Happy fouth to you guys as well!

Today also comes with sad news. The A/C went out on the wifes car.and a new compressor is required to fix it, to the tune of 1200$. I dont think the disney trip will survive this one.

Matt

What a peanut butter beverley situation.

That sucks Matt... And the worst timing too.

Is it possible she could just walk everywhere from now on? Then you can still go to WDW. :rotfl2:

Matt, see if you can't find one at the junk yard/wreckers. You might have to pull it yourself, but it should be way cheaper.

Thanks to all that have given me such a nice welcome. Happy fourth to you all as well.

Never had the Woodford Reserve or Basil's. BURBON BAR? May be worth a detour driving back from dropping the kid off at college. Of course, that would be a big detour. But you have a BURBON BAR!

CJ....you are doing yourself a disservice by not trying Woodford Reserve. It is my favorite bourbon....so smooth.

That stinks. Definitely not something you can put off at this time of year, either.

Happy 4th, everyone! Sitting here at the comp, trying to stay cool and listening to the old Schoolhouse Rock patriotic songs. Heading over to the BILs place in a bit for breakfast, followed by pool & beer. He's a better player than I am (by far), but it's still a fun way to while away the morning.

AFAIK, the local fireworks have not been cancelled - I'm kind of hoping that they are. The dewpoint is past 70, and the high for today is supposed to hit close to 100 - before the heat index. It won't be better at 9:30 tonight - though supposedly the heat should start breaking soon. October cannot get here soon enough for me.

Sorry to hear about the fireworks cancellation. They have ours as we shoot them over the river.

Believe it or not, there are many people (like my parents and in-laws) who do not have smart phones and never will. They are still afraid of technology.

If they wanted, I would do it for them, but I don't have to because we will be with them. All us young 'uns have the Lines app on our iphones.

I have heard of these people. Strange tribe. So, you won't be giving them agendas, but you'll still have them on your phone, which is the most important.

It would be a big detour, but you are welcome. It is called Miller House.

It has been awhile since I have had Woodford Reserve, so I may go that route. I do like Maker's Mark, and was tempted to try their new one, but I think those may be best tried at the bourbon bar first before I purchase the whole bottle.

Matt I hate to hear this about yor trip!...same thing happened to us just a few weeks after the warranty on Shari's van expired. We ended up trading it in.....I feel your pain!

Could be worse Virginia has every police officer and fire fighter out looking for anything that is illegal to set off. What happened to our independence and celebrating freedom? We can't eve light off decent fireworks, geeeeeeeesssse!

It is pretty disappointing, But I would rather the car was in good shape. You have to take care of your responsibilities first.

That sucks. If you know for sure that the compressor is the problem, you can probably pick one up for about $200 and change it yourself then recharge the AC system. Not that hard. Although Dave might not like us suggesting that a novice try something like that. :lmao::rotfl2:

Fireworks are cancelled here... and they were cancelled about a week ago. Everything that's supposed to be green seems to be brown and some dumb beverly neighbors were setting off a nice big display last night. I was watching very closely, but not because I was enjoying the show. I probably would have called the Sherrif department, but I had just returned home from an evening at the county fair, and when I left, I had just finished talking to a deputy who was also getting ready to leave. And he lives just a few miles past me going down the same road. Thankfully, the fireworks stopped soon after I saw them start. :rolleyes1 :lmao::rotfl2:

Happy 4th. I just got done working the grave yard shift and am off to bed.

Welcome

Well, the Canadian is finally out of the house. The Crown Royal is gone. So, the burning question is what do I buy now?

I have really wanted to try Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo tequila, but it might be dangerous for me to be drinking straight tequila, especially that amount. I really like the Grey Goose vodka. Or, I could go with some Hennessy cognac, a favorite. Or, the best drink in the world - ky bourbon - maybe Woodford Reserve or try my relative's blend - Basil Hayden.

Any thoughts?
Woodford is really good. I'm a Scotch and Irish guy. Bushmills Black is really good

Like your camera gear as well.

I shot with a Nikon D50 for a while and upgraded last year before our Disney trip to a D90. I LOVE my D90.

Went to a single lens solution. I have the 18-200 VRII Nikkor lens. I find it's a good walk-around lens. Let's me do lots of stuff without having to carry huge bag full of lenses.

I'd love to pick up the 35mm f/1.8g for low light shots. Especially for all the dark rides Disney has.

With two 32GB cards, I take it you shoot in RAW format? What's your photo processing software of choice?

Yeah I use Lightroom 4, I want a 10-20mm also for VR Panoramic shots. I have my panoramic head already so I can do VR 360s in hotels, etc. I feel you on having a bag full of lenses. This past trip I got so fed up switching back and forth from 18-55 back to 55-300 and then back again. I would love a low light lens just for that as well. But there I go again with a bag of lenses. Crap my woman is going to kill me. But besides the two 32GB cards, I also have Two back up 16GBs just in case of emergencies.

I will be the first to admit that I'm not mechanical. Give me a network or computer and I'm good.
There are other issues as well, we were pushing it this year to afford the trip, and my car needs some A/C love also, so that was just the straw that broke the camels back.

Matt

Shoot wish I could help working on cars is my thing. I wouldn't want that to stop or put a damper on your plans for Disney!

I'm using Lightroom 4 as well. I like it a lot. Really helps on overexposed pics!
