DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Well Thurs. are the days that I weigh on. I am down, 4.5 lbs since last week.

I need to add in my water and exercise. All I really did this week was cut back on the sodas.

Well with TOM ending and being back home this week with full power, the excess seems to have sloughed off quickly. I am down 5 lbs this week for a total loss of 12 for the year! :woohoo:

Hooray, Tia!!!! 12 pounds since January 1 is amazing!!!!! You should be so proud!!!

I bought a dry erase calendar from the Target dollar spot and have been writing our dinners on there. I haven't started planning lunch or breakfast yet, but usually have a decent supply of cold and hot cereal on hand, plus sandwich stuff. I need to start planning more lunch options for me as that is when I find myself staring into the fridge for awhile trying to decide what to eat.

Lunch is the hardest for me. I try to keep some grilled chicken strips on hand so I can make a quick Caesar salad, or something. I've also found some low carb bagels at Walmart that I use to make an open faced roast beef sandwich with deli meat, cream cheese and a slice of tomato. Very yummy!

And that will be the trick for me as well! I really enjoy the cooking portion so that is good. The planning needs some improvement and I am guessing that I'll get used to the higher grocery bill. It's still just a shock to see. Plus, I have to remember that I'm feeding twice as many people (and sometimes many more) on that bill too since I pay for most of the groceries for the house so it feeds by 3, Mom's 3 plus sometimes all of Kristi's 5 and Erin's 2. I just need to work in more variety in my meal plans as I get bored easily. I am hoping that in the end I will be enjoying my home meals enough that I don't resort back to the eating out habits. I was happy to find myself not enjoying some meals we ate out while the power was out as much as I had in the past. I think that I am starting to notice some of the differences, like with sodium content, as I cook more at home and that should help me keep at it as well.

If you need some inspiration on dinners, check out the Official What's For Dinner Thread! It's fabulous, and there are some great healthy meals there!

Yay, Jennifer!!!! That's a great loss! Congratulations!

Great job on the 4.5 weight loss!

Glynis do you buy the chicken breast that are cooked or do you grillthem your self?

Wow, all this loss is making me envious. I know, I just need to keep on swimming up the current. A small loss is still a loss. Someday I will make my goal.

Deb

Well the verdict is in on my knee! It's good, but not perfect

The meniscus looks great. No real fractures in the tibia. Unfortunately, the MRI looked much better than he thought :rotfl: :confused3

There is a small stress fracture and several bone contusions on my patella and tibia, but that's "it". Those things can cause some pain, but they aren't exactly in the right spot for such a localized pain. Most of what looked "junky" was in an entirely different spot. Blech!

So I am getting PT 3x/week for 4 weeks. $450 later, we'll "see what happens". Fun, huh?

Oh well! At least I'm getting it taken care of, slowly but surely!

Deb, try not to get discouraged, as it does become harder to lose as you get closer to your goal, at least in my experience. Think how much healthier you are and better you feel know than you did a year ago and be proud of yourself!!

Depends on how much time I have. I keep chicken in my freezer, so I could do anything with that, but the pre-grilled are very easy, especially for lunches.

Frustrating!!! The important thing is that you are taking care of it. I wish that it could be resolved more quickly for you! At least you have some answers, right?

Good luck with the PT. I hope that it does the trick and fixes you up quickly.

Great job on the loss JenniferakaBear....4.5lbs is great. :thumbsup2:

Hope all goes well with your PT JennakaTink. At least now you know what you are dealing with.

Hope everyone has a great weekend....I know I am ready for it to be here.

Congratulations Jennifer :cheer2:

Oh this sounds good! I have been eating roast beef for lunch as well(not everyday). Now I will have to look for some bagels.

Deb look at how much you have lost already! You should feel very proud of yourself. I am envious of you, & Glynis, & Becky, and, and, the list could go on. Don't be so hard on yourself

Ok to much Dr. lingo :rotfl:

Glad to hear your knee is better than thought :wizard:

So how is everyone doing?

I am doing well with the eating, but not the exercise. I know I would lose more, but I have decided not to stress myself over this now. Hopefully when it gets warmer I can get into a routine of taking walks.

Hope everyone had a great week!

My diet is also going well, but exercise not so much. It is so cold outside that any outdoor activity is impossible and I'm not motivated to do much indoors.

I have done really well this week as far as eating and staying on plan, and walked on the treadmill 4 days this week as well. Unfortunately, the scale doesn't agree with me, because I am actually up 1 pound this week. Of course I showed a 5 lb loss the first week, so I am still down 4 since I started, but it is frustrating when you try so hard and then see a gain for the week. Oh well, on to a new week and hope for the best.
