Morning everyone

Oh man! You just beat me! hehe... Hopefully you won't be only NM member for long...

"Hi, my name is Brad, and I am a Disneyaholic"
For several years, this has been my mantra. My wife is looking for professional help for me, but problem is they can't help you if you don't want it.

I went to DL for the 1st time in 1975. Then served as a Youth Pastor in Long Beach,CA for 6 years, and had many trips to DL with the youth. But honestly, my Disney obsession didn't start until 1999 when I stood watching Minnie holding my beautiful 3-month old baby girl and I knew I would never be the same. Since then, we have never missed a year without Disney.

SO what would qualify me to be a Disney Dad?
  • Many trips to DL, marched in the Disney Parades wearing a tutu with my little girls
  • Took our 5th wheel out one year and parked in RV park next door
  • Bought into DVC, and decided we were going to make Disney our yearly family vacation no matter what else we did

For 13 years, we have made Disney such a total part of our lives, and I absolutely LOVE planning, dreaming, researching, learning. We just went on the new Dream in November, and then for our 25th Anniversary, we left the kids behind to take a special trip just for us. So where did we want to go for our special trip... another Disney cruise of course. Just got back from an MR cruise.

It would be an honor to join your fraternity and share my passion (my wife says addiction) for all things Disney

Welcome!!

Glad work went OK. I enjoy Cocoa. It has a large beach area with good sand. Usually when I go up there, I get one of those tourist booklets they have at rest stops. Found some good deals on rooms.

Thanks. Unless I find something else, and knowing me, I'll change my mind 1000 times befor it's time. Planning stuff like this is one of my relaxation things.

Good morning guys.

Exam week here, so a lot of review in the classes...makes it relaxing for me, plus only having to give two exams means not much grading to do either!

Morning dads!

Weekend was busy - first communion for the son, and family in town.

Sat went well - DS had his soccer game, and DD, DW and her parents all got to see it. I missed it - if you request a specific coach, you have to pay for the privilege by working a 2 hour shift of concessions, so I spent the time selling soda, water, pretzels, etc. I could see the game (sort of) - not well enough to tell players, but I had a general idea of where the ball was, just because of where the kids were clustered. Our team won, 6-4, and apparently DS played well.

Sun was busy, as I said. First communion went off well, and we got lots of good pics. After that, I ran by the hardware store and picked up a new mower - the old one just wasn't worth trying to get working properly. (I priced out the parts that I knew that I needed, and then the ones that I thought that I would probably have to get, and it wasn't worth it.) So, after supper, I unboxed it, set it up, and gave it a trial run, and mowed about half of the back yard. So far, I like it, but ask me at the end of the season.

DD is still getting up in the middle of the night, and she is going to sleep later and later. It's making everyone cranky - especially daddy, who is most likely to either get up with her, or to wind up being kicked out of bed.

congratulations on the communion and the soccer!

All I can say about the middle of the night ordeal is hang in there, it does get better...but you know that, it's just hard to get through.

I'm right there with ya with your DD waking up in the middle of the night. Our oldest has been doing this, on an inconsistent basis. She's been waking up and hysterically itching herself and unable to calm down. Last night it took her taking a shower to calm her down.

I've had two nights in a row on the couch...sleepy daddy here too!

Good Monday Morning!!

time to get caught up a bit...

Made it back from soccer. We were short 3 players in our league and ended up playing down one player. We ended up tying that game. Then, another team was short 3 players in anoth division so I took some of my players over to th mixed division and coached them to a 0-1 game. It was a close game. I was proud of my daughter as this was the first time she has played against the boys and she did very well. She had a few hard shots on goal , but just couldn't get them to go. I refereed two games after that while both girls played on the inflatables at fun day. Tomorrow will be our last game of the season. It has been another great one. A beautiful and hot day.

Way to go DD!

Hey guys. :wave2:

:wave2:

Finally got tickets for DL. They are having massive problems because of the tomorrow's price increase. Was on hold for about 30 minutes on and off before I could buy them. Saved me some change though.

good job! :thumbsup2

Congrats. I convinced DW we needed a summer trip to WDW. Since we are out of DVC points, we looked online thru WDW and almost booked one. But, it was about $2K for the week and I need to find an extra $2K in our budget.

got any gold to sell??

For the 2nd time this week I must improve my odds of the Nov trip, mon it was 50/50, weds after booking it became 95/5, now after going to a campfire at my friends house and hearing my wife talking to his wife on how she has to make sure she will have off those days:thumbsup2 I'm now placing the odds at 99/1:cool1: I't's good to be King:worship:

yeah, but do you look like the P*ss Boy?

:thumbsup2 Spent my day in Scoutmaster training yesterday while my DW shuttled the kids to sports. Felt pretty guilty, but at least now I'm fully trained, and it will give me some additional options with this disaster of a troop I'm a part of. Unfortunately, DD#2 doesn't like the other neighboring troop (his friends are in the bad troop which I think is part of it), while DS#1 does. Sure would be easier to pull them out of scouts all together, but I really do believe that the program would be good for both of them. So we're back to considering starting another troop in town. More to follow I'm sure...

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Thought I'd share some very good news today. Some of you know that I had crazy amounts of student loans from college and med school (well over 200K) when I graduated (my parents were not very good about saving for education, a mistake that my DW and I are NOT repeating!). Anyway, for the last 6 years, I've been fortunate enough to get a loan repayment award from the NIH (National Institutes of Health) and today I got notice that I was approved for my last renewal (since I will be all paid off!). You have to renew every 2 years, and the application process is fairly extensive. For those of you who have large student loans, or have family with them, I highly encourage you to look into repayment programs. Mine is from the NIH for research, but there are public health awards for working in underserved areas, and the military has some great ones too.

Very nice!!

The kid got home yesterday afternoon after her date's dad took them to lunch. She spent the night in a hotel room with 4 other girls. The dates were in another room and one of the kid's parents chaperoning in another room. She wanted to go out to see some friends but crashed instead. Asleep now for about 13 hours.

And the prom pose

You may notice the kid that dared ask my little girl to the prom has his arms around her. Reports are that he will be out of traction in a few weeks.

According to her, a good time was had by all.

she looks beautiful. I like how it looks like she's keeping his hand from going any further!!

happy birthday!

Well....I may have updated my TR that happens to have a link in my signature....just sayin

that reminds me that I need to do something... just can't remember what it is.

Hey guys. We've been planning a trip for what seems like forever. Right now, it looks like we'll be staying at the Swan at the end of August.

Anyone ever stay there? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!

Never stayed there. Just walked by it from the boardwalk on our way to Fantasia Mini Golf.

Congrats, and have a great time!!

Scott,

Have you guys switched soap or fabric softener or anything like that recently? We had the same thing going on with our oldest, and it was due to a change in laundry soap.

Hey guys,

Beautiful day today in South Florida. No Rain! Today is mundane tasks around the house.

Spent a couple of days at the Swan. No Disney theming but a deluxe experience. Good sized rooms and comfy beds. Some interesting restaurants/food places and you are right next to the Boardwalk. You should enjoy it.

Morning guys! It's been a while since I've stopped by. Work continues to be pretty hectic as we a down a body and they haven't name their replacement yet. It's only been 4 weeks, they wouldn't want to rush in to anything. :rolleyes2

Anyway, only 47 days until we hit the World. Getting pretty antsy. I need to rethink this plan of saving all my vacation days for the 2nd half of each year.

Morning guys.

Looks like Chicago has done well with its preparation for the influx of protesters. Hopefully today will pass without much incident.

CJ: Glad to hear that the Pirate Princess had a good time this weekend and that the young man will only be on the 15 day DL and not chum for your next diving excursion.

I was downtown on Saturday evening for a bachelor party and the traffic was as light as I've ever seen it. Traffic barely even slowed as got to the loop. Local news did a good job of scaring everyone into staying home. By the way, someone needs to tell these protestors to get back to work so they can pay their share of taxes. I'd be willing to bet that most of those people don't even know what they are protesting.

Unfortunately No Matt. We've always used the same stuff..All Free and Clear and Downy Free and Clear softener.

I think it has something to do with the warmer temperature in the house (even with the air conditioning on) that is leading her to itch her eczema a little more. And unfortunately, her room is the warmest room in the summer and the coldest room in the winter.

We're thinking about taking her bunk beds apart so her ceiling fan cools her off a little better.

I like the Schulas suggestion and one you may not get is the ESPN Club. They have all the TVs and best yet, DRAFT BEER. Also, you can walk home drunk without worry and enjoy the night time entertainment on the Boardwalk. The food is very reasonably priced as well (given Disney prices).

I like that one!!

Just checking in. Too much to catch up with. Having a Beverly of a work day today...hope you guys are doing better.

You shold post the picture in the princess thread. The gown looks very Disneyesque.

It's terrible that somebody would do that you her date though. Do they have any idea who it was? :rotfl::rotfl:

Welcome Aboard, Brad!

Another Sunday ownage.

Had a great day. This was the last day of soccer and we finished with a win, 3-0. My dd scored another 2 goals today and just had one of those career seasons. A very proud DisDad here. I have to work tomorrow and then off the rest of the week and Memorial Day weekend. The Avengers (again) and a zoo trip are planned, but dance recital practices/ rehearsals beginning, so I won't get to do as much as I previously planned as we have to be here local for them. You all have a great week.

Great Job by DD! Enjoy your short work week!

DW pick up a new t-shirt for ds yesterday:

sleepy as well, but i kept myself up coughing all night. That is a weird thing with the itching. DD complained of itching a couple of times months ago, but never again since then... wish I could tell you what it might be. Hopefully nothing serious and it passes.

2nd reference to protesters out there and I have to admit I have no idea what's going on. I live in a bubble. :confused3
