DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

I gotta get my butt in gear. My weight has basically been at the same place since February, at least I lost something.

I have figured out why my weight has went no where, even though I have been excercising and eating healthier. With me working at any hour of the day, I find myself eating at any hour of the day and sometimes going to sleep soon after. Since I do not have a set schedule, if I am up I might be hungry but heading to bed sometime soon. No wonder my metabolism is screwed up as it has no idea when it should be in burn mode and when it should be in rest mode.

I will have to figure out a set eating schedule so that I can attempt to break this cycle and perhaps exercise every day at the same time. But this is so hard as sometimes I am working and the next day I have off at the same time. Figuring this out is probably the only way I will lose any weight.

I am not a weight loss, nutrition expert, Becky.... BUT... I am going to give you a tip that might help you out. My work schedule is odd too. I teach some private lessons and a class most mornings, Monday-Saturday. Then I am home for a couple of hours until I head back to work at 2:30-9:00. That makes finding a normal eating schedule difficult for me too. I have to add that I have found a way to put 30-45 minutes of exercise into my daily routine too, whcih I am sure has helped immensely.

Although I LOVE the NutriSystem program I am using, I think there are a few pointers they give that would benefit you without the expense of purchasing their meals. Try finding a way to eat 5 times a day. I eat a light breakfast (small bowl of oatmeal or cereal or a half a bagel, a dairy product such as milk or yogurt or cottage cheese or cheese, and a serving of fruit). About 3 hours later I eat lunch which always includes a salad and some protein, fruit and dairy. About 3 hours later I eat a snack consisting of a piece of fruit and a dairy (an oz. of cheese, 4 oz. of cottage cheese, a container of light yogurt). There is a snack that they provide but you could easily do some pretzel sticks or Wheat Thins/Triscuits (low sodium) after 3 hours or so. Then dinner is not until 9:00 for me... another salad and a couple servings of veggies and one of their entrees. You could easily use either Lean Cuisine or shop very carefully and portion control "over the counter" foods and do this too.

So, I am eating (smaller meals) at approximately 9, 12, 3, 6 and 9. It has worked for me and might be worth a try for you.

Quick post on my way to get Ellie from school. I will catch up later today.

I was a very bad person this past five days. I weighed in on Friday at WW and I didn’t loose or gain anything. This miffed me a bit, so I took the weekend off (nothing real bad, just didn’t count everything) But last night I ate a chocolate bar and peanut butter for dinner. Yes I am sorry for that today, but at the time I just didn’t care.

So my goal for the rest of the week is to STOP the madness and get my self back in gear. I will (and have the girls doing this with me) drink one large 34 oz (girls only get about 8 oz of water per day. We all have a cup that we must drink by dinner everyday. This is good for all of us, the girls need to start getting lost of water everyday with summer coming.

Now my motivational spiel for you and me.

We can do this! We will get to the weight we want!

Now say it out loud and it will happen!

I can do this! I will get to the weight I want!

I have been told many times that if you say things out loud, but truly mean them and it will motivate you to do it.

So lets say it again one more time.

I can do this! I will get to the weight I want!

Good for you. That took a lot. I know very well about temptation. I am definately a stress eater. This week has been one of the most stressful of my life with several big project all happening at once. Well on Thursday night I found myself baking sugar cookies at midnight which the kids needed for a teacher appreciation party the next day. I have always had a weakness for sugar cookies and between the stress, the cookie smell and the hour of the night I gave in and ate cookie dough. I knew it was a bad thing to do, but it was comforting at the time. I did manage to get right back on track Friday morning so It didn't escalate, but still I messed up. For you to not give into that temptation is huge. You go girl. I'll use you as my inspiration next time.

Anyone mind if I jump in and join in?

I need some help staying on track with my new get fit plan, I was so good last year in the run up to the wedding and then since then it's gone to pot! I need to shift half a stone and know that I can do it if I just get my butt in gear.

Hope y'all don't mind?
