Will do! I'm considering a jaunt this summer or early fall.

Can you get me in to their Club 33? I have a friend who went to TDL back in the early 90's and got to go in, and just raved after she got back to CA. Another friend went in the early 00's, but wasn't able to get in. He still raved about the trip. It's been on my bucket list for years. I'm really hoping that it can happen this year. But I have to see how a few other things come together first before planning in earnest.

Gosh, I don't know about Club 33...but I'll try to see if I have some connections...

Maybe you need to clear your cache?

My wife takes care of that...

Oh, wait.... you mean... nevermind.

Hahaha... actually that's a good idea, and as you said that, I tried to open IE (I hardly ever use IE) and I don't see it there either.

:confused3

Carl, first off, you aren't DVC? Spending that kind of money per year (?) on Disney trips it seems like DVC would be right up your alley. I remember a few threads back Stopher & a few other people had a long discussion about DVC. I would think you would make out in a BIG way if you went that route.

I thought you were as well Carl.

If you are, then at the annual meeting in December it was announced as a new perk that the TIW is available to all DVC members now, in addition to AP holders. So if you are - dump the dining plan and go that route.

If you aren't...

I think you made a smart move moving to BLT and dropping down to the regular DDP. BUT what if you bought yourself an AP then bought the TIW card? I bet you would save even more $. Plus you aren't locked in to food that a)won't equal the DDP cost b) dessert that you don't want to eat c) the flexibility to order what you want off the menu

It is possible. Depends on the total cost comparison, but it probably would work out as a better deal.

Folks, I was just looking at page 1 - and notice very few DISDad's vacations booked for 2012.

Reminder to let Emma's Dad know when you are travelling and get the list growing.

When you let Emma's Dad, Don, know you should PM him, he may miss it here. :) You can also let him know anything else you want to add to page 1, like your name or birthday. You know you want a birthday post from me, don't you? :rotfl2:

That would be so sweet!

I won't hold my breath, but man, that would be so sweet!

Of course, don't hold your breath about my heading to the far east too soon - but it IS on the radar at least. As I said, hopefully by the fall this year.

A little blurry, but from one of my favorite restaurants at WDW

Make sure you make these ADRs for 4... I'm joining ya!!! :lmao:

! :thumbsup2 and your right who wants to eat a dessert with every meal! (they don't have dole whip in every restaraunt!):rotfl2::

If I'm not at DHS, I go for the Mickey Ice Cream sandwich. Those are excellent. If DTD, it is Ghiradhelli all the way.

!
I agree! :thumbsup2 Just wish I could get a 40% pin and free dining! :rotfl2:

DW thinks we can do that. We have our Oct trip booked and she thinks she call and get free dining. I don't think we can. I guess we'll see.

I just wanted to thank you all again for the warm welcome I got last night and, apparently, all through the night! I had no idea a thread could move so quickly!
!

There is a spread sheet on the first page of how long these threads have been open. Interesting reading - if you're an excel nerd like me.

I agree, Carl. For our upcoming trip, we're NOT getting the dining plan for the first time. .

I remember the DP also including gratuity. It no longer does. That is something else to figure in. I like the freedom of QS and not having to be at any specific restaurant at any time. But, I like the rest time needed for TS.

Good to hear from you Dave and good list. I noticed you do a 1 BR at OKW for just you and Tammy. OKW is a lot lower in points, but those studios are really big by themselves.

If I were to bet, my money would be on you, not your wife!

Those were the days when the DDP actually made sense, and was good. It has slipped so much over the years, with the price just continuing to spike. Not good. We LOVED it then... not anymore. We're definitely TIW people now.

I don't care for the revised QSDP for 2012. Taking away the 2nd snack just stinks. It's not really a value anymore. I could make the QS plan work really well - not so much now.

If your kids are going to eat CS meals you'll be throwing away their TS credits.

Looking back I probably should have bought into DVC! In the last five years we have spent way more than the cost of membership and dues.
Now, my oldest daughter will be graduating this year and my other two will be graduating soon.. Empty nest will follow. My wife and I will continue going to Disney but it will just be us.

I looked into the AP and that could be a good move. The only thing holding me back is that it is valid for 1 year to the day so if we go on June 1st then my return must be before that to take advantage of the pass. If I were able to do that it would save me well over $1000! That doesn't even count the savings of table in wonderland card. My kids school schedule prevents me from doing that.

I am just frustrated that the dining plan went up that much and I know that families with teens will not sit down to three TS meals everyday. It really wasn't a bad deal when it included tips but now... NOPE!

Just caught up on about 60 pages or so. At the rate this booger is moving, this will be my lowest post count on a DDC thread yet... :sad2:

Happy Weekend Guys!

Good to hear from you Dave and good list. I noticed you do a 1 BR at OKW for just you and Tammy. OKW is a lot lower in points, but those studios are really big by themselves.

True they are - but no couch. They're fine for a couple of nights, but when you['re used to going and hanging out, enjoying the resort as much as the theme parks - especially for those afternoon naps that Dave really loves - I'm sure the space is important to them.

I went last year (now there's a surprise), and at nearly the last minute had a change in the traveling party. The friend that I had invited along had to cancel out. I had reserved a 1 bedroom - I'd have the bed, and he'd have the couch in the living room, and the trip ended up being just me. Call it crazy, but I enjoyed that 1 BR by myself even. Sure it was more points than I "should" have used for just me, but it was literally within 7 days of the trip and no way to change it then without completely losing big time on the deal. DW and I went down there for our anniversary 2 years ago, and we did a
studio. She complained, missing the extra space. I can see us using 1 BR's after the kids are gone and it's just us traveling.
