The snow is blowing, but it is definitely the wet and heavy kind here.
I'm getting ready to go out and clear the driveway. It will be wasted effort the way it is still coming down, but I've got a 75 hp tractor that is almost too light to get traction on the wet asphalt if I let too much snow build up before I start pushing it. At least our driveway is easy to keep clean and it doesn't take me long to clear it. It just takes a consistent effort every few hours.

We've got a big hill at the edge of our property. I'm really excited to do some sledding. Usually we have all kinds of random people who show up and use it. They are actually trespassing... not that we care if people use it, but it would be nice to at least know who is on our property. I always get mad too, because there is one really good line down that hill that you can get some good speed and distance going, but random people always show up and start packing tracks down going the wrong direction and I never can keep it going the way I want to. I'll be able to go out there and do whatever I want today!!!

Wish I had a tractor. I have an access road on my property so neighbors can get to their houses and usually clear it with my snowblower. Takes a couple hours to finish the whole job.

The hill sounds like a lot of fun. You should put up a "one way" sign.:rotfl2::rotfl2: Or a ticket booth.:lmao::lmao: It may not work, but I'm sure everyone will get a little laugh out of it. We have a huge hill close to us that is part of someone's farm. When we found out it was private property, we brought over an apple pie and spiced hot chocolate to thank them. They are OK with everyone using it too, but were very thankful that we asked permission and brought some goodies. Didn't go over last year due to my knee injury. If we ever get enough snow, we'll give it a shot again.

We are trying to reclain the house today. Right now I have boxes and bags of garbage piled up!:rolleyes1 I only got called in twice yesterday and now I am off until Monday. Shari has to go back to work tomorrow. I keep reading about all the white stuff everyone is getting and the only thing we have is rain!

Scott, we're getting some unusual wind swirls coming down from the north east. I'm going to say it is over you, but all the snow is being blown back this way! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Well, unfortunately, it has begun.

Coming down quite hard now and near white-out.

Talks we might be closing up shop here in a couple of hours. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone's doing well, finally found a dentist that didn't take the rest of the year off so got a 1pm appt, hopefully I've been on antibiotics enough that they can go ahead and pull this tooth and I can be done with it

Sunny here.:upsidedow

Just looked at the most recent forecast and they are now saying heavy rain tomorrow and no snow at all.:( You guys are very selfish keeping all the snow to yourselves.:lmao::lmao:

Good luck with the appointment. Hopefully the tooth will come out without any problems. Plenty of alcoholic beverages will help you feel better..just sayin':rolleyes1

So as of now, still no Snow this part of Canada...:lmao:

‘Morning all…

Hope everyone had a fine Christmas holiday.
My family enjoyed themselves, mightily, but me…
Not so much.

Left work a happy man last Thursday and woke up Friday morning sick as a dog…
From there it just got worse. Couldn’t muster up enough energy to even turn on a computer much less try to read what was going out around here. Didn’t sleep for more then two hours at a stretch until last night; just in time to have to go back to work this morning.

If one of ya’ wouldn’t mind stopping in over here for a minute or two to mercilessly beat what’s left of me with a baseball bat, I do believe that it would greatly improve my general well being.

Bahhhh Humbug!

I'm not in favour of violence alas....Do hope you get better soon though. It'd be kinda nice if the boss'd take a bit of pity and send you home though. Prayers

Hope that appointment goes well for you....I get to go have three more fillings done tomorrow uuugh!

Snow hasn't even started here yet and we're already talking about closing the office.

It's coming!

AND it's not even lake-effect stuff! :lmao:

Tell you what... I couldn't imagine how much snow we'd have right now if all this rain we're getting actually turned into the white stuff. It's been pouring down all day. Expecting over an inch or two of rain today. DD has been praying fo rsnow though :rolleyes1

The tractor makes it easy. We have a stone drive to access the farm, but I won't even clear it this year. We wont need to get in with semis since we didn't even have enough grain to store here this fall. Our house and garage are on an asphalt drive and as along as I can keep the snow from piling up, it usually melts off pretty quick once the sun is out, so keeping our driveway clear is never a problem unless I let the drifts get too big and can't keep traction to push.

I really wish people would at least ask or let us know who is there. I've found them out walking the woods and that really don't fly. If you want to sled, fine, but if you get any closer to my house than the hill, we're gonna have a problem. Not to mention the people who came 2 years ago and brought their dogs and just turned them loose. They came up to the house and were antagonizing my dogs. They just about took one home with some birdshot in it's @$$. I've run some people off before when they show up after dark to sled. They get huffy about it, but it is private property and I don't want strangers wandering around my property after dark. Common sense. :confused3

Set some traps.

That would be funny, but I can't afford the lawsuits.

I can send you my address.....
Sorry, blew a hydraulic line on the loader. :confused3

The tractor is all wet from the snow so I really can't tell what's water and what is fluid. I'm going to have to check it out after it dries for a while. I'm really hoping it is something that I can just add more hydraulic fluid and at least use it the way it is for at least today.

Careful what you wish for!

Our office has officially closed! Woo hoo

I can't believe you guys had to go to the office! :worried:

If it's bad, have a safe drive home.

Argh. Stuck here at work. At least my clinical time doesn't start until 4:30...

Still snowing....

Near White-out with the winds out there...that's a bad thing about the lake....it's much windier near it.

We're seeing 25-30 mph sustained winds, and gusts over 45 mph.

Looks like we'll be closing up shop here in about an hour.

Hi guys. Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I'll try to go back and read up, but with a skeleton team here at work this week it might be pretty hard.

I do have one complaint though. 2 years ago the city decided to save money by skipping trash collection on holidays. Usually they'd shift the pickups to account for holidays (if the holiday fell on a Monday, Monday area pickup would be on Tuesday, etc). Now they just skip you and you have to wait until next week. With Christmas Eve and New Years Eve both on Mondays this year, I won't see trash pickup until January 7th and recycling pickup until January 15th. Jokes on them though - I'm collecting 3 weeks worth of nasty, stinky diapers. I'd love to see the look on the trash collector's face when he opens that garbage can. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Safe travels home, Scott. We're usually pretty lucky being to the west of the lake here. When there is Lake Effect snow, it's usually only a mile or two inland. And when it blows, it usually blows out over the lake and into Michigan. Then it's someone else's issue.

I'd make sure you go ahead and leave that one on the curb even if it isn't going anywhere for a couple of weeks.

You mean people aren't buying cars in that weather? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Drive safely! And what I mean by that is make sure you find an open part of the parking lot to do the doughnuts :thumbsup2
