Cleaned out the garage this weekend... and bought all new garage cabinets. Figured if I'm going to get organized, it's time to invest in good storage. Ended up buying a line of cabinets made by Kobalt (made in USA) from Lowes. These things are heavy duty! :thumbsup2 Unfortunately, according to the instruction book, they take about 3 1/2 hours to put together.... EACH. And I bought 8 units.

i took care of the storage problem, saved myself alot of money on cabnets.
i just tossed anything i didnt touch in the last year. :lmao:

Quiet day... Did everybody run out of things to talk about after this weekend> :lmao::rotfl2:

Wait... we are supposed to have things to say in our posts. When did this happen?

Boardwalk is the only DVC we've stayed at and I can testify to the fact that they need updating. HOWEVER... the location can't be beat. I'd stay there again! :thumbsup2

Looking at the non-direct DVC market Boardwalk is really appealing. I've been looking at a 150 pt contract that currently has its full current and last years points available.

If I use those to cover the big multi-room trip we want to do in Sept and marathon weekend next year. I'll have recouped more than half my upfront cost in year 1 and we'll break even between year 2 and 3 even with the much higher annual dues.

The only thing I'd think about is the end of the contract for Boardwalk, not sure what year it is, but it will be a few years earlier than the newer resorts (AKL, BLT). I initially asked about buying at Boardwalk (through Disney) and they talked me out of it because I'd end up with 10 or so fewer years than BLT.

I have family that owns at BW though, and love it. And that location is perfect.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Everybody must be taking a much deserved holiday from posting... :lmao:

Well... almost everyone.

I'm working today, but you know what...that's okay with me. Met with a family this morning to discuss one of my favorite vacation destinations - and they fed me lunch as well. :thumbsup2

Came home from that meeting and found 2 more quote requests in my inbox, plus a VM regarding quoting a cruise.

Then got another cruise request in my inbox.

So while I'm sitting here working on these things... I get to also check in and post here.

AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF ... my I.T. guy doesn't care if I go on the DIS or not... in fact he's pretty HAPPY to have me on the DIS. :lmao:

i cant even get on through my phone. i tried a few times today and sometimes it wont even load. hope eveyones doing well.:thumbsup2

Well now that sucks! Whatever did you do before that phone? :lmao:

i took care of the storage problem, saved myself alot of money on cabnets.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I have too much stuff I actually use! I used almost all my tools on that bathroom install!

I bet there is quite a selection in that market for resales... given the current economy. I'm sure Christopher could give more advice :thumbsup2

That is a very good point. BW is basically only a 30 year contract now. I think I'm okay with saving 40% now to get about 25% less useful life out of the contract. In my skewed mind I think I'd rather be able to afford more points now so we can take more trips in the short term than worry about Disney trips in 30 years. At that point the house will have long been paid off so I hope that I can afford to pay out of pocket for Disney.

Now that's just rubbing it in Stopher!

Glad to see that things are going well. It's always good to come home to work waiting for you when you're self-employed.

2042

All resorts prior to SSR are 2042, with the exception of extended points at OKW which are 2057.

SSR began the shift back to actual 50 year contracts. SSR goes to 2054, AKV to 2057, VGC & BLT are 2060, and Aulani is 2062.

Ohhh the crooked TA's!! For some reason I just can't stand travel agents. I feel like I am in a car dealership.

But you are going to tropical paradise. You watch survivor, so now you know what bugs to eat and know how to build shelter. If you watched Gillian's island you know how to build a washing machine out of palm fronds and bamboo.. You be alright! :thumbsup2

According to what I heard, the TA wasn't at fault. Just a bad judge of character for their "agent" in Roatan. He is the one that made off with the money. They ate the loss. I am just hoping they pick a better go-between with the new resort booking.

Also have to re watch the Lion King to see which bugs are creamy and which are crunchy. Ginger or Mary Ann? Interesting dilemma.

CJ that's terrible. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it all works out for you, and that it won't be as bad as you're thinking right now.

Now, now Carl - they're not ALL crooked and bad. These rotten apples do tend to give the entire lot of us a bad name, but there are many, many, many, many, many good ones out there. Who aren't crooked.

And when you think about it, there are bad apples in any profession... think of all of the lousy attorneys, doctors, teachers, car mechanics, contactors, politicians... the bad ones tend to sour our opinions of the whole lot even though there are many in each field that are quite good.

You are right Stopher, see above. I am also working with the same TA on the diving portion of our trip to Hawaii. That is if I have a room when we get there.

Ouch! :headache: That would be bad.
I hope y’all can get this mess straightened out before heading off.
Otherwise… I’m looking forward to hearing about the trip in general (pictures please).

Thanks Chris. Hopefully things work out. The diving is supposed to be fantastic there. The cameras, housing, spare batteries and charger are already packed. Plan on taking lots of pics.

One of the dives a friend of mine wants to do is a shark dive. They attract them by chumming the water and feeding them. If you don't hear from me by mid-February, you will know what happened.

As Fed mentioned, I only have to be faster than the slowest guy. Any sign of trouble, I will pull off one of my friend's fins.

Thanks.

Not quite booming, but the trajectory is headed in the right direction, and the pipeline is filling. :thumbsup2

Problem Don?!?

With moi?

I just can't figure what it might be.

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Nicely put Don, nicely put.

But those are your words, not mine.

Let's just say more than a third belong to me. :rolleyes1

Ok. Sounds good to me. :cool2:

:thumbsup2

No tools! Speechless.

:lmao::lmao: Maybe I need to get an iphone...

later is when you realy save. we bought in, it was $56.00 per point, a night at the all stars was $68.00. point values never change. if you pay $100 per point, thats what a point will be worth 30 years from now. the rate its going, a night a all star will be $350-$400 per night in 30 years.
total per year for me with initial buy in and main. comes to about $2600.00 per year. we take two trips and stay in a one bedroom at okw.

Oh, I'm sorry - I shouldn't have told you that my clients gave ME lunch (instead of the way it used to be with the employer when I had to pay for my clients)

;)

As stopher mentioned the BW contracts end in 2042. I won't be around by then so it is my daughter's problem. It is something to consider. Just realized we have had 15 years of trips out of our purchase. Lots of fun in those adventures. And you are right, the BW is in a perfect location.

Well... almost everyone.

Interesting take on things. Can't defy your logic. You can always add on other contracts.

Well then - why don't you continue to rub it in by sharing with us the contents of said lunch!

Unless it was a bologna sandwich and chips or something! :thumbsup2
