DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

You guys sound like your doing great! I am exercising every day but the eating isnt going well Im not tracking what Ive eaten and I know thats a problem. Tommarow is monday time for a fresh start Ill track my food and you guys add some exercise! And well all be winners!

Sounds like we're all in the same boat, exercise wise. It's so hard to get motivated to do anything inside. I've started doing some 10 minute yoga exercises that I found at Costco. It's a lot different than walking, and the variety is making it easier to keep up with it.

For those of you who are having problems with eating, here are a couple of tricks I've learned over the course of the last year:

Don't eat off a dinner plate, instead use a salad plate which is much smaller. It will really help with portion control.

Take a full 25 minutes to eat any meal. Slowing down like this gives your body a chance to feel full and get the message to your brain.

Hope this helps someone!

This is very good advice. We have 2 sizes of dinner plates. Gary & I always used the big ones & the boys used the small ones. Now I use the small ones as well, really does help with portion control.

Weighed in this morning & I am down another 2 lbs. So I have a total loss of 7 lbs so far. Three more to go & I reach my 1st goal :cool1:

I have to say that even though the scale IS going down, I was really hoping for more of a loss this week. I keep telling myself that I am doing good, but I feel I should be doing more. I was pleased when I tried my jeans that were a little snug & I was able to wear them comfortably, that is telling me something right there!

So why do I feel so down on myself :confused3

It's in our nature to want things to happen quickly. I think it's because of our society. We can get whatever we want when we want it. However, with our weight, that doesn't necessarily follow. Just remember this: You did not put on all the weight overnight, and it is not going to come off overnight. You have a great start, and are learning new healthy habits. Not only is this doing you good (7 pounds down!!!!!), but it is teaching your sons good things as well. It's also showing them that you love yourself enough to do healthy things for your body. Slow and steady wins the race. Just remember to pat yourself on the back!!! 7 pounds is so wonderful!!! When you start to feel down, remember how good it felt to put on those jeans and they fit more comfortably! That's a great thing.

I'm so very proud of you, Janet! You are amazing!!!!

I m down 12lbs since I last posted (which was the 16th of Jan) but, I ve been sticking to my excercise plan (we do cardio/conditioning m-w-f mornings and take a taekwondo class m-w nights) , cutting down on soda(I only allow myself one a day, but alot of days I don't have any) and trying to control my portions. I have been tracking my points on WW. I feel better than I have in a long time. I m keeping it up and maybe increasing my amount of walking so that my energy level is good for our trip in April.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Thank you Glynis, you are very encouraging & I need that :goodvibes

I lost 1 lb this week. I guess that's not too bad, at least I keep losing.

I forgot to mention that the 1 lb I lost this week puts me at 60 lbs lost overall since I started this weight loss journey 3 years ago. :cool1: There have been ups and downs along the way, but look how far I've come :thumbsup2

Just remember that the closer you get to your goal, the tougher it will be to lose the weight. You have done so amazing! And based on your pictures, you look DANG GOOD right now! I know Chris agrees with me on this!

Good job!!!!!

Great job on the losses Janet, Amy & Deb......those scales are going down, down, down. Woo hoo :woohoo:

She is still around. She hasn't mentioned weight loss recently. Maybe you should PM her.

That is great, Amy! Keep up the good work. I really need to work on the exercise portion, but it's just so dang cold.

Well, I am the same for this week. Not bad considering that a sneak onto the scale yesterday showed me up a few. The weekend was a little rough with a few parties and abnormal schedule. However, yesterday went VERY well and I am feeling the benefits of it already.

Keep up the great work everyone!
