You may be the only Kentucky fan who actually has a concept of reality. Either that or the rest of them are already in denial.

UK fans are the worst. Since I tend to cheer for all KY schools, I push out a little from that group. But, these folks are disappointed if UK doesn't win the championship, and expects greatness from 18 year olds, something they wouldn't have 1 year prior. Scary.

I think since the one and done rule has kicked in it has caused fans of most schools to expect alot from these young men. Gone are the days of Kenny Walker, Steve Alford, Rex Chapman and Grant Hill.

It is such a revolving door anymore it is hard to root for these kids.

Thanks Dude, I appreciate that. The teen years are a trial. We have been through a lot including my moving to NY and the loss of her mother. I was hard on her early on but have eased up a bit lately. After all, she will be away at school and is about to start a life on her own. I believe she has the grounding to make mostly right decisions. I think she knows I am a backstop in case she needs me.

Our relationship is not always a bed of roses. She is hard headed like her mother and both set of grandparents. Not the even keeled person that I am. OK, just like me. We argue a lot but it is over quickly. She also feels that she can talk to me. She has told me secrets about herself and her friends that no other parents knew about.

One of things we do is have fun when we are together. Diving became a great common bond between us. And of course Disney. She is a good kid and I did the best I could to raise her. Realizing that soon the rest will be up to her. Hopefully, I did a good job as a parent. I am sure you are doing the same.

If your trip report about taking your DD and her friends to WDW is any indication, I'd say you're doing just fine, from an outsider's point of view.

I liked Tusker, so I'd go O'hana for something different.

In that case, it all depends on how your kids feel about dinosaurs.
If your kids are really into dinosaurs, T-Rex is REALLY impressive. If they're NOT already into dinosaurs, T-Rex may be TOO impressive - some kids get scared by the huge (and loud) dinosaurs. If they might get freaked by the dinosaurs, do Rainforest Cafe.

2nd the T-Rex. We went inside T-Rex in Kansas City a few years back. My DS7 (4 at the time) LOVED dinosaurs at the time, but he would not stay inside the restaurant with the giant dinosaurs staring at him. Plus, we love the Ice Cream Volcano from Rainforest.

MY DS8 is wants us to go to British Columbia this summer for a "BFRO" trip. He was all upset when the Oregon trip was full. Regardless of how many times you tell him we aren't going, we're going according to him.

My DD17months had that, and it's kinda scary for a parent. So, thoughts & prayers are with you & your family.

OH! the reason I logged on. My DS4 and I will be in the Magic Kingdom THIS THURSDAY! EMH starting at 7:00 a.m., but we won't be able to close the park. He is 42", so what attractions do you all think we should hit? He wants to do Splash Mountain, but I refuse to do that at 7:00 a.m., so Buzz Lightyear is first. But, then what?

I'm ok with the going pro after 1 year. If someone offered me a $1 million contract, I'd take it. I think it is the expectations. No one would dream of degrading a 17 year old boy because he missed a last minute shot. But, have him go to college as an 18 year old "man" and miss that shot, then he will be forever hated because some hillbilly's dreams of UK winning a champsionship were lost.

My favorite quote from Calipari, and it didn't make national news, was the first year he arrived to UK. Now, the had some bad years and had lost only 3 games at that point in the season. The tournament was getting ready to start and I was driving home listening to his radio show. A caller said something like, "many fans are proud of you but we (fans) all know you can do better". Calipari laughed and responded with something like, "we only lost 3 games all season, look where this team was last year, etc. and WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT". If I had a pro team, then I may have that expectation. To have that expectation for young college players is stupid.

Now mind you my family has never set foot into Fla without doing Disney.this stay was supposed to be at Clearwater beach so I would have been able to cut across the top of the state to avoid going bye Disney and causing any sadness( well more then there already is).Well now the trip has turned into both my sisters and brother also going down at same time staying in my sisters time share.So being the accommodating person I am I said we would go and stay at same place then my father could come by and we would all be in same area.Oh yea I forgot to mention my step mothers children and grandchildren are coming over from England and are staying close to my sisters timeshare.So I am sure you are all saying so what is the problem?? The problem is my sisters timeshare is Westgate right outside the gates of Disney!! How can we stay there and look across the street and see the greatest Drive in all of the US. This will be torture for us to stay here and not do Disney.We were planning on doing Bush Gardens and Seaworld and do several days at the beach . We could buy passes for Sesame Place up here and they would be good for the parks down there.This was a great plan since we would have been over by Tampa,but now with being in Orlando I am afraid we might have to change our plans. Oh what to do.So I am coming here to you guys for any tips on what to do in or by Orlando to fill in our time so we can keep our minds off of Disney. Or do I just break down and buy our Disney tickets (which aren't really in the budget for this trip due to buying the other tickets).OH decisions decisions

Carl - that indeed is a rough situation!

I know, personally, I'd have a real hard time not going if I was that close. But we all have budgets!

I had a conference in Orlando a couple of years ago and decided that I had to have some "disney" while I was there. So I decided the most cost effective way was to visit DTD. Had a meal or two there and caught a movie at AMC.

This way you atleast get some kind of disney fix. You could also resort hop from there if you wanted.

I have no idea for that situation. I guess for me, would be to get in a little overtime to pay for some tix, but that is not for everyone. Even my more practical DW would have a hard time NOT doing Disney. On the other hand, there you have a lot of other things planned that should be a lot of fun.

That stinks... but just keep your mind on why you are really there. It's all about spending time with the Family.

However, what if you visited DTD (it's free) for some shopping, dining, and a taste of of Disney.

Maybe golf (or mini golf)? Visit some resorts? Do the campfire at Fort Wilderness, watch Wishes from the beach at Poly, take a stroll around the boardwalk, have a kitchen sink at Beaches and Cream.

If you really think about it, there is a LOT to do at Disney outside the parks, that is either free or reasonably priced (without park tickets).

Wow... to be that close and not go to a park... that would be rough for me as well. As blasphemous as it is to say, there are other things to do in the area besides WDW. And like Scott said, there are some ways to get your Disney Fix without paying for park tickets.

It's still not a bad drive to go to the beach, and I think that's the most wallet-friendly thing to do. That will get you away from the billboards. If you stay in the Disney area and try to fill your day with other activities, you may just find that you spent more on all of that than it would have cost for your park ticket??

Carl, budgets are budgets. There is still a lot to do in Orlando. If I needed a Disney fix I would be content to just check out the resorts.
