Great job, Melanie!

Netti, just keep chugging along and it will come together in the end. Anytime you can add a little extra exercise in should help as well.

One other question....would you include a multi-vitamin in your food tracker? I am trying to decide whether to enter the values into my food tracker so that the nutriets are tracked along with my food nutrients or whether to just track whether I took my vitamin. Part of me wants to see the values ingested each day while another part says to just track what I am getting from my food and know that the vitamin is supplementing that. Any thoughts?

Didn't think about that. I take a mulit-vitamin as well. I will probably just keep tracking my food.

Tia thnks for the support

What type of plan are you doing?

I'm not doing a specific plan. I've been using sparkpeople.com to track my food and am just watching my choices and portions. Another big thing is avoiding fast food (particularly my addiction to McGriddles, which I haven't had since mid-Dec sometime) and limiting sweets (which brings me to my other addiction - chocolate). My first steps have been to eat breakfast everyday and know what I am fixing for dinner. Those alone seem to have helped me a lot. Now I'm not hitting a drive thru when we're out in the mornings and there are no last minute drives to Sonic or Pizza Hut.

I'm sure I missed it somewhere, but what plan are you doing?

Yes this is it! Let us know how they turn out for you. I bought a cherry cake & a chocolate mix & I am going to use diet vanilla Dr Pepper!

The cupcakes turned out quite good! I had planned on using a white cake mix and a can of diet black cherry soda. Unfortunately, DH drank the soda (grrrr), so he went back to the store and came back with peach fresca instead. It was pretty good, actually. Not much peach taste, though. I think it was just too subtle. Next time, I'm going to hide my diet soda so DH won't find it!

The kids loved them!!! The twins are so glad that there were quite a few left over. They are eating them for snacks. They don't even want the frosting (or Cool Whip) on them. They just eat them like muffins.

I weighed in today!

Good news! I lost my first 2 pounds!!

Last week...nothing...this week 2...I'm so happy :goodvibes and encouraged.

I did really good all day as a result!

Hooray!!! 2 pounds is great!!! See? We told you you could do it!!! I'm so proud of you!!!

I am down 2 more pounds this week! I am at my 1/2 way mark for my 1st goal! My weight loss seems to be going slow, but I know this is because I do not exercise enough & I still don't drink enough water. But as long as the scale keeps going down, I will be happy :yay:

Yay, Janet!!!! It's a great feeling to see the numbers go down, isn't it?

Are you drinking your water? Make sure that you do, and you'll be surprised at how full you feel, and how much the numbers drop.

Also, are you taking a multi-vitamin? That is so important, as well. One a Day makes one that helps with metabolism. It's amazing how much better I feel if I remember to take my vitamins.

Other than that, just keep going. It will work, and we will be here for you!

Having a menu plan is incredibly important. I write mine down on my calendar every Sunday. I also write down what I'm making for breakfasts and lunches. That way, when I make my shopping list, I'm not tempted to put extras down. It's also helped our food budget.

Well with TOM ending and being back home this week with full power, the excess seems to have sloughed off quickly. I am down 5 lbs this week for a total loss of 12 for the year! :woohoo:

I bought a dry erase calendar from the Target dollar spot and have been writing our dinners on there. I haven't started planning lunch or breakfast yet, but usually have a decent supply of cold and hot cereal on hand, plus sandwich stuff. I need to start planning more lunch options for me as that is when I find myself staring into the fridge for awhile trying to decide what to eat.

Thanks, Ellen! It's really helpful to see how much difference just not eating out all of the time and preparing healthy meals can make.

I was just saying that to DH last night. It is actually a lot more work to eat right because I have to think ahead and then plan and prepare meals, but in the end it is satisfying because I am enjoying the food and losing weight. Also, although my grocery bill is somewhat higher, I am saving money when I don't eat out. Now I just have to stick with it!

And that will be the trick for me as well! I really enjoy the cooking portion so that is good. The planning needs some improvement and I am guessing that I'll get used to the higher grocery bill. It's still just a shock to see. Plus, I have to remember that I'm feeding twice as many people (and sometimes many more) on that bill too since I pay for most of the groceries for the house so it feeds by 3, Mom's 3 plus sometimes all of Kristi's 5 and Erin's 2. I just need to work in more variety in my meal plans as I get bored easily. I am hoping that in the end I will be enjoying my home meals enough that I don't resort back to the eating out habits. I was happy to find myself not enjoying some meals we ate out while the power was out as much as I had in the past. I think that I am starting to notice some of the differences, like with sodium content, as I cook more at home and that should help me keep at it as well.

This is how my boys ate them too!

Awesome Tia! :cheer2:

Tia 5 lbs is awesome!!!!!!!!!!

Planning is key for me....I sit down each night & write out my food for the next day in my WW Quik Trak. That way I know what I am eating the next day so no chance for me to waiver & if I write it down I really seem to stick to it. I also think about the week ahead as I am grocery shopping & try to stick to what I have bought to cook. We eat out only about 1 x a week for a very nice dinner & go to Subway for lunch about 3 x a week. Our grocery bill is ridiculous for 2 people, but I don't really look at what I am spending & buying WW products, 100 cal packs for snacks for me & fresh produce etc is more expensive.
