We just need another way to assuage the guilt factor.

Throw a Disney Movie Party. Invite the neighbors and have them bring their best nosh.
This one will also get all the kids involved and not just the ones with a sports interest.

Other Disney centric things to celebrate on Feburary 5th :

1934: The U.S. Patent Office grants a patent to the Ingersoll-Waterbury Clock Company, of Connecticut, for the first Mickey Mouse watch.

1953: Disney's 14th animated film, Peter Pan (based on James M. Barrie's 1904 story) opens at the Roxy Theatre in New York City.

1992: Disney's Beauty and the Beast is nominated for six Academy Awards.

2004: Imagineer, artist and Disney Legend John Hench passes away at the age of 95 in Burbank, California.
(That one in not a cause for celebration… but the fella deserves that you at least hoist a good drink in his honor)

And the direct Super Bowl connection…

2006: Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receiver Hines Ward is named Most Valuable Player at Super Bowl XL upon his team's 21-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Immediately following the game in Detroit, Ward is videotaped for the latest "I'm Going to Disney World!" TV commercial, adding "...and I'm taking The Bus!" - a reference to teammate Jerome "The Bus" Bettis.

I'll keep it simpler--it's my daughter's birthday!

For some reason, she doesn't want to combine her birthday party with a Super Bowl party. :confused3

I see you're raising a good Eagles fan there. She's learning that the Super Bowl is not someting to celebrate. :rotfl2:

what are you in politics????? scratched out all the content of the post!! :lmao:

me? in politics? never. why would you think that? :confused3

still waiting for the phone call... but did get a follow up email that said a follow up phone call would be coming.

Kept DD home today because she was coughing all through the night and this morning. She seems fine now though, so even if she has the cough again tonight, I think we'll send her to school tomorrow. probably just a cough... always worse at night with her.

And.... DW's new Iphone 4S was just delivered! I'll be setting that up for her once she gets home.

I've driven down to Key Largo before and I have to ask, "HOW CAN YOU DRIVE OVER 40?" I found it rather furstrating that I was on my way to a meeting and ended up being over an hour late due to the causway traffic. :headache:

Are you sure you are directing that to the yankees or the canucks? :rotfl2:

Key Largo starts a few miles of two lanes. People are in a hurry to pass the campers and other slow pokes that they hit the pedal a little hard. FHP and Monroe Co. Sheriffs are more than glad to empty out transgressors wallets.

Try going to the Lower Keys and there is an accident on US 1 down there. Might as well pitch a tent because you are not going anywhere.

To the second point, Yes and Yes.

For me, I will be swimming with sharks in Roatan that day. No, not lawyers, the real things. Happy pre-birthday to your daughter.

I have a good friend who cannot merge for her life. She comes to a complete stop and then tries to shoot out onto the highway.

The first step is to match the speed of the cars you are trying to merge with people!!!

Exactly! It is called a 'ramp' for a reason - as in 'ramp up your speed'. :thumbsup2

So today is my first "at home" appointment with clients - so far if I meet people in person, we meet at Panera, or Chick-Fil-A, Paradise Bakery, their office, or something like that. Friends of ours are coming to an early dinner - and then it's time to break out the Disney talk. We've been chatting for a while now, and finally she said last week that she wants her husband to hear it all first hand. She's jazzed and pumped and is basically ready to sign on the dotted line, so to speak - but at least wants to give him the courtesy of knowing what he's about to spend a boatload of $ on. :lmao: They've never been before, and are planning a 12 day stay next January - and wants "LOTS" of fun built in to it. Parks, food, activities, side treks - the whole enchillada. They're getting so excited - well, she is - and their 2 daughters are. Sadly he has no real clue what he's in for, but hey - that's okay. I prepped him by phone the other day a bit, but she made me promise not to give away too much in advance.

And this is just the first family of the group... there will be 23 in total going. This particular family is the "lead" or organizing bunch - and then the rest will fall into line next. That'll be fun. I'm excited about it.

Should be fun.

Sounds like fun. Is that 23 people going or 23 families? Either way, it's a good haul!!:thumbsup2

Good Morning,

going back to get caught up since yesterday afternoon, but wanted to share some potentially good news first.

I may have found a job!! Waiting now for a phone call to arrange specifics. Could be working as soon as tonight or tomorrow. It fits my SAHD schedule almost perfectly, as it's 6:30-10:30pm.

:cool1::woohoo:

That's awesome... congrats

Just tryin' to see if anyone was awake! Congratulations, you win!

It only took a page and a half for anyone to say anything. So either, there are other Dads on here that don't know what teams are in the NFC vs. the AFC, or people really don't give a crap about what I post!

I'm leaning toward the latter. :thumbsup2

Me too... :rotfl2:

23 people. One extended family. Grandma & Grandpa are paying for the accomodations & food portion - the individual "kid" families will be contributing for their tickets and extra activities. There are 4 "kid" families, each with very different aged kids and VERY different ideas about what they want to do. The couple last night's kids are 7 & 11... the rest fall below the 7 year old, though one has a 2 and a 15. (There's an oops, if ever I heard of one).

The family I met with last night is basically the "lead" family - paving the way. As the husband said, pretty much 2 of his 3 siblings will follow what he does or close to it - the other one, no way... she's a "free spirit" and doesn't think they need to be planning their vacation a year in advance. :rotfl: He was telling me that she'll probably call to arrange her part about 3 weeks out - and he's hoping that she "crashes & burns". DEFINITE ill feelings between those two! No matter how it all plays out, I'll be doing a lot of this popcorn:: I'm sure.
