I won't say how my brain read that last part... let's just say that I missed a few words the first time I read it. :rotfl:

Have a better Tuesday! :thumbsup2

:lmao::rotfl2: thanks!

Thought I'd give a little heads-up for those dads who are planning to visit Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, this season. When we visited for the pass member preview day two Saturdays ago my DD found something that I've never noticed at the park before. It seems they have put in a "mining" operation over in New France by the smokehouse. You can purchase bags of mining rough in different sizes (and varying dollar amounts... from $5-$15) then head over to a sluice box set up where you can "pan" the dirt to find gem stones. I've never seen DD so thrilled and excited about finding stuff before. She's been watching Gold Rush with us this past season and she just thought this was totally awesome. We managed to get by with just one $5 bag this trip... but she is already saving money for the next visit.

Here's the web site for the company they used to set up the operation. If I had a more rural property I would consider investing in an operation like this. Kids LOVE it!

Cold River Mining Company

And look... here's a picture of the setup at the park!

bgsluice1.jpg

very cool. it's much more exciting if you can keep what you find (even if you did pay for it)

Related note; Do all hospitals give the father of the baby free food while the wife is in labor? Ours did, and don't get me wrong, I took full advantage of it, but it struck me as odd that while my wife was in serious pain and discomfort (and not allowed to eat anything) I could pick up the phone and order a huge meal. Again, I didn't let this stop me, but it made me wonder if they should offer that service... :confused3

I never got any special treatment with either. what gives? you'd think I did nothing to help her get pregnant or carry the baby all those months!! I was there too, you know!! :rolleyes1

When my wife was induced for our third child, things were proceeding very slowly...so I joked about heading across the street to hang out at Golf Galaxy. Then the Doc (a woman) started encouraging me! "Go ahead! My husband hung out at the Home Depot last time I was induced!" :eek:

I shudder to think what my wife would have said/done...:scared1:

When they gave my wife the epidural I was told to leave by the doctor. So I went and made calls to family to update them, and got some food. I got back and the look DW gave me for leaving... well, let's just say I was glad it was doctor's orders and not that I was at home depot or hitting golf balls. I still get grief over the fact that I had a book with me the first time around. :lmao:

Sounds like some good and some not so good. Hope you get caught up on the sleep.

I wish I could...

So the scoutmaster wants to talk to me about my "role in the troop". This is the guy who repeatedly ignored the bullying despite my highlighting it to him. Finally started to shape up after I threatened to the council to dissociate our feeder Pack with that troop. Should be an interesting phone call...

Eager to hear how that goes. Good luck.

They've had this over at Ontario Place, but we never tried it out, it always looked like it was closed or something. Now the whole park is closed. :sad2: Amelia would have tried it for sure, she loves that kind of thing

I was never offered anything while there, even during DW's 26 hour marathon with Amelia, had to run down to the Tim Hortons at one point for a bite.

They give free baby food...or hospital food, which is kind of the same thing. :laughing:

Thanks!
It's been 5 years since my DS was born, but I don't recall getting any food. I'll have to see what I can do this time... :scratchin;

All I got was an uncomfortable chair to sit in and the bill. MD said I could cut the cord for DD but I told him I don't ask him to do my job why should I do his? He still would have charged the full rate.

Nope. We had our 3 in two different hospitals but no food for any of ours.

So I guess we got a good (albeit highly unfair to the wives) hospital, as far as free food goes. If DW and I have a 3rd baby, I'll be sure to hop on the boards or facebook page and take orders for everyone. The food was pretty good... :rotfl:

Hey Randy...I was at Okeechobee last week:rolleyes1:lmao:

Hi guys.

:worship::dancer:

:banana::banana:And now for something completely different::banana::banana:

:cheer2:So here it is, post 1000:cheer2:

Wow, hard to believe it took this long to get to this point but here I am. Hopefully the 2nd 1000 will come a bit quicker.

I went back and tried to find my first post on the DISDad thread. It’s kind of funny to look back at certain periods of our threads and see how relationships developed, the things that people are going through, and the events that have become almost like placeholders in our timeline. I became a member at the same point that Nate was officially christened as Corn Fuzz.

A lot of guys have come along since I joined, and a lot have lost touch, but the core group that welcomed me is mostly still here. It’s kind of comforting that among the complete anonymous nature of the internet we have gone out of our ways to open ourselves up and share our lives with each other as we wait for our next trips to come up. This is more than a discussion group; it’s more like a brotherhood. When one of us hurts, it pains us all, and in the same way when someone shares some good news, we all feel a bit better.

Thanks for being there for me guys, maybe over the next thousand posts I’ll actually run into a few of you. To those of you who have reached out to me outside the boards, a special thank you, your advice/concern/support means more to me than you will ever know.:thumbsup2 <----Yes it's a thumb!

Congrats! Nice speech.

Baby Update:

There is nothing new to report. As of Friday, DW was dilated to 4cm. A few random contractions on Saturday, but nothing since. We did a lot of walking this weekend, but to no avail. Ryder is still firmly entrenched and does not appear to be letting go anytime soon. Another doctor appointment on Wednesday, so we'll see if there is any progress.
we will be praying for you guys! :thumbsup2
great pics! thanks for sharing!

:wave2;

that's why I don't pack things away. I just move them to the back of the closet! :rotfl2:

good luck!

no before and after?? random thought. Would they let you hand out cups of beverly to runners during marathon weekend??

Good Luck!! Keep us posted!! (words are fine)

congrats on the opportunity!! have fun in HH! too cold in nyc for many of the girls to be walking around.
CLOSET!! i was tossed out of there years ago. no room for my few things. i get drawers.
Wow! I haven't been to the Colonial in years!
DW had a very tough day on Sunday; she probably overdid it Saturday. However, she had a "great" day yesterday ("great" being relative). Maybe things will finally start turning around for her. I'm being very cautiously optimistic as this has happened before.

The 2012 airshow season is in full swing! If anyone is planning to attend a show to see the Blue Angels, let me know. David has about 1/2 of the shows this year, mostly midwest and east coast.

still the same pizza and salad at the colonial! we will keep her in our prayers mike. :thumbsup2
