Nice pics and thanks for the update, Christopher!! Keep 'em coming :thumbsup2

It's Thursday... one day closer to the weekend. :cool1: Those posts about switching work hours got me to reminiscing about the old Navy days when we had to work a rotating shift schedule. The thought of have to switch from days, swings, mids makes me want to vomit. Worst 6 months of my life (work wise). So... in saying that... I give kudos to those that must endure shift work to support their family :thumbsup2 AND... I REALLY appreciate my 7-4 mon-fri job! :lmao::lmao:

Just sitting here watching a NCIS marathon.

For me, every day is an NCIS marathon:headache::lmao:

So I walk into Costco tonight for some milk and chicken and come out with the mentioned and a leather recliner :rotfl2:

Don't you love how that works? I saw the chair last year and liked it alot, and as it would go it was gone. I ran in tonight and almost waited to come back for one until I found out it was their last one :scared1:

I did this with a boat one time...luckily I was still single, and my girlfriend (now wife) just rolled her eyes, laughed and said "only you"....wondering if I'd get the same reaction now:confused3

Stopher...man, that place looks NICE!!

Well, I'm off to do case briefs....the REAL NCIS:lmao::lmao:

But we couldn't cover it with just two people, so we gave up. We're going to try again next week - hopefully with at least one more panel member with experience at Wilderness Lodge.

Sorry you had so much trouble! My wife was scrapbooking on the computer all night, so I wasn't on Skype. I can cover the Wilderness Lodge at some point if you need me.

Aloha gents!

Wow, great pictures, Stopher! I'll have to go check out your blog.

I've been to the Pearl Harbor memorial twice in my life--it is absolutely deserving of a place on your bucket lists. Standing over the USS Arizona is very eerie, and very moving. People still maintain silence and respect as they wander through the memorial.

What did you do in the Navy Don? Almost my entire career was spent in some for of shift work, but that's due to how submarines operate. We worked on 18 hr days, so every shift was a swing shift.

Ive been to the memorial 3 times, and yes it is a very moving experience. That was on my bucket list of things I wanted to, and I plan on going back once they finish with all of the construction at the landing site.

I went to bed at 10:30 and got up at 10 till 4. I think its a mix of clean living, no alcohol, and plenty of Beverly when you wake up in the morning!:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I thought I would try this life style so I did a quick search to see where I could get my hands on some Beverly. Unfortunately they don't sell it anywhere in the US. I will have to start searching Italian sites to see if I can get it shipped here.:rotfl:

Christopher Great pictures and updates!:thumbsup2

‘Morning All…
And ain’t it a lovely!

Stopher!
Thanks for the update. You know we’re all looking forward to these on a daily bases now. I’d say I was jealous, but it would just be a pointless exercise in utter futility. I’ll have to go read you blog this evening.

I really need to get to Pearl Harbor at a minimum. It just figuring out how that’s got me bum-fuzzled.

Given your proximity to one another… I’m surprised y’all haven’t tried to put together a DDC-Meet yet (unless you have and I just wasn’t paying attention… which would come under the heading of normal). Either way, I suspect that there’d be some good stories told back and forth over those beers.

What?

Are y’all actually working or something?
(or is the response time that bad?)

Aloha gents! Here it is just about 11pm, and many of you will be getting up and starting your day in just an hour or two. This whole time change thing bites at times... but at least it's just 5 hours from home right now - during the summer months it's 6 hours - and trying to work out when to speak with my brother on the phone is a bear! I ended up not being able to see him today, but tomorrow night we're going to dinner - so that's cool. And then he's coming over to Aulani on Friday to check it out and hang out for a while before we go off and do some sight-seeing.

Today I went to Pearl Harbor. I've never been there before, but had studied the attacks in years gone by. It was very, very moving. It's amazing how many men are entombed in those waters, and more amazing to see the list of names of survivors, who when they passed, requested that their remains be added to the site to be back once again with their fallen shipmates. And it's amazing to see the oil still leaking from the hull these 70+ years later. They said about 2 quarts per day still leak out, and removing whatever remains is not even an option since it is hallowed, sacred ground.

I'm attaching just two pictures tonight, the first from the excursion that I took this afternoon to Pearl Harbor. This view is from the boat ride back over to the Visitor's Center, after having been onboard the USS Arizona Memorial. The USS Missouri can be seen just to the left of the Arizona Memorial - and if you didn't know, is the ship on whose decks the Japanese finally signed the surrender documents with MacArthur.

The other picture is from my morning soak in the lower level of the "waterfall" hot tub - yes, there are two levels to this tub, because of course it is two separate tubs, but the upper sends water cascading down into the lower, which then also sends water cascading over the edge into a rock garden before being cycled back up to the upper tub. These two are some of the 5 different hot tubs at Aulani. They are also physically located right near the property's edge, and the walkway surrounding the lagoon. The view is spectacular, as you sit and soak.

This evening, I returned to soak in the hot tub, and was delighted by some aerial entertainment. It wasn't put on by Disney, but it surely could have been for the quality of it all. I have no photos, so you're going to just have to trust me on this one, (I know pics or it didn't happen - but I wasn't planning on anything exciting happening, and I was pictured out from taking over 400 shots today in my excursions). Anyway, right next door to Aulani, is the JW Marriott, and tonight they were hosting out on their lagoon-side lawn a luau for the various Pro Bowl athletes and their guests. As I sat in the hot tub, suddenly the sky lit up with a spectacular fireworks display. It was pretty darn awesome. No music or Disney schmaltz, but the colors and number of shells was very, very impressive. Marriott is one of the sponsors for the Pro Bowl, and was really putting on the ritz for their athlete guests. Everyone at Aulani was very excited thinking that it was a Disney show. Alas it wasn't, but when I stopped at the front desk asking about it afterward, I was told that the infrastructure is there (it was clearly an in-ground installation, not a temporary one - shooting up from the rock outcropping on the left side of the above picture near the ocean line), and there are possibilities that Disney will do something like it in the future, but for now, no plans are in place for Aulani fireworks displays. The infrastructure belongs to the overall Ko Olina resort, and they did do fireworks like these on New Year's Eve. So you never know... it could happen again in the future.

Alright - there will be some sort of an update to my blog tomorrow with additional thoughts, impressions, and yes photos - so check it out over there. Mahalo.

TTFN!

Ok, Christopher you have to stop this. I know you are only doing your job, but those of us who can't afford to go are going to have to mortgage our houses to visit. :rotfl2:

Seriously though it sounds like a blast. We visited DC this summer, and saw a bunch of memorials, including the 911 memorial and the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington cemetery. Very moving, and even as a Canadian you can't help but feel the national pride.

Nice pics and thanks for the update, Christopher!! Keep 'em coming :thumbsup2

We have talked about it, but I've been either on travel or OT for the last few months, so its been pretty hectic. I posted about this in DDC XIV, but I had about 1/2 to 3/4's of a man years worth of work turned over to me, in addition to my normal workload. Its all I can do to stay afloat right now.

Nice update Stopher. Pearl Harbor is definitely high on the list of places I want to visit. One of these days...

Original or LA? :confused3

Costco sells boats!?!?

Yep… devastating work loads would explain it. My work requirements are erratic at best. Sometimes I can't breathe… sometimes I’m rather under utilized. Right now, I have a bit of time (so I’m harassing y’all this morning).

Ten minutes form now… it could all change.

Almost went subs... but after visiting a fast attack over by Cocoa Beach I realized that being 6'2" is not a good height for sub life! :lmao: I was a nuke ET and spent time on the targets CVN-69 (USS Eisenhower) and CVN-73 (USS George Washington). Gotta respect submariners... that's a tough life there. :thumbsup2 A different breed for sure :lmao:

Yeah... same here. Life has been very crazy and I'm just now able to breath a little. Need to relax now... cause spring soccer season starts up first week of March  :cool1:

I stopped in American Jewlry and Loan, from Tru-tv's hardcore pawn. It was Tuesday afternoon and the place was packed. There was almost as many people in there as in the local Target. The people on the show were just standing around taking pictures with people and selling autographed t-shirts. I don't think they do much work there anymore. I was amazed watching the people line up to get there picture taken with pawn brokers. Disney characters I understand, but pawn brokers?:confused3:rotfl:

could be worse I suppose... snookie or any of the other jersey shore delinquents. :confused3

Beef = good
Ice cream cake = really good
Tv = good

reminded me of the las vegas billboard I saw in times square last night. I'll get a pic of it tonight when I am there. It says:

BEEF. BOOZE. BROADS.

So I walk into Costco tonight for some milk and chicken and come out with the mentioned and a leather recliner :rotfl2:

were they out of shopping carts?? reminds me of an old dennis the menace episode where he wins the shopping spree, anything he can carry out of the store. The first thing he grabbed was a canoe (i think), and everyone laughed. But then he proceeded to fill the canoe and then push it out the door. Or maybe it was a hammock?

So what you're saying is, always use the higher level, this way noone else's fluids come pouring down on to you in the lower?? :lmao::rotfl2:

I thank you as well, Randall.
