DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

My WI is tomorrow & right now I am down 6lbs from January 2nd. I did not stay on the plan for about 5 days but I am back & committed. DH is doing "fatkins" as he likes to call it..works so well for him but not for me. I had a chocolate skinny cow ice cream sandwich last night & i was in heaven. I couldn't give up my sweets totally so WW's works best for me. Good luck & I like what Melanie says "just keep swimming" that should be our motto!

Glynis -- congratulations to you and Alan, too! How exciting :goodvibes So what wave did you start in? Were you in C with us? I wondered all morning where you guys were, if you were nearby! :)

ETA: Work is fantastic! I started my new job on December 1st, and I couldn't be happier going in every day. I hope you guys are doing well!

We were in wave C, too!!! Now, I'm really bummed! Bad me!!! We were probably really close to each other at certain points. I was positive that you were in A or B.

I'm so glad that you are enjoying your new job! That is so important!!! Being happy with your job is what makes the difference. We are all doing so well, here!

We started towards the front of C.... I want to say like 26/27 minutes after the start is when we crossed. I think we finished around B2 or something (at least lots of people around us were), at a total time of 3:30 something. I bet we were waiting right near each other! :rotfl:

Well ya'll I have had a bad couple of days...just couldn't seem to stay on track with my eating. Not sure what my deal has been :confused3:, but I will get right back on it tomorrow & I WILL start excercising this week. I need a good swift kick in the pants.
I am sure weigh-in tomorrow night will not be good, but I will go face the music.
I know there are bad days & good days...the difference now is I recover faster from the bad days when I think about how far I have come & how I don't want to go back!!!!
Welcome back Ellen!!!!
Good luck on weigh ins this week everybody!!

Just keep swimming everybody :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish:

If the weather cooperates I will also face the music tomorrow. I have not had a good week and TOM came so that won't help. I guess I can just look forward to a bigger loss next week. Gotta turn that frown upside down afterall.

I managed to get my exercise in today. I didn't think I would as my kids are all home, and I had to babysit my niece's 2 boys. At the last minute she and her husband decided to go out to lunch after her business meeting, so I ended up having them from 8:00 in the morning until 2:00 in the afternoon.

But, I did it! 35 minutes on the treadmill! Feels good to have another goal, and to be working on it! Thanks for keeping me accountable, people!

Great job! I still haven't started. :sad2: My friend has baled on me the past two weeks in a row. This Friday I am going whether she does or not!

Everyone seems to be doing so well! Tell me though how you lose 6-8 pounds in a week? I would be on cloud nine if I did that! You should all feel so proud of yourself :cool1:

My WI is tomorrow & I have to be to work at 6am. So I will be doing it a couple of hours early, shouldn't make that much of a difference, I hope :confused3

Right now if I have lost at least another pound I will happy(2 would be better ;) ). Good luck to everyone!

Good luck Tinknme, on your weigh in...mine's tomorrow too, it was going to be today, but ice storm postponed it..

Way to go Glynis...35 mins on the treadmill is a lot!

just checking in....i weighed in at 151 this morning, so i did gain a couple of pounds back, but i expected that after eating hospital food and eating on the run the last several days--starting tomorrow, grandma should be home so ill be back on track..

Hello every one Im joining your thread and your struggel!
I lost 25lbs 2 years ago and have since gained 30 of it back! My picks from Disney last year are gross! And we go again in May so Im hard at it Id like to get 1/2 of it off before we go! So Im on the treadmill 30 min to 60 min a day!
Trying to eat good. Today Im going to start tracking my cals!
I drink all my water every day!

I made a ladder on paper and taped it on my bathroom mirror every day I wright how much exersise I do and if I drank my water. It is very motovating to see all the days I have exersised, and when you dont exersise it leaves an empty hole, but in the past 13 days Ive exersised 10 days! Im very proud of that!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Im looking forward to chatting with you all about your progress!
Good luck to every one It sounds like you all have a great start!

:welcome: I sounds like you are off to a great start. I know that you want to lose a lot quickly, but you need to think longterm too, how do you plan to keep it off. You need to make changes for life. Are you planning to workout on the treadmill for 60 min a day for the rest of your life? If so kudos to you, if not be careful because when you stop you will see gains again. A lot of us have done the yo-yo diet thing and the same goes for exercise. Now we are eating and exercising in manners that we can sustain for the rest of our life. There is awesome support, information, recipes and losses here. Feel free to join us and we will be here for you.

Thanks. When I'm walking outside I can go for an hour and feel really good, but the treadmill is harder for me to stay focused, since it's easy to stop. I'm already home!

I'm hoping to do 40 minutes today. I don't know, though. I have to run a ton of errands this morning, so I'm hoping I don't run out of time today.

DH gave me his old laptop (until he sells it), and I can set it up on the treadmill and slip a movie in and watch while I'm walking. It really helps keep me focused!

Welcome to our little family! We will support you and celebrate with you!

I like your ladder idea! I'm a very visual person, so to see something like that would really help me as well!

Congrats on 10 out of 13 days! That's very impressive!!!! Keep it up and let us know how you are doing, and what we can do to support you!

I wanted to tell you all about some T-shirts that we saw all along the half marathon route. They were worn by a bunch of DIS'ers (lime green shirts, of course), and on the back they said:

DLF>DNF>>DNS

Dead Last Finish is greater than Did Not Finish which greatly trumps Did Not Start.

I loved that slogan, and felt like it could apply to us here, as well. We should all be proud that we have started! Let's just keep working toward our goals. Together we can make it!!!
