DIS Dads DDC XVI - Here because Fed allows it.

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Definitely a red-letter day here at the SAHDad household. Yesterday, DD threw a rock at a neighbor kid, and hit him in the head. (She spent the rest of the day in her room, and had to apologize. Still working out other punishment details - he got a small cut, so fortunately it was not too bad, and yes, she and I have talked with his parents) And this morning, the toilet in our bathroom went kaput - water everywhere. I think the vast majority of it stayed there - have fans going, and monitoring the situation here at home instead of running. Naturally, DW is out of town on a business trip, so she is missing all the fun. :headache:

Hey guys. Posting from the peanut gallery here.

The next halftime show I see that I actually enjoy will be the first.

I don't know. I thought the Who were OK a few years ago. Since then... meh.

As others have noted, it sounds like useless management seminar crap. Good luck!
...
I've been "volunteered" to attend management/leadership training a few times. Every single one can be boiled down to: Honesty. Tact. Good communication. Really, is there anything else left to say?

Probably not, but given the growth of Management Cosultancy, the Bobs might argue differently. :lmao:

I come in 15 minutes late or so. I use the back door, so Lumberg doesn't see me. Then I sit at my desk and kinda space out for an hour.

Bob Slydell: Milton Waddams.

Dom Portwood: Who's he?

Bob Porter: You know, squirrely looking guy, mumbles a lot.

Dom Portwood: Oh, yeah.

Bob Slydell: Yeah, we can't actually find a record of him being a current employee here.

Bob Porter: I looked into it more deeply and I found that apparently what happened is that he was laid off five years ago and no one ever told him about it; but through some kind of glitch in the payroll department, he still gets a paycheck.

Bob Slydell: So we just went ahead and fixed the glitch.

Bill Lumbergh: Great.

Dom Portwood: So, uh, Milton has been let go?

Bob Slydell: Well, just a second there, professor. We, uh, we fixed the *glitch*. So he won't be receiving a paycheck anymore, so it'll just work itself out naturally.

Bob Porter: We always like to avoid confrontation, whenever possible. Problem is solved from your end

Work environments like that don't help. I used to be at an office where the bosses would always reward the guys who were working tons of evenings and weekends. Their view was that these were obviously the dedicated workers. It never occurred to them that they might be the worst procrastinators/time managers. Sorry, but I'm not going to be at work unless I have to be there. I'd rather be with my family!

I appreciate all the guys who've stuck around. It's a cool group. :thumbsup2

Thanks Mark. I appreciate that. You know you're not such a bad guy after all..... wait, I'm not included in that group? Oh, well... carry on. :headache:

You must have the most interesting resume ever. :lmao:

I was going to comment about Fed's resume here, but when you resume reads:

Fed. <Redacted>

I suppose that doesn't read very exciting. :lmao:

I remember seeing a cartoon years ago about the first thing a sys admin needs to do when they start a new job: change all of the admin passwords. Instant job security!

Problem with this is that every sysadmin sets their password to "microsoftsucks" so that's not truly effective.

I guess we can assume it can only get better from here?

Sorry you have to deal with this alone. :sad2:

I'll bet you do. :headache:
Thanks for the texts last night... apparently I was texting a few people. I had to go back and see what I was writing. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

You let me out of the "Dole Whips for life" bet. But then you said you accidentally erased your text messages and don't have a record of it. True Story.:thumbsup2

I’ve had to do that kind on nonsense in the past (it’s a tactic that gets taught in “effective management seminars”).

No good will come of this.
i thought it was managements job to figure out your strengths and weakness.:confused3 tammys in h.r. , admit nothing.:thumbsup2

trying to finalize our vacation plans so we can make the rest of our ADRs. So far, it is shaping up like this:

Sunday: Arrive at WDW (BLT) D: ??
Monday: MK B: Ohana L: QS D: QS
Tuesday: EPCOT B: QS @ resort L: QS D: Via Napoli
Wednesday: leave WDW, board Dream B: resort
Thursday: Cruise
Friday: Cruise
Saturday: Cruise
Sunday: Debark, back to WDW (Beach Club) D: ??
Monday: Free day (to readjust to land) B: ?? L: ?? D: ??
Tuesday: DD's Bibbity Bobbity Boutique Day - morning MK, evening EPCOT B: QS (Main Street Bakery) L: ?? D: Akershus
Wednesday: AK morning/DTD @ night B: Tusker House L: snack D: T-Rex??
Thursday: Hollywood Studios B: Boardwalk Bakery L: ?? D: ??
Friday: MK B: ?? L: ?? D: ??
Saturday: leave for home

So, you may have notice a few ?? in there... one of the problems we're having is that with the new schedule, DW and I don't see each other all that much. I was hoping we'd sit down this weekend and get it ironed out, but no such luck. On our list of places we'd like to work in:

Cape May Cafe character breakfast
Beaches and Cream
Earl of Sandwich
Flying Fish (possibly)
DW and DD want to do Afternoon Tea at GF

on character breakfast days, we probably won't do much for lunch, opting to snack instead, or split QS meal. No plans for dining plan at this point. Might get TIW.

I recall you congratulating me on the Giants win and you saying you were rooting for the Giants. There is no record of any Dole Whip talk.... although someone mentioned on FB I should treat everyone to Dole Whips since my 3rd quarter score came in. :cool2:

You dropped the phone in the toilet, which erased those messages.

LOL....

Weird that every other one of your messages are still here. :confused3

It's ok.... you want out of the bet? send me a box full of cheese fudge. ::yes::

Sorry, man. I'm a Wisconsin Crack dealer. Your first sample of cheese is free - the rest you have to pay for!

Sorry about the unfortunate issues the past couple of days. Good luck getting it all resolved.

Were you afraid the Giants were going to lose or something? Why were you trying to make yourself forget about the Super Bowl??? :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

how convenient for DW... sorry to hear you had to deal with this! Glad to hear the other kid was relatively okay. hope the worst is behind for a while!!

Noted.

And ignored.

Now you're starting to sound like my boss. :rotfl2:

That lasted a good 2 years before he was canned. I never went along with it, not wanting to play suck up. After he was canned the behavior amongst the other staff suddenly stopped, because the new (& current president) said he wouldn't do that, nor expect the staff to do so, since that kind of nonsense messes with individual family lives.

Now there's a rare boss!

In the current situation, THIS president sends late night missives to the "staff" only one way - via pillow talk. And it's much better than email. :lovestruc

Sleeping with the help, eh?

You betcha! And not afraid to talk about it either! :lovestruc

My friend brought over a case of Guinness and bottles of Jameson and Bailey's. We were doing car bombs for a few hours before the game. Not sure if that was a smart idea. :confused3

hang in there!!! :thumbsup2

That's the theory, anyway. :lmao:

It's not a huge deal to handle it alone. There are more than a couple months of the year where DW is gone from about the time the kids are waking up until after the youngest is in bed (and the oldest is in jammies). And then she is so worn out that most of the parenting falls to me on the weekends as well.

Oh well. I have the number for a contractor - need to give him a call. Looks like we will be doing the planned bathroom remodel a little earlier than anticipated. :sad2: (We can swing it, but this past month has also seen a new computer purchase b/c the hard drive was dieing, and a new mattress to replace the one that we got when we got married -so it's been a pricey year so far.)
