DDA Chapter 8

Good morning, DDA! I guess I'm doomed not to catch up yet again. We had a great weekend, though very short. Thanks to Dad and his inability to leave at a decent time, we didn't get on the road until 7:30pm Fri, arriving at 4:15am Sat morning. Up at 8 to get ready and leave for my aunt's for the reunion. Stayed at her place later than anticipated and arrived back at Granny's at 10pm to get up at 6:30am to load up, etc and meet my mom's family for breakfast. We drove around the neighborhood that I grew up in before leaving town and made it back at 9pm Sun night. Whew!

Our friends had a great trip to WDW though came back beat! They all had so much fun though and are anxious to go back. They brough Mom and me our requested antenna balls, plus gave me a cute Figment pin and a gift card to Mimi's Cafe as a thank you for helping plan.

This week has been crazy as the family settles into their new house. It is sooo good that the older two are gone until next Thus as the place is a disaster. Only a couple of rooms are actually done and the kitchen should be done this week. The basement will have to be finished later and since that's the playroom and will be BigSis' room, that should be fun. We start the summer church program today so I don't go up until this afternoon, but hopefully I can at least get the boxes more organized today and finish labelling the visable sides so that I can actually find things as needed. I think we're going to set up a makeshift pantry as well so that at least we have access to food and dishes. This fast food all of the time is sooo not going to help me get somewhere near my weight loss goal by our trip. ;)

Well, I've got to shower and make lunches yet so I guess I had better get. Have a good one everyone!!

You stay so busy in MO! Do you ever have time for concretes?! I would kill for a marshmallow one right about now.... so much so, that St. Louis (for other reasons as well, kind of ;)) is way up on our list of road trips for October! :rolleyes1

Isn't it amazing that some nurses are still surprised by things like this. With both my girls, I told them I had to start pushing. They were like there is no way you are that close. Both times they ended up running out of the room and trying to get everything in place. The one thing that I've learned from listening to all the stories is you never know with babies. It may be forever or it may be NOW!

the attending dr. with Abi was so surprised when he got called back 15 minutes after he told me it was going to be a few hours. The nurse was surprised mid push on the first push and told me to stop so Abi didn't come before the dr. :lmao:

Nick woke up in tears. The motrin had worn off and the sore throat was horrible. Chris gave him more motrin and sudafed and sent him back to bed. I gave him some throat strips and throat spray and we'll keep him medicated today. Hopefully it will pass soon. He is looking quite comfy all tucked in on the couch for now.

Colby has Speech Therapy this morning then his end of year party around lunchtime. I'd better get ready.

I hope he is feeling a bit better now! :(

We were talking about our "road trip" last night, and dh said, "You aren't making us wear matching t-shirts, right? Because I'll have to draw the line at that!" :rotfl: I told him that is only for WDW.

Yeah, somehow it doesn't quite work elsewhere, does it?

Yeah..... Kyle and I both have built pretty solid opinions of the OB nurses we have worked with, or have now experienced as patients. Jennifer, postpartum nurses don't count ;) and Denise, I think you did mother-baby too? If not, I know there are exceptions... maybe it's just Yankee OB nurses! :teeth:

Hope all the sick kiddos feel better, yea for the last day of school for some, and hugs and PD to everyone else!

Chanon, thanks for the hours links. I'll have to pull out our wedding bulletin to see what we did. I know we had a sermon and sang several songs since I love music.

Deb - Hope Nick feels better soon! :wizard:

I am jealous of all of you who just had one push and the baby popped out! I pushed for two hours and NOTHING happened! I don't think my epidural was very good. I was still in horrible pain but it numbed all the muscles I needed to push with. The Dr. came in and said in another 30 minutes she was going to vacuum him out, but I was able to get him out on my own. It really is a good thing I only wanted one child because I don't think I would have gone through it again.
I had pre-eclampsia so I wasn't allowed to get out of the bed, my water broke about 2 hours into the induction which I have heard makes labor more painful, I told the nurse I was going to throw up during transition and she blew me off. The next time she came in I was puking. I went from 6 cm to 10 cm REALLY fast, but DS's head was nowhere near the birth canal. He had every intention of staying in there. The OB said I would probably go to 42 weeks, but that was before my blood pressure shot through the roof. And they say you "forget" how painful childbirth is. HA! I don't think I will be forgetting anytime soon! :rotfl:

Yes, I did Family Centered Care (Mother-Baby).

I really like those program covers and the candle. Are you Lutheran? I just know that Augsburg Fortress is ELCA. Our first reading was I Corinthians 13:1-13. That is the one that is used at a lot of weddings with "love is patient and kind" and ending with "the greatest of these is love." Our second reading was Ecclesiastes 3:1-14 which is "there is a season..."
I was raised Catholic and converted to Lutheran a few years after I met Bob.
hee hee....I didn't even think about it but I get catalogs nearly weekly for bulletin covers of every kind. There is one company we try not to go through anymore...let me get to work and I can tell you what one it is.
Are you going to have colored writing in your program or just black?? That would swing my vote.
It's going to be all black writing, and the whole ceremony (from readings to blessing to prayers) will be listed inside. We are keeping with this company because this is the one the church uses, and at $7.99 for 100 is an EXCELLENT price.
Those are very pretty, Chanon.

For our readings we used:

Genesis 2:18-24
1st Corinthinans Chapter 13

Can't remember the Gospel reading. But then again, I'm not the best to model yourself after. :rolleyes2
This is what we are still debating on. And your a great model! It's your exH that's the issue. ;)
Chanon, how exciting! :yay: We used very traditional readings, from 1 Corinthians 13 and Genesis 2:24. There may have been one more, let me think about it :) It was a protestant ceremony, so I don't know if you'll have more readings than that or what. I like the "Two Become One" program cover. Is that a group you were given to choose from by the church, etc, or is that just where you are choosing from? I don't remember if we've seen the finals :), but is there anything that coordinates with your invitations? Making them coordinate really helped us decide/create all the parts. That site has some really beautiful programs, though! I miss wedding planning! :goodvibes
Here's the invite we decided on:

The paper just "feels" good in your hand. Sounds funny, I know, but that was important to me. :teeth: I have to order those tonight! :faint:

We've definately decided on 1 Corinthians 13 1:13 and Psalm 100. Might add one more reading...might add the Gospel if we decide on communion.

Deb - It didn't quote yours! :headache: That's what we plan on doing too - his mom, then mine, then us during the ceremony.

other than the epidural that was Cassidy's birth....except they tried the vacuum and it fell off:rotfl: They kept threatening c-section and she'd come down just enough to stave that off....kid has always been strong willed:goodvibes

I have submitted my grocery order to WeGoShop. It will be delivered on Saturday. I talked with Marge last night. I have so MUCH to do at work and to finish packing for this trip. It isn't helping that my sister calls 3 or 4 times a day asking about the packing list I sent. I sent it so she had an idea on what we take. She took it literally and thinks she needs everything on the list. There are hat & mittens on the list because it was created for our March trips which get cold enough for them. I really don't think we need them for this trip. The list was also created when we didn't have a washer & dryer in the room. I've told her these things but with everything else that is going on she totally forgot. I can't wait until we pull out of the driveway on the way to Green Bay. Whatever we don't have done, we'll just do without!!!!!

Those invitations are beautiful! I'm imagining you can't get something that matches that for the price you listed.... that is fantastic!

That is very nice! We had our mothers light the side candles when they walked in to start the ceremony, and of course did the unity candle later in the service. It was the same image, but it sounds like doing it all together would have made the point more clear! :goodvibes

This is how we did it, too. I like the idea of doing it all together.

All the wedding talk this morning made me go pull out my wedding video. We haven't watched it in many, many years. I was planning to sit down as a family and watch it on our 20th anniversary, but the day just sort of slipped away from us. I'm pretty sure that my kids have never seen it.

Video quality from 20 years ago is pretty bad. I hate my laugh and how I talk.

I'm actually glad that we didn't watch it as a family, because as soon as my aunt appeared on the screen followed soon after by my grandmothers, tears just started streaming down my face. I'm still a little teary.

Aagh, I'm so jealous! I don't think I realized you left this week!

We drive to Green Bay tomorrow night and fly to Disney on Friday morning. We should be landing by noon. Hopefully, we'll be at the resort by 1pm.

Ok, I'm off to try and find something to eat. I'm so nauseated, but also starving. No fun! 12 more days at the "worst" ........... :sad2: I can't decide what I'm looking forward to the most, other than the babies of course. At the moment, I think it's sleeping for even a few minutes at a time. I swear, I'll be the only mother of twins that gets more sleep after! :rotfl:

I was throwing up a lot during transition with Laura, and my ever cheery midwife remarked about how wonderful that was at moving the baby down. She was my worst pain-wise. Matthew and Laura were both induced. Miles was completely natural. If it were up to me, it would have been an unattended hospital birth, too, but dh was getting really nervous. I was still mad at that first nurse and even though I knew she had left, I didn't want to see another nurse that night.
