Wow Steve... that really sucks. To not feel safe in your own home, has to to make you wonder.

I'm a good shot, but am sure Fed is a much better marksman than I. And, I have a shotgun so I really don't need to be that great an aim. Still, I have no idea how I would react to a stressful situation where I would need to point my shotgun at an intruder. Law enforcement and military train for those situations and it is still difficult. I hope I never have to face that situation, and if I do, I hope I can do what I need to do to save my family.

What do you guys do with baby stuff after they are no longer babies?

Specifically, we have a high chair, car seat, and stroller. We tried selling these at the local consignment shop, but they won't buy / sell items like this due to the possibility that there may have been recalls and they don't want to get sued by a buyer. I tried giving them away at Goodwill, but got the same story there.

I may try to re-purpose the stroller into a carry all. Even though it was used pretty well and made four trips with us down to WDW, it is still in great shape.

The High Chair and Car Seat on the other hand, I can't seem to figure out what to do with. I can't bring myself to throwing them in a dumpster especially since the car seat looks like brand new and was only used for about nine months before DW decided that we needed a newer one with more features. There is one distant family member that may have need for this stuff but if he doesn't want it...

I just find it hard to understand how we got to the point where even Goodwill is scared to take baby items for fear of legal repercussions and someone with little means must pay the price for all new stuff at the department stores.

Will Jerry fire himself? He drafts Quincey Carter and Felix Jones. He promotes Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett? Phillips is a good defensive coordinator who should not be promoted. Garrett should be a quarterbacks coach. Rob Ryan? Well, Cleveland did go the Superbowl, oops. But, his dad won a superbowl with the Bears 24 years ago.

I have the inside system armed all the time...the bad thing is Ethan was still up and heard the whole ordeal and is scared...I have tried to tell him that we are safe and Jesus and his angels are protecting us...looks like I might be sleeping with little man tonight

I hate to hear that he is scared. It stinks when our children have to experience this stuff (in any way).

We ran into that situation with some of our items...Do you have a city mission near you or a Salvation Army? We were able to donate things to the city mission with no questions or paperwork for them. To someone who has nothing nor means to buy things...anything is a God send to them. You can also get a receipt from them for tax deductions. I would contact a local mission or maybe a church that might know of someone in need. I am like you and cant stand to throw out something perfectly good that someone could use.

We ended up just holding on to it, and giving it away to friends of my parents who were about to become grandparents.

They were very excited, and eager to take the old baby seats, and crib for the "once in a while" that there new granddaughter would stay with them.

We were able to sell our baby stuff at a yard sale for a good price, and without hauling it to consignment. If you're looking at donation, if you have a St. Vincent de Paul or Salvation Army, they may be more willing to accept a donation. Plus, the ones we have here will come to your house and pick up large donations or furniture purchases.

I think Ryan's defence would be better if they had some backs that could cover. Newman used to be good but he gives too much room now. Garrett. I use to be a fan but I'm not to sure now. Well it has been an eventful first day of the year....started it off with church this morning then came home for dinner and had some cabbage so that we might have good luck and money in the new year...then went to the Marshall basketball game..too bad the team did not show up!! Then came home and watched "State of Play" very good movie....then I hear a noise outside and opened the back door and scared off someone breaking into my outbuilding!!! I feel like Barney Fife outside with my PJs on carrying a flashlight...from what I cna tell they did not get anything my mowers and weedeaters are still there...I think I scared them off before they coudl get their hands on anything...I hope they dont come back tongiht...Grrrrr the neighborhood has been having trouble with kids busting mailboses and light poles and they seem to be getting braver now and moving closer to the houses....I might have to bite the bullet and buy a video secruity system for outside!!!

Yeah, unfortunately, the safety standards keep getting updated so they are no good to major organizations. Our church and a couple of local preschools take them, but unfortunately, it is very hard to find these a good home. And forget about cribs. Unless someone in your family wants it, no one will take them. Our local big brothers big sisters program will come to your house and get that sort of thing too.

Most of the car seats now will transition to just booster seats. We still have 3 or 4 of them in our garage in case we have someone staying with us who needs them. Might be worth keeping around just in case.

Dad worked night shift when I was a kid, and I remember when I was about 11 waking up in the middle of the night with my mother screaming out the window at someone trying to steal parts off of the cars that she was going to get her gun. She would never have been able to pull the trigger, but I'm sure that it was enough to scare them into needing a change of pants. Scared me too, but I was over it after about an hour or so.

A friend of mine had a similar situation and fired a .45 over the guy's head. The sheriff's dept. let the would be burglar sleep at their place for a while...

Murray was a good relief at RB, but that was their only real weakness. If he can have a full season, then their offense is set. They let Canty get away of defense which has hurt them. Brooking is a good LB but getting old as well. They could have a draft focusing on defense, but I'm not sold on Ryan.

Two sad news stories to start the new year here, in our thriving metropolis.

A man barricaded himself in his mother's home for an 8 hour stand off with the police.

Despite Oregon's law on pseudephedrine and it's effectiveness, our local Sheriff has routinely bashed Oregon, stating the law won't work in KY, and that we need to support our electronic enforcement tracking system. New statistics released show the number of meth cases fell in Oregon with their response and the number of meth cases tripled in KY with our response. Now, he may have been receiving campaign funds from the electronic tracking system manufacturer, and the Sheriff is on the state advisory board for how to deal with this issue. I need to find away to get some of this free money going around. Apparently, everybody is doing it.

Well I have motion flood lights outback but the ones on that side of the house are obvioulsy burned out I see a trip to lowes or home depot in my future LOL I did not call the cops there has been a lot of stuff going on here and they have not acted on any of it...we have a cop that lives on our street and he is about worthless for law enforcement LOL I need Fed to come stay for a few days with us LOL...We live in a very nice neighborhood...but for some reason...our street has been hit hard with vandalism the last few months. I have not replaced my light at the end of the driveway yet until I know it wont get knocked off again...I bought one it is just in the garage until the dust settles...I did go outthere myself LOL..in my PJs carrying a flashlight from Shari's purse..I am sure I was scary had we met face to face The kids ran the batteries in my Mag Lite down LOL

Thank you one and all for the birthday wishes. I decided to have Carolyn take me out to dinner and left the girls here. We went to a "Benihana style" restaurant. The girls were supposed to have a gluten free frozen pizza, but they called when we got to the restaurant and said they couldn't find it in the freezer. They decided that they weren't hungry anyway.

Need another favor from the group. How would you explain in non-technical terms the pros and cons of laptop versus tablet? I am a nerd/techie/geek and have been since high school. I used to program my math homework on punch cards and run them at the local community college while I was in High School.
DW's Macbook is getting slower and slower. I tried to add ram (to upgrade to Mac OS X) but the chips I installed were not recognized (don't trust Amazon even if their chips are half what Apple charges). She was thinking of maybe getting an iPad and when I tried to explain the differences she got what DD12 calls a "Donut Look" with her eyes glazing right over. I know after 27 years of marriage I should be able to speak her language, but when computers come into the picture I speak nerd.

So can any of you help?
