That's rough. We managed to hold the line against kids in our bed citing "mom & dad need their time together". It's a hard line to hold but I think worth it in the long run. Takes a lot of commitment & a very united front from both mom & dad. Good luck!

Unexpected bonus to DD being sick today- she gets to miss her girl scout activity & frees up more family time! B-ball games this am, eating lunch at the new Chipotle in town, then buy & decorate tree. After that, family movie night (Elf, I think) & dinner/s'mores around the fire. DW birthday tomorrow & this is what she wants this weekend. Have a great day, gents!

Sounds like a great weekend Chris. Hope DD feels better soon! :thumbsup2

The problem is that DW is a deep sleeper - as in, could sleep through the crack of doom. Since I started doing the SAHD gig, I wake even more than I used to - family trait. (My mom would apparently wake up in the middle of the night whenever one of us kids sneezed in our sleep. I'm almost the same way.) So, she doesn't wake up until the second kid comes in, if then - and when the kids do this for too many nights in a row, I'm just too plain beat to wake up enough to go through the whole routine. We have a lock on the door, so maybe we just need to lock it every night, all night for a while, and try to break the habit.

Hope your DD feels better - extra family stuff is not a bad consolation for missing GS activities. Enjoy the day!

This is my last weekend off befor the holidays....Getting ready to head to the school for Ethan's basketball game...I am hoping he can make some more points!!:cheer2: This afternoon the church is having a thing where they watch the kids from 3-8 giving the parents time to shop or just have date night. We are going to use that time to wrap gifts and purge some unwanted toys and get ready for new ones to arrive. All in all I think it is going to be a busy day but enjoyable day!!! One the pain front ...today seems much beter so far@!!!!!!:cool1: Hope a great day everyone

Good luck to Ethan!!!! :cool1:

I just came in from a 19 mile run, on the heels of a 9 mile run yesterday morning. A bit tired, but feeling pretty confident that I'll be able to finish the Goofy Challenge standing up in 4 weeks... Maybe some shopping today, then a family holiday party tonight, should be fun.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I can't wait to get my mileage up. My week at Disney set me back a little. I was experiencing some hip pain this week so I am taking a couple of days off :headache:

Opposite - I am the sound sleeper. DW, the state worker, is on call 24 hours a day for a week once a month. She gets phone calls in middle of night and I never heard phone ring or her get out of bed.

...
I think we should just turn the clocks back one hour each night, sunday-thursday, giving us an extra hour of sleep for each of those 5 days... and then on Friday at noon, we "spring ahead" 5 hours to catch back up.

The BEST idea I have heard in a long time!

Working today so I can hopefully get out of town a couple of days earlier than planned. The advantage and disadvantage to what I do. My schedule is mostly my own but if I don't get it done, nobody else will do it either.

With that kind of training run, you will be fine. Are you starting a vacation with the Goofy, or ending one? And are you doing the 5k on Friday as well?

I agree. It would be cool to have some kind of interaction or themed events as well.

Happy Saturday guys :cool1:

A high of 23 today for Indy! Man, I miss WDW.
We're taking family pictures this afternoon... Outdoors.:thumbsup2
(definitely not a thumb)

Always better to be on the side of caution and let any nagging injuries heal... You can overcome fatigue, but injuries are tough. :thumbsup2

We're only going for 5 days, so the Goofy falls in the middle of it pretty much. It started out as a 3 day trip with only me and my cousin going down to run, but somehow our wives turned it into a 5 day family get a way... I'm not doing the 5k on friday, no. you?

UL plays basketball today at 3 and UK today plays basketball today at 4 and I have to go to BIL's house for niece's birthday party at 3. Yes, it the same BIL that I've complained about before. Like Barry's wife, DW would get the frying pan, rolling pin, and whatever else she could whoop my backside with if I try to skip. Plus, she is my niece and I wouldn't want to miss for her. Hmmmmmm, what to do?

Afternoon guys,

Having a wonderful time, wish you were here. Met up with Aaron at the Reunion CoP meet. Len Testa created a script for the audience to yell comebacks during the scenes. Funny. From there we had lunch at Sleepy Hollow. Not a big waffle fan but the chicken was good.

Tonight is the Dis event at WWoHP. That should be fun. Hope you guys are having a great weekend, I know I am.

Go Ethan! Get out the wallet Steve.

Todays game was VERY agrressive and low scoring. We lost 4-1 and Ethan scored our 1 point from the foul line :thumbsup2 Today only cost me a buck :rotfl2:..I was impressed with Ethan guarding he just throws those arms up and towers over the kids and intimidates the crap out of them I love it LOL

A 3 pointer at the buzzer would have been amazing!

Some of you will remember my tale of the mis-named ear hats. The first one came to Lara, the second one came to GRANDPA in all caps which didn't match the one we had ordered for Grandma. The third had, supposedly correctly embroidered, had been shipped but then "lost." :headache: No one had a record of it ANYWHERE other than Disney claimed they had shipped it. After 10 business days of nothing they finally agreed to cancel the third order and ship a fourth order - except by now they were all out of the stock at Disney Store online so they agreed to refund my money. At this point we had figured we would just get my dad his hat when we got into the park on Thursday (despite the very nice offers from guys on here to help me out).

Actually, I'm glad we didn't arrange to get one made by someone on here because the mystery third hat actually showed up today. :cool1: Nearly THREE WEEKS after it was supposedly shipped, it mysteriously showed up! I suppose I should let Disney know and pay them for it but I figure that after all the phone calls and hassles I'm taking their overpriced hat! :woohoo:

It's pretty good when you son scores all the points for the whole team! :thumbsup2

Go Ethan!

Checking in from work...

Just walked by Seth Meyers upstairs by the vending machines, so I guess that means SNL is live tonight...

Before I left for work, DW was getting DD ready for dance class and we heard the fire department "Santa Parade" in the neighborhood. (a firetruck with Santa and a few random characters rides around the neighborhood handing out candy canes) It wasn't on our block and since DD didn't want to miss it, we had to get in the car and find it. We came upon it a few blocks away and we parked, got out of the car, and walked to the corner right as the parade was getting there... and then it turned away from us and into a cemetery???... A fireman saw us and told us they'd be right back. We watched Santa, Winne the Pooh, and the firemen enter the small cemetery and congregate in one area...

DD gave me a look of confusion, so I channeled a favorite "Friends" episode and whispered over DD's head to her... "Easter Bunny's Funeral?"

I guess they were laying a wreath. It didn't take too long and they came out, and DD got her candy cane (along with one for DS) and DD saw Santa, and then it was a rush back to the house to drop me off so they could go to Dance.

I then drove into work, making a stop at the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center to deliver christmas gifts. For several years, DW has organized a charity drive at her school working with an organization called "NY Cares". They collect letters from kids and then match them up with donors. DW gets parents and teachers to buy the presents and then they wrap them all and then I deliver them.

So, now I am here at work, watching "The Pixar Story" on netflix.

Unfortunately, no - I did the Dopey (Goofy plus 5k) a few years ago, but DW hasn't been wanting to repeat the trip - something about me getting up at 3 am for 3 days in a row spoiled the trip for her. :confused3
