We had an eventful weekend in our house. The kids in the school’s percussion ensemble pull off an absolutely unexpected 4th place overall finish in a regional competition on Saturday. I may go toss some details in the Brag thread rather then bother y’all over here, but needless to say, we’re all very proud of those young’ens.
:woohoo:

Mornin' Guys -

Woke up to about 4 inches of heavy wet snow on the ground. Nobody was expecting it - so our roads are iced up and schools are closed.

And my DW (teacher) was just saying last night how she didn't want to go to work tomorrow. :wizard:

So...where was I? :confused3

Happy belated birthday to Chris and happy birthday Don!

Jeff, have a great vacation!

Morning everybody. I've missed like 2 threads, I think that deserves a double-crud.

Have a GREAT time Jeff!! We'll be heading that way Saturday morning and I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through the week

:cool1::yay::cool1::yay:

FREE DINING IS BACK! I know several of you got the Disney VISA offer by email last week. Well it opened up to the general public this morning. I got the info from CRO that it would open this morning a couple of days ago. It's fun to watch it start to go viral in various places as so many people just adore that promotion, and of course, I have some clients who are going to be enjoying it too. We loved it when we used it, but I loved it a whole lot more when gratuities were still included on TS meals :rolleyes1 - but then who wouldn't?

I'd be jumping all over this if we had the spare $$ laying around. That'd make a good week to go too, last week before school starts.

Dang!
They do this nearly every year, but since school starts in mid August here…
once again I’ll be missing that offer (maybe next year though).
:sad2:

Our DD is 3 and one on the way, I'm trying to work a trip in for the free dining late September. Sqeaking as many in as we can off-season before we succumb to the school calendar.

So...where was I? :confused3

Where were you? Lord I don’t even know where I am!
Hope things are settling down a little bit. We’re all still keeping you FIL and MIL in out thoughts.

RYAN!!!
Long time no see. I was starting to worry about you.
I suspect that you’ve been mightily busy (and hopefully on good things).

I would certainly agree that taking advantage now is the best play. You can probably also get away with taking time out of school during the first couple of grades as well, but after about the fourth, the time loss starts to get harder to justify (depending on the young’en and the curriculum of course). We’ve got one more year of calendar lockout to deal with before graduation. Then our options will get a whole lot wider.

I bet you're counting it down :cool1:

Thanks for the advice though about the early elementary years, makes me feel a little better about it haha. The sort of wean me off of the off-season trips slowly.

Morning all on this cold, crisp day. Already girl drama at home today. My youngest dd called her older sister "chubby" before school. Now, I was starting the car outside and am sure my oldest dd was picking on her. But, my oldest is so sensitive (4th grade). She is not overweight, but in dance so very worried about that.

A house full of girls in no fun. I grew up with three older sisters and man did they fight all the time.

Dang!
They do this nearly every year,

For the last 7 or 8, yes.

but since school starts in mid August here…

Same here.

But it's just a marketing thing Rob. Their fiscal year ends Sep. 30th. They want to end the year "strong" and so they want to fill the beds in the resorts. During the worst of the recession they expanded the promo well beyond the traditional 6 week period in order to continue drawing guests in who were on the fence about going on vacation during those years.

And of course, don't you just bet, the corporate wonks behind this kind of offer don't just laugh thinking about all of those poor families who then have to debate with themselves about whether or not they pull their kids out of school to go on a vacation?!? I'd even bet some of them lurk about here on the boards and just love it when those "do it" - "don't do it" threads start getting all wired up and crazy silly. :rotfl:

Good morning Ryan! Nice to have you back. Saw via FB that you've had some big stuff going on in your life, so I figured you were just a tad busy and not able to pay your usual visits here. Glad you found us once again. :)

Morning all!

Anyone else see the commercial for Disney's new chimpanzee movie? Looks interesting...

Looks awesome, although some of the footage looks eerily similar to me going camping with the family?:confused3

Morning everybody. I've missed like 2 threads, I think that deserves a double-crud.

Welcome back Ryan!

Want to run in the Doughman Challenge? I ended up with a team and am trying to fill it with DisDads.

Welcome back Ryan! We've missed you. Well, maybe not Paul, but the rest of us have.

Where were you? Lord I don’t even know where I am!
Hope things are settling down a little bit. We’re all still keeping you FIL and MIL in out thoughts.

Thanks, Rob. The good news from my last check-in is that the "problems" on my construction project don't appear to be as bad as I first thought. The bad news was that I got back to the office to find out my wife was in a car accident.

She's fine...we're just waiting to hear about the van and praying they don't total it. We're not in position to go car-shopping right now.

I know the rules...Pictures or it didn't happen.
