DIS Dads DDC XV - We put the "FUN" in dysfunctional! Christopher's thread...

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

DD had medal envy when we left seeing everyone wear their marathon medal. "I feel like such a slacker, just running the half." She vowed to do the marathon. And then the Goofy.

Congrats on marrying such an intelligent woman. Good luck doing your research and making a decision.

I was the naysayer in the family. We got a great rate at a 1BR in OKW and as soon as we entered the door, she was hooked. She told me that no matter what, we were doing this. I kept saying, "Its a TIMESHARE." After taking the tour and finding out about it, I was sold. Bought Day 1 when BW opened.

Also pleased with my membership. Lots of trips, lots of memories.
That was me last year. It was fun walking around in the half medal, but man I wanted the Mickey and Goofy medals too.

Still need to think about DVC. Seems like right now there is a 3k difference between AK and BLT. We only hit Disney in the off season so I need to figure out if we could get BLT on the trips we want it without buying in there or if I need to just go ahead and budget the extra money.

I'm so excited about Carsland. Can't wait to experience it for myself after it opens. The tour I got of the under-construction site last fall was incredible. It just looks so cool.

When will you all (at least those who've never been or live east of California) be heading west to experience the DLR? I know it's on several of your bucket lists... you've gotta do it. Really.

Maybe the DDC Convention in 2014 can be in Disneyland resort. :yay::yay::yay:

And here's a shot from a 2 BR at VGC, in honor of Ryan having already called DVC today! :thumbsup2

This was from our December 2010 stay. That's my FIL, who came and joined us. Directly behind him is Paradise Pier in DCA.

And then here's a view from the same room - just on the balcony - of World of Color.

This particular room is closer to the viewing platform they added to VGC when it was under construction - there are MUCH BETTER views as you move down the hall a little eastward.

One more - also from the 2 BR at VGC - here we were chowing down after I'd grilled a whole bunch of brats, burgers and the like. Lots of family members there - some came just for the afternoon/evening to visit. We had a great time there. Can't wait to do it again.

The villas at the GC really are amazing.

This post comes courtesy of my lovely DD who selected each of these just for you guys. She says :wave2:

Captain EO- Saw it for the first time last December. Saw it for the last time last December. And don't forget, I'm an MJ fan!

You know Tim - I do have it on video. I might just need to send it to you. Give it another try. I'm sure you'll like it... just make sure you have enough beer on hand, and I'm sure you'll like it. :rotfl:

I wish for the 60th they do like they did for the 30th... the Gift Giver Extraordinaire gave prizes to every 30th guest through the gates.

I'm pretty sure they won't, but it would be nice.

That is a spectacular view.

Now THAT is an idea I really like. I think that would be incredible. Or - put it off just one more year - to 2015 - and all of the festivities of the park's 60th could be a huge backdrop as well.

I'm sure that would be amazing. DCA is going to be a fantastic park once Carsland and the other construction work is finished.

Evening guys :thumbsup2

Ryan, congrats on the possible DVC membership :cool1:

How is your DVC membership going?

Chance what? :confused3

She doesn't like the menu. I think it looks great.

Hmmmm, I don't see a problem with that at all. :rotfl:

I didn't ask you.

that was fast!! :lmao: only 265 pages.

Stopher is working on a single closure.

Man it is a busy day today for us.....basketball trophy awards this morning....running errands afterweard...getting ready tohead to a birthday party...then to the Marshall vs Univ Central Florida basketball game. I think it is on one of the espn channels if you want to watch it at 7...I am sure the boo birds are going to be there in full force since their coach left us to go to them a few years ago...but we ended up with the better coach in the end...hope our team shows up tonight to play!:cheer2:

It's always about the players. Good coaches can get the most out of their players and design I scheme for advantage, but it is still about the players.

Btmrr construction

I got y'all this dole whip.

Congrats. On the metal, not just the dole whip.

As for DVC, we own at SSR and BLT. As for the WDW DVC resorts, we've stayed at all except Beach Club. My favorite is BLT followed by WL. I really liked BWV and the area and convenience to Epcot and DHS, but MK is my favorite park. I could go to WDW and go to MK every day. So, those two are the closest. Knowing that I can walk to MK from BLT makes it that much better. Plus, I get the meal convenience of CR plus monorail resorts.

Here's the old Skull Rock from the original Fantasyland at DL (prior to the redo with New Fantasyland in 1983). It as part of the inspiration for my logo with what I'm doing now.

THIS SPACE FOR RENT

Did you lose a bet?

It's just a simple statement of fact and not at all, in any way, related to his offering of DVC memberships to a set number of DisDads if he wins the lottery.

:rolleyes1

Wooo! I found my powerball ticket from Wednesday and just checked the numbers, I won $3! Penny candy is on me tonight, boys!

Should we start another DDC thread and just let stopher finish this one off? Looks like where this is headed anyways. :rotfl2::thumbsup2

I moved some DVC questions I was going to put here to the DVC thread.

It was fantastic before construction started. :thumbsup2

We enjoyed DCA but it seemed like there was a lot less there than at Disney land. It was also really tight coming through the main entrance because of all the construction walls that were up. The construction walls heading down towards the Art of Animation really closed the park in. I think visually the park will seem much bigger once the walls come down and it will add another e-ticket too. It was amazing to see from the top of the Funwheel how much of the park was under construction.
