Take charge Chris, I anoint you DDC (Dis Dad Convention) Manager. Not that I have any power to do that. One suggestion I have is a Kitchen Sink meet. Maybe right after we do a drink around the world challenge. Could lead to interesting pictures. Lets pick a date.

Does this mean Doc pays for it? Still can't make it, but wanted to say something at someone else's expense.

I have something valuable to say in all of my posts. Usually it is at the expense of another DIS Dad, but valuable none the less.:thumbsup2

Bravo.

I was just checking that!
So over on the Convention thread, by my count and from personal communications, we're up to potentially 9 for a Guys-Only weekend (see my rationale for this below)

I'm going to propose getting as many "definites" as we can and arranging a weekend. We can try to coordinate it around other guys trips and if someone wants to bring a family, great, but we'd have some guys-only activities planned. Also, just because you're not a "definite" now, doesn't mean you couldn't come! If you're not on this list and you'd like to be involved in the early planning, please let me know (FB, email, text, PM, telegraph, etc).

Chris, you know my position is that I'd like to bring my family. Can a compromise be reached, if not for this trip, then one un the future? If you schedule a weekend in the summer, then you can still have a guys-only weekend. But, dads who wanted to bring their family could schedule time adjacent to that weekend, still participate in guys only weekend, but then spend time with their family the other 5 days.

If this one is set, then no need to change it. Just something to consider in the future.

Norm, I'm not trying to say that families shouldn't come, just that with all the organization/planning that is involved in bringing families, it'd probably be too optimistic to expect large numbers of families to attend. Certainly I'd have a really hard time changing my Disney planning (which goes out years in advance) to fit this in. Others may have this problem as well.

I think that getting this started will be the hardest part. In future years, it'll be easier.

So now by my count, pretty definites would be up to 12:

You forgot carrier pigeon.... ;)

Our tv is a little over a year old. In the last couple of days the sound is not working when we turn it on. The problem is not consistent. Could this be an HDMI cable issue, or is it in the tv? :confused3

I'd text you but I am not privileged enough to have your number :lmao:

I would love to help. I will be bringing my family, but DW knows there would be some dad activities since this would be the basis for our trip.

Dave - sounds like since you referenced an HDMI cable that you are using some kind of set-top box (i.e. cable box or satellite receiver).

If this is the case, try cycling power to this box and see if the problem continues.

I've found in the past that it's almost always an issue with the cable box transmitting the signal to your tv.

Scott, I am not very technical so what do you mean by cycling power to the box? :confused3

We had the same issue a while back and it turned out to be the cable box. I called the cable company and had them do a remote reset from wherever they are and it worked...then it did it again...rest it agian and then they just came and replaced the box...problem solved forever! Or at least until the box wears out again LOL:thumbsup2
