Good Morning Dads..
I need the help getting through a rough situation. Any feedback will be great.Ok here it is. In Aug we will be heading to Fla to see my father and step mother. We were not planning on doing Disney :sad2:. Now mind you my family has never set foot into Fla without doing Disney.this stay was supposed to be at Clearwater beach so I would have been able to cut across the top of the state to avoid going bye Disney and causing any sadness( well more then there already is).Well now the trip has turned into both my sisters and brother also going down at same time staying in my sisters time share. So being the accommodating person I am I said we would go and stay at same place then my father could come by and we would all be in same area.Oh yea I forgot to mention my step mothers children and grandchildren are coming over from England and are staying close to my sisters timeshare. So I am sure you are all saying so what is the problem??:confused3 The problem is my sisters timeshare is Westgate right outside the gates of Disney!! How can we stay there and look across the street and see the greatest Drive in all of the US. This will be torture for us to stay here and not do Disney. We were planning on doing Bush Gardens and Seaworld and do several days at the beach . We could buy passes for Sesame Place up here and they would be good for the parks down there:thumbsup2.This was a great plan since we would have been over by Tampa, but now with being in Orlando I am afraid we might have to change our plans. Oh what to do.So I am coming here to you guys for any tips on what to do in or by Orlando to fill in our time so we can keep our minds off of Disney. Or do I just break down and buy our Disney tickets (which aren't really in the budget for this trip due to buying the other tickets).OH decisions decisions :headache:

You've had some good ideas thrown out there. DTD and resort hopping are always a good idea. It might be a good opportunity to do a few of the "outside the parks" things and tour resorts without feeling like you're missing out on park time since you won't have tickets anyway.

Another idea might be a waterpark... it would cost money for the tickets, but a day in a water park wouldn't be quite as expensive.

Another option: you have about 6 months. Start cutting back on some of the extras now and see how much you can save. You might surprise yourself and be able to get park tickets.:confused3

Good morning guys.

Had a great time last night hanging out with the family.

Now working on some potential deals while DW took DD to gymnastics.

DS16 has the day off school, and he's upstair jammin' on his guitar, and sounding awesome.

It's a good morning. :)

Good Morning Dads..
When in Aug is your trip?

That stinks... but just keep your mind on why you are really there. It's all about spending time with the Family.

However, what if you visited DTD (it's free) for some shopping, dining, and a taste of of Disney.

Maybe golf (or mini golf)? Visit some resorts? Do the campfire at Fort Wilderness, watch Wishes from the beach at Poly, take a stroll around the boardwalk, have a kitchen sink at Beaches and Cream.

If you really think about it, there is a LOT to do at Disney outside the parks, that is either free or reasonably priced (without park tickets).

I agree with everything Brian says... (well, not everything, but at least what he wrote up there ^

Anyone hear an update from Mark (Capt. Oblivious) yet on his MIL?

I didn't see a post on this, what did I miss? :confused3

She was in the hospital and collapsed during an exam. She was doing better by the time Mark's wife arrived and is going in for a CAT scan this morning.

I need the help getting through a rough situation.

I would just be honest with the family and focus on the things you are doing, not what you are missing at WDW.

Or, along the lines of what afwdwfan said, figure out what it would cost for tickets for the family and see if there are things they would all agree to give up on to cover the ticket cost.

Easiest fix I can think of is to hang out at DTD for the afternoon and then head over for a monorail ride and get off at the Polly to watch the fireworks from the beach.

Or, you could always volunteer to just get a ticket for yourself, videotape everything you can, then show the video to everyone back at the house:laughing:.

Just got back from nice lunch with the Pirate Princess. Beautiful day here so we ate outside. A little bit cooler and the sun is shining. May do a BBQ tonight but the next door neighbor's kids are here from Nashville. May not see the kid for a while. She does have chores to do today though.

Ok, so are you BBQing or grilling. BBQ usually involves more slow cooking, I prefer smoked, and then marinated and cooked in BBQ sauce. If you throw a piece of meat on the grill, cook it in 10 min and slap some sauce on it, that's grilling.

OH! the reason I logged on. My DS4 and I will be in the Magic Kingdom THIS THURSDAY! EMH starting at 7:00 a.m., but we won't be able to close the park. He is 42", so what attractions do you all think we should hit? He wants to do Splash Mountain, but I refuse to do that at 7:00 a.m., so Buzz Lightyear is first. But, then what?

It's been awhile but I would think fantasy land is where to go - Peter Pan, Dumbo, tea cups, etc. If you are there for morning EMH, you should be able to get those rides without the wait, clustered together, and I'm sure he meets height requirements there.

First, I like the AP suggestion. Second, I have never hit a budget once with WDW trips. Instead, I pad the rest of the household budget for overages. Just like our last DVC purchase, I budgeted 5K, and will pay 7. So, that means I ha e to ref some more soccer games this season.

We have never done a big family vacation. We did meet up our friends last year, the one who did not want to go but then liked it, and even though we planned some days and ADRs together, we still planned our own family time as well. So, is there any chance of that? We will all go to Sea World together, but then my family is going to WDW this day instead.

OK, booking question:

We are making our grand return to WDW after 2 years without a trip this Christmas. Checking in on the 19th and out on the 26th.

I know the park itself is nuts on Christmas day but how is it the week leading up to the 25th?

Boy having the new place sure seems to have slowed this place down.

:wave2:

I gotta change the channel on V...when one hasn't had dinner, one shouldn't watch Diners. Drive-Ins and Dives....
I think Guy Fieri is a little annoying, but man that's some good-looking food.
We bought 100 points at Boardwalk from the TimeShare Store. Contract posted yesterday.
Was the contract loaded? I ignore all the listings unless they say "xxx points currently available".
Been trying to get DW to buy into DVC.
Been working on that wth my DW since 2005. No progress.
Of the forcasted 2-4 inches here we did not get as much as a single flake! Still no school tomororw...President's Day! :rotfl2:

About 4 inches on the ground this morning. I promised my son I'd make him a snowman but it wasn't the right kind of snow. So I put the kids on a sled and dragged them around the yard for a while. They loved it. I almost had a heart attack, but they loved it.

According to the Crowd Calendar from touringplans.com, your first three days are 8, 8, and 9. After that nothing but 10s. Sorry.

Ok some more randomness for you all.

Now that the Main street Fire Station isn't a Fire station and The Emporium is phasing out all of the FD stuff and none of it is listed in the Disney store, Does anyone have a clue on where i might find a MK FD ball cap. I can't seem to find them anywhere.

As touringplans predicts - busy! The last two weeks of the year tend to be the busiest at WDW, along with 4th of July and around Easter.
