DIS Dads DDC XVI - Here because Fed allows it.

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

I’ve had to do that kind on nonsense in the past (it’s a tactic that gets taught in “effective management seminars”).

No good will come of this.

I concur.

I've been through that before.

With the last employer.

The one who dumped me.

Of course the person in charge who made that determination was an idiot, but you know, I bear him no ill will.

At least not a lot of it.

Good Morning!

I hope everyone enjoyed superbowl weekend. I see somebody won a little bit of dough. That's nice!!

I was in a couple of small pools, but did not win. That safety to open up the scoring must have had everyone scrambling to look at their numbers again, and doing math to figure out their chances. People who thought they had horrible numbers suddenly got excited!

I thought the game was pretty good. I missed a lot of it because I was on duty with the kids. I caught some of the halftime show and thought madonna's performance was meh. There didn't seem to be much energy to it.

How's the new job going?

You're a good, honest person with a strong moral compass.
I, however, ain't. Just point him out and I'll bear him as much ill will as you want inflicted him. :thumbsup2

This is a good sized group of folks, but our membership numbers are a might deceiving.

Yes, we have 679 members, but

Only 172 have ever posted more then 10 comments.

At 50 or more total posts over the life of the club the active membership drops to 94 and only 67 folks have posted 100 or more times since our origin in 2007.

That last one is really a better gauge of our active membership.

Exactly. Very good job of pointing out with statistics what I've felt all along. Too many times that larger number gets bandied about as if it were something real. Way too many on the "list" are really just "like it" posters. They see it, think it's cool, and as if this were Facebook, just "like" the thread, say "hi" and then move on. Whether or not they continue to read and enjoy I cannot say, but the proof is in the posting, as your stats well demonstrate. I know 1 if not 2 who no longer post on the DIS at all, having left because they found a "nicer" board that they enjoy more, and there are probably more like them.

I don't recall if you've ever cruised before, but you eat breakfast on the boat, then they kick you off. If you have the early dinner seating, you'll probably be off the ship by 9. Depending on your mode of transportation to/from the ship, you'll be back at WDW in plenty of time to hit Beaches & Cream for lunch.

And I bolded Main Street Bakery only because I've had a heck of a hankering for their egg, ham & cheese croissant sandwich lately.

This will be my 4th cruise overall. 2nd official disney cruise. I took into account that we'd have breakfast on the ship, and I just wasn't sure how we'd be feeling once we got back to WDW. We may very well not be hungry after all the food on the ship... or we may be so used to stuffing our faces that we'll need to eat lunch AND dinner... :confused3 Beaches and Cream may work very well that day.

I could eat a bacon/ham egg and cheese croissant from Main Street or the Boardwalk every day of the trip!

How's the new job going?

New job is going well so far. It would be going even better if I knew when to expect a paycheck from it! We launch the show this evening, airing live in China (8am their time, I believe).

I have to break the news to our anchor this evening that she will not be getting a return feed (meaning she can't see the show as it's airing)... She will not like this, and the decision comes from way over my head and from DC... so it will be a fun discussion.

Why am I Always being thrown under the Bus?!?

And where are those pictures of the DISDad's bus anyways?!? :confused3

Actually, it wasn't your fault Randall - though you were part of the peer pressure of which Norm succumbed to himself, while then trying to blame me for his own post padding. Tisk tisk. ;) I can't say that I had anything to do with it. You on the other hand, were the one he was trying to catch and surpass in post count, which is why I mentioned you. Not to throw you under the bus, but to absolve myself from his blame game. So I apologize good sir for throwing you under the bus. :drive:

As is noted in some of his comments throughout Super Bowl Sunday...

Morning. I'm resisting the urge to post 4 or 5 pages to pad the count. I don't know how much longer I can be successful.

Dis dad post padding.

I'm playing now.

I have to keep my post count up to stay ahead of you and Don. Maybe I can catch Andy and Randall. Maybe.

Think I can do it?

And of course, as the individual who has taken the crown for the most posts of any Dad in any single DDC thread - we all know that Norm is very capable, by his own merits, of adequately, and successfully padding a thread with posts - without need of anyone else being under the bus. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Just as I am capable, by my own merits, of adequately, and successfully padding multiple threads with single line comments or photos! :lmao:

I vote for the "used to stuffing our faces":thumbsup2

We're staying a Boardwalk in August - our first time there. I didn't know they had the croissant sandwiches. So you're saying that on MK days, I can have one before leaving the hotel, then another when I get to the park? :cloud9::cloud9:

I have to break the news to our anchor this evening that she will not be getting a return feed (meaning she can't see the show as it's airing)... She will not like this, and the decision comes from way over my head and from DC... so it will be a fun discussion.
Just put a mirror in front of her. :thumbsup2

I have dwelt in that very cave, but the “persons” that sacked me weren’t as much idiots as mercenary sociopaths.

I know 1 if not 2 who no longer post on the DIS at all, having left because they found a "nicer" board…

Nicer? We ain’t that… bad.

Is there a problem with that?

:cool2:

None that I’m aware of.

So...are we measuring things now to prove our Disdadness. :confused3

:lmao:

Naaaaa…

I just had the numbers in front of me so I thought I’d share.

Last week my boss sent an email to everyone in my group asking that we take a few minutes and send her a list of our strengths and weaknesses in relation to the programs/hardware we use. We all have individual meetings with her set up this week to go over out lists. I have no idea what she's getting at with this. Has anyone else gone through anything like this?

Around here there would be two ways this could go:

Know too little, we know who needs to attend training or is expendable.

Know too much, we now have a Subject Matter Expert who can teach some training class or we can all bug with questions.

Either way, you're not gonna like the results. :headache:

That's what I said when told of the departure, but then it was further explained that it wasn't within this thread, but rather the host site as a whole, and OTHER threads where the unpleasantries took place.

Most are still around. They just don't hang out here. Even minniekissedme was around as of last Nov.
