54 Days....Just sayin'

4 Days...Just Sayin':rotfl2:

I plan on making the Fantasy Football Entry fee thing again next fall...that helped raise the numbers...though we didn't get 100% participation that I had hoped for...we did get over 50%. :thumbsup2

That gave us a great boost.

Zerphonics at work! :thumbsup2

You've been a fine student Christian, and you've now passed the course. A+ for you!

Dave must be so proud.

:rotfl:

I'm using a chinese keyboard and writing in american, I hope that explains things.:rotfl2:

That's what I said when told of the departure, but then it was further explained that it wasn't within this thread, but rather the host site as a whole, and OTHER threads where the unpleasantries took place.

Unpleasantries in threads on the Disboards???:confused3 That's unheard of! :lmao::rotfl2:

Apparently MIA flipped the bird at the TV camera. I didn't see it though, I didn't even watch the halftime show. I had no desire to see Madonna perform.

The next halftime show I see that I actually enjoy will be the first.

Last week my boss sent an email to everyone in my group asking that we take a few minutes and send her a list of our strengths and weaknesses in relation to the programs/hardware we use. We all have individual meetings with her set up this week to go over out lists. I have no idea what she's getting at with this. Has anyone else gone through anything like this?

As others have noted, it sounds like useless management seminar crap. Good luck!

No, but my advice is to list your strengths and when you list your weaknesses write kryptonite and Lois Lane! :rotfl2:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I’ve had to do that kind on nonsense in the past (it’s a tactic that gets taught in “effective management seminars”).

No good will come of this.

I've been "volunteered" to attend management/leadership training a few times. Every single one can be boiled down to: Honesty. Tact. Good communication. Really, is there anything else left to say?

I see you've been missing a lot of work lately.
I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Bob.

I come in 15 minutes late or so. I use the back door, so Lumberg doesn't see me. Then I sit at my desk and kinda space out for an hour.

When I was in I/T… this stuff wasn’t a team building exercise. It was a prelude to “Regular FTE Reduction”. In our rather hostile environment the only “effective manager” was one whose staff was contracting (either the enlisted folks disappeared… or the officers did).

Work environments like that don't help. I used to be at an office where the bosses would always reward the guys who were working tons of evenings and weekends. Their view was that these were obviously the dedicated workers. It never occurred to them that they might be the worst procrastinators/time managers. Sorry, but I'm not going to be at work unless I have to be there. I'd rather be with my family! [/QUOTE]

Exactly. Very good job of pointing out with statistics what I've felt all along. Too many times that larger number gets bandied about as if it were something real. Way too many on the "list" are really just "like it" posters. They see it, think it's cool, and as if this were Facebook, just "like" the thread, say "hi" and then move on. Whether or not they continue to read and enjoy I cannot say, but the proof is in the posting, as your stats well demonstrate. I know 1 if not 2 who no longer post on the DIS at all, having left because they found a "nicer" board that they enjoy more, and there are probably more like them.

I appreciate all the guys who've stuck around. It's a cool group. :thumbsup2

New job is going well so far. It would be going even better if I knew when to expect a paycheck from it! We launch the show this evening, airing live in China (8am their time, I believe).

Glad to hear it's going well. Hopefully that paycheck is in the mail!

Just as I am capable, by my own merits, of adequately, and successfully padding multiple threads with single line comments or photos! :lmao:

:rotfl2:

Note the efficient use of multi-quotes above...:rolleyes1

But what's going to do with all of that real estate where the "backspace" key was? Bacon dispenser?

Barry, don't forget to list in your strengths that you know where the bodies are buried. :rotfl:

I remember seeing a cartoon years ago about the first thing a sys admin needs to do when they start a new job: change all of the admin passwords. Instant job security!

Glad to hear it's going well. Hopefully that paycheck is in the mail!
It probably got mailed to the corporate office in China. You can swing by and pick it up next time you're in town.

Sounds like I don’t often travel through some of the more contested forums.

I’d ask where this manner of ridiculousness is occurring, but if I remember correctly… the first rule of fight club, is that no one talks about fight club.

I use to get in early… work through lunch… stay long after time…
I was younger and far more foolish. What I gave up was accepted, but never recognized or worse seen as “their due”. No more. What I’m responsible for gets done and done well (and then some), but I don’t give time away anymore. They have to take it (only problem is that “take” is all some ever do).

Oh yeah. The former president of the company I was last with set the example that so many followed. He would check his email around 11pm - 12 midnight for the day and reply, sending out various missives of things for people to get done. Did that long enough, then most people in the company were up doing the same stinkin' thing. That lasted a good 2 years before he was canned. I never went along with it, not wanting to play suck up. After he was canned the behavior amongst the other staff suddenly stopped, because the new (& current president) said he wouldn't do that, nor expect the staff to do so, since that kind of nonsense messes with individual family lives. But wowie the pressure I kept getting from superiors as to why I wouldn't "play along" and reply to email late at night while the guy was still around.

Corporate politics. Bleh.

NOT missing that crap at all!

In the current situation, THIS president sends late night missives to the "staff" only one way - via pillow talk. And it's much better than email. :lovestruc

Sleeping with the help, eh?

I vote for the "used to stuffing our faces":thumbsup2

We're staying a Boardwalk in August - our first time there. I didn't know they had the croissant sandwiches. So you're saying that on MK days, I can have one before leaving the hotel, then another when I get to the park? :cloud9::cloud9:

If you get one at the boardwalk, you can then say you're just going into the MK to exchange it for one because you wanted bacon instead of ham, and they'll let you in for free!

Just put a mirror in front of her. :thumbsup2

oh, she'll be able to see herself. She just won't be able to see when she's on the air or not since the DC people have control of that.

here's some of her work from her previous job at bloomberg. This is what I have to work with every night. :rolleyes1

Just go to the theme park strategies board, open a nice cold drink of your choice and just sit back and watch. :3dglasses :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:
