DIS Dads DDC XXIX: We’re Over 750 Dads, With A Disney Problem!

Just in time for football to start. Went to a game last week when a friend was in town. He paid so I was OK with it. Lost 4-3 and left 10 runners on base. The At-Bats the last two innings when they had a chance to tie the game were pitiful. Probably less than 10,000 fans in the stands. Sorry state of affairs.

Maybe. You can always come down at the beginning of June when we will be there. Starting to build back points since the Aulani trip and I am getting close. 2014-15 may be a park intensive year so I may get an AP. If so, chances are better.

June never looks good for me. Year end here. June and July are 60 hour work weeks with getting everything for the year closed out and through the annual audit. That is why we travel late August (well that and the crowd levels). I may be there for the marathon weekend. Still working on the schedule and waiting for trade events to be announced.

Good to hear Max is doing well. DD only has a 2 hr drive and she is coming home more to see friends me thinks, as we are preparing to have lots of food and cooking on the grill all weekend for the "crew". She has a couple of freinds that are at local Jr college and one that is playing soccer at Austin Peay and they have a match tonight.

Good to hear they are both doing well. I may go up to NJ for Parent's Weekend in October. If I don't I won't see her until Thanksgiving. And then it will be only in short bits when she is between visiting friends. Such is the reality when they get older.

Thanks and I’m glad that your young ladies are doing well. I can see where seeing the friends would certainly be driving the desire to return home. Max didn’t have the large numbers of buddies that most folks seem to have. Just a couple that he holds very close, but most of them are also off at different schools now as well. They have a fall break in early Oct and we’ll be traveling up there soon after that to for a competition, so it won’t be all that bad. His momma still misses her “baby boy” though (of course she really lost him about the time he turned eleven).

True story… when we were up there for orientation, the vice-chancellor was discussing the things that are most likely to cause freshman to have huge problems adjusting to campus life. Here’s how we addressed the number one downfall of new students:

“Now I’m talking to all you new freshman that still have a guy or a girl back at home still in high school…

Break… up… with theeeeem!

Please! Pull out you cell phone right now… I won’t mind… I’ll let you do it even while I’m talking… call them right now and break-uuuuup… If it was meant to be they’ll be there when you get back. Every poet out there will tell you that if you love someone you’ve got to set them free. Not to mention that the next four years, hopefully only four years, will be one of the very few times in your entire lives that you will be constantly surrounded by attractive, eligible and available people that are all you own age. After this meeting people just keeps getting harder. And most importantly, when you’re in a place like that…

Why on Earth would you bring a sandwich to a Smörgåsbord?!!”​

The entire room was pretty much on the floor gasping for breath in tearful laughter.

Computer generated a form today, and I received emails from two different people to complete same form. So, I now have two bosses & one computer programmer doing the same thing? And, I have the boss I report to, and have to email that form. No money for raises? Ridiculous.

DS decided that it wasn’t worth the travel time so he’s staying in the mountains. We likely won’t see him again until October (which is troubling his momma a bit, to be sure). On the up side… it’s apparent that he’s adjusting well.

You want to know what is not a good start to your morning? Stepping on a Disney Pin that doesn't have a back on it. It's amazing that I was able to internalize my yell and not wake the rest of the family. My girls have some cleaning to do this weekend!

We got the exact same speech at DD's orientation about breaking up with any significant others including the sandwich and smorgasbord line. DD has no attachments at home at the serious BF thing ended before HS graduation. I am getting a bit tired of hearing about the "scoping" out of guys on campus and who has dibs on which guy during the first two weeks of school

well, I will send your her work times and locations the days you are there. I am sure she wont have a problem if I gave you her number to text her and she can text you back when she can. ( tried it with barry and it don't work. lol )

what I didn't realize is she can not "go on stage" with her costume on if shes not working. a lot of times she gets to work an hour before her shift starts but cant "go on stage". a lot of times she is sitting behind the bakery area behind main street or sitting in the caf.
