Star Wars debate

So my DD8 is excited to see the re-release of Episode I in 3D which is great as I truly believe that the complete saga is the best collection of cinema ever compiled. My dilemma is surrounded by the fact that some how Mr. Lucas allowed the likes of Jar-Jar Binks to defile this collection of perfection. How do I address this travesty:

1) distract the entire theater durring his time on screen?
2) conveniently scheduled potty break?
3) hijack the film and splice out Mr. Binks entirely?

Unfortunately, your kids may not think it is the travesty that we all know it to be. Mine thought he was funny. My wife and I found him (like most fans) to be so annoying, unnecessary and borderline racist(seriously, all he needed was a reggae hat and a bottle of Red Stripe) as to become a major distraction in the movie.

Let your kids tell you whether they liked him or not. You may be surprised.

Just go and remember that everyone makes mistakes from time to time. That just happened to be a great big one of his.

But then... so are many of the changes he's made to the original film after the fact with each subsequent home re-release...

Hi guys, seems like i am falling farther and farther behind. I think i posted 3 time two threads ago. Missed the whole last thread. And this is my first post on this thread. You guys are flying!!

Back from Disney World and all i gotta say is Do Not Go To Disney When they are having a DANCE COMPETITION at ESPN. Went from a crowd rating of 1-2 to 4-6. Sucked!! I know we could have been dealing 10's but getting spoiled with 1-2's the having to wait for rides that were walk on earlier just stunk. Teen bopper girls everywhere. And I thought the Brazillion's of Brazilians took their trips in the summer? They were everywhere too. Caribbean beach food court went from 2 people in line to 20.

Also peeved the MK fire dept isn't a fire dept anymore.

Have to finish my last TR so i can get working on this one.

Sorry to hear about the extra crowds. MK hit park capacity during our trip in October. Never been there when that happened before. It was crazy. It will pass.

But, you'll have to deal with him again briefly in 2. Just deal with it.

Someone refresh my memory. When we saw it as kids, did Gredo shoot first or did Han? I know it was switched with a later release.

In the original, Han shot first.

I think the story is that Lucas changed it because it made Han look bad.

All good points. I suppose I should look on the bright side in the fact that she is excited to get into the Star Wars series.

I don't remember that, but will take your word for it. I remember that Greedo had his gun drawn and Han was able to get his gun out and shoot him. If someone is pointing a gun at you, I think it's ok to shoot first.

Monday Star Wars ownage.

Then that introduces the question of how the heck did Gredo miss from 4 feet away?!

He was so green with envy that he couldn't see 2' in front of him. He really wanted to be around for Akbar to say,"It's a trap!".

He was not a very good bounty hunter...he was no Boba Fett.

Seriously, you are absolutely right. Another example of Lucas fixing something that wasn't broken. In the first movie, Han was a smuggler, a rogue, a money-hungry opportunist. At the end, he finds redemption and believes in the cause. There was no need to make his killing of Greedo more "just" and "in self-defense". Greedo was a bounty hunter who was threatening Han Solo and was going to take him to see Jabba. Han was a bad a-- and killed him first. There was no reason to make it any more justifiable than that.

700th post!!

I thought you said you were done after 2 kids?
errr... the wife is at work and i don't stray.

Work is easy. Feeling like your dice are in a vice all day is not. It's for the surgery. Excuse me... procedure.
Way to get the rest of us excited about doing this! :woohoo: :sad2::sad2:

Don't feel so bad. After Darth Vader cut his hand off, my son asked if Luke could eat yogurt to make it grow back(I'm not kidding). We wrote that down and now have the quote hanging in our kitchen. He was 6 when he asked it. Talk about missing the point and a complete non sequitur to boot.
