DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Anyone mind if I jump in and join in?

I need some help staying on track with my new get fit plan, I was so good last year in the run up to the wedding and then since then it's gone to pot! I need to shift half a stone and know that I can do it if I just get my butt in gear.

Hope y'all don't mind?

Well...okay...but only if you tell us what "shift half a stone" means.
:teeth: Of course that's not really a requirement to join in, but I will wonder for awhile if you don't tell us.

I think a stone is about 14 pounds. So I'm thinking that Clare wants to lose about 7 pounds.

Anne Marie started a 100 day challenge for herself (and I've joined her) on April 19th. We're going for 100 days of eating right (within Weight Watcher points) and getting exercise. So far, so good!

Welcome aboard, Clare! Is half a stone about 7 pounds?

oh crikey - don't tell me you're all working in Kilograms??? I have no idea about metric measurements!! Yup a stone is 14 pounds so I'm looking to lose about 7 which apparently is about 3 kilos (thanks google!)

I was very good this morning and did my half hour of low impact aerobics... so now I'm set up for the day :thumbsup2

Beth - we were sharing the brain last night. I had not read your post when I asked about the 7 pound weight loss for Clare!

Clare - we are not working in kilograms! that would be so un-American! :rotfl: I had to look up how much a stone was and do a quick division to figure out how much you wanted to lose.

Well, I guess it is time to come on here and confess. I was doing very well until about 2 weeks ago. In that time, I'm up 2 or 3 pounds from all that I had lost. I'm stress eating because of my job and not controlling my portions. I also haven't been drinking ANY water. The other night I made fudge - luckily I didn't wait long enough to add the vanilla so the consistency & taste wasn't quite right so I didn't eat the whole pan. I'm still only having one pepsi a day which was a major contribution to my weight loss (since I'd been drinking 100+ ounces before October).

So, starting now, I will once again start watching my portions and drinking 40 oz. of water per day. I also want to start exercising 2 hours a week (1/2 hour per day for 4 days). Once I get that added to my schedule, I'll increase it. Thanks DDA friends for being here to support & encourage me.

:confused3 so what are you working in then? :confused3

Do you think I'll ever get over this language barrier?? :rotfl2:

ETA: I just read Vicki's post and think I worked it out... you deal just in pounds... where we break them down into stones... not sure why, maybe it makes us sound lighter, as we work in tens instead of hundreds  :rotfl2:

Am I right?

Hey Vicki - keep up the good work - forget about the last two weeks and just get back on track. :thumbsup2

You must drink your water every day - it's good for you! I keep two 500ml bottles (think thats 16oz each) on my desk at work and it's easy to get through them in a day as they're right there in front of me. I also have a 500 ml bottle of orange squash for lunch (which is just flavoured water really)

Hang on a minute - is that right?? 500ml = 16oz? Does that mean you were drinking 3 litres of coke a day? I'd be bouncing off walls on that much caffeine :hyper:

Do you know if you need me to I can put you all off coke for life... if it helps... ;)

Yes, Clare, we just work in pounds over here. Fortunately, I've read enough Dick Francis to have to know what a stone is. :)

Vicki--CONGRATS to you for coming back and getting on track! YOU CAN DO IT!!! I find that drinking water is one of the best things you can do. It is good for you (as Clare said), it helps fill you up, it reminds you what you are working on every time you take a drink, and it makes you feel better overall.

Yup! You are right. We also use pounds but don't lump them into stones :rotfl:

Yes, that is how much (around 3 liters) pepsi I was drinking a day before October. The funny thing is as I've posted on here somewhere was that I'm nuttier now than when I drank 5 times as much pepsi. My problem is that when I get stressed I crave my pepsi and it is extra hard to stick to my water. So, I did good the last two weeks by not binging on my pepsi again!

Vicki - :yay: see you didn't fall off the wagon completely then :)

I weaned myself off coke last year when I thought it was causing my stomach problems...actually it may have been the year before! I now drink sprite but only once a week maybe if I crave some fizz. I couldn't drink coke now as I;ve made myself sensitive to caffeine, but I just don't fancy it anymore either.

Hi Ladies,

Today is day 17 of my 100 day challenge. Lost about 7 lbs so far. WI is Wednesday. I almost caved today. I was having my alloted 2 dove dark chocolates (2 points) when I got a hankering for more..like the whole bag. Well I drank 3 glasses of water until the feeling passed. Whew.. For the first time since I started WW's (again) I really thought I was going to blow it..but I didn't...

Good for you Anne Marie! That's the way to get rid of the cravings. Water will do it every time!

Yay! Clare is joining us! :cheer2:

This is a great place to come for support and encouragement. We usually just report in here how we are doing, report any losses, and ask for help when we need it! You are always more than welcome here!

Just let us know what you need and we'll cheer you on!

Good for you. That took a lot. I know very well about temptation. I am definately a stress eater. This week has been one of the most stressful of my life with several big project all happening at once. Well on Thursday night I found myself baking sugar cookies at midnight which the kids needed for a teacher appreciation party the next day. I have always had a weakness for sugar cookies and between the stress, the cookie smell and the hour of the night I gave in and ate cookie dough. I knew it was a bad thing to do, but it was comforting at the time. I did manage to get right back on track Friday morning so It didn't escalate, but still I messed up. For you to not give into that temptation is huge. You go girl. I'll use you as my inspiration next time.

Deb

Deb, don't worry too much about the cookie dough! I think if we sometimes don't give ourselves what we are craving, just a little bit, then we mess up really big next time. The important thing is to not beat yourself up about it. Just pick up and continue on! We're right behind you!

Well, you can shift some of the blame to me if you want to. After all, Jiminy Cricket hasn't been too good lately. I promise I'll starte PM'ing you again this week and check in with you. If you still want me to, that is!

I'm glad you didn't just give up and walk away from us. That would have been really bad! Now we can all just encourage each other again! You can do it, Vicki! I think you're amazing for cutting out all the Pepsi! That's a really hard thing to do. The rest will come. Just remember, babysteps. Flylady's system works here, too!

Hi Beth & everyone.
Beth I was going to PM you just now but since I saw your note here I might as well spill on this thread. Saturday & Sunday I totally went off the plan. We have been doing work on the house & I was stripping wallpaper & painting. No time to cook so we had fast food all weekend. Today I was half on & half off SOOOOO I start back tomorrow in full swing. I am not counting the last 3 days in my 100 day count because I didn't stay on plan...so technically I am at 18 days of doing the right thing. (I lost 3 days & I am bummed & I probably gained 5 lbs by now, I am not weighing in until my official day which is Wednesday). I jusy may need to start meetings cause this has been going on since January & I am only down about 10 lbs from then. Ok, kick my butt.

Great job to those who have stayed the course!!! I am trying again tomorrow. :goodvibes
