DDA Chapter 8

Good morning, DDA! I guess I'm doomed not to catch up yet again. We had a great weekend, though very short. Thanks to Dad and his inability to leave at a decent time, we didn't get on the road until 7:30pm Fri, arriving at 4:15am Sat morning. Up at 8 to get ready and leave for my aunt's for the reunion. Stayed at her place later than anticipated and arrived back at Granny's at 10pm to get up at 6:30am to load up, etc and meet my mom's family for breakfast. We drove around the neighborhood that I grew up in before leaving town and made it back at 9pm Sun night. Whew!

Our friends had a great trip to WDW though came back beat! They all had so much fun though and are anxious to go back. They brough Mom and me our requested antenna balls, plus gave me a cute Figment pin and a gift card to Mimi's Cafe as a thank you for helping plan.

This week has been crazy as the family settles into their new house. It is sooo good that the older two are gone until next Thus as the place is a disaster. Only a couple of rooms are actually done and the kitchen should be done this week. The basement will have to be finished later and since that's the playroom and will be BigSis' room, that should be fun. We start the summer church program today so I don't go up until this afternoon, but hopefully I can at least get the boxes more organized today and finish labelling the visable sides so that I can actually find things as needed. I think we're going to set up a makeshift pantry as well so that at least we have access to food and dishes. This fast food all of the time is sooo not going to help me get somewhere near my weight loss goal by our trip. ;)

Well, I've got to shower and make lunches yet so I guess I had better get. Have a good one everyone!!

Here is June and July and August and September and October. :teeth:

We met with our Pastor on Monday night to talk about the wedding. It was really interesting. We found out we have the option between communion and no communion and WE could be the ones to give it out during the ceremony. (I thought that was interesting...) We have to pick our readings (does anyone want to share what they used???) and my uncle (an ordained minister) can help with the service all he wants except for the vows. We also have to pick our wedding program covers...we seem to be leaning towards "Two Shall Become One", the one with the white bible and rings, and the ivory cross one. There is also this unity candle which is a great price too.

Happy Birthday Daniel!

Thanks for the links.

We did a unity candle, but did the ceremony part of that a bit different. We asked our parents to light the side candles (long matches). They got up and lit those then pass the candles to us. From there we lit the center candle thus "uniting" the 2 families. Everyone commented on how unique it was and what a nice touch it was.

Nick woke up in tears. The motrin had worn off and the sore throat was horrible. Chris gave him more motrin and sudafed and sent him back to bed. I gave him some throat strips and throat spray and we'll keep him medicated today. Hopefully it will pass soon. He is looking quite comfy all tucked in on the couch for now.

Colby has Speech Therapy this morning then his end of year party around lunchtime. I'd better get ready.

We were talking about our "road trip" last night, and dh said, "You aren't making us wear matching t-shirts, right? Because I'll have to draw the line at that!" :rotfl: I told him that is only for WDW.

pixiedust: Feel better, Nick!!! pixiedust: And get all of this sickness out before the big trip!

Good morning...

Just a quick pop in before I need to start getting ready. Emma and Lucy are feeling better. Molly now has the cough of death but seems fine otherwise. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

It's been busy and since this is the last week of school and Emma gets out 2 hours early it throws my day all wonky. Yesterday we also had Mo's preschool promotion program. And today is her school picnic. My aunt is coming over to fill in for me and watch Lucy and the boys. My sister is meeting us at the park, I just hope the storms hold off until later this afternoon.

I've read along but just haven't had a chance to respond individually.'s and :wizard:
I'm glad the girls are doing better. Hopefully Molly's cough will clear up soon. Today is Alyssa's "beach party" at school, so I too hope the storms hold off until later today. I had both kids climb in bed with me in the middle of the night when the thunder started booming.

hee hee....I didn't even think about it but I get catalogs nearly weekly for bulletin covers of every kind. There is one company we try not to go through anymore...let me get to work and I can tell you what one it is.

Are you going to have colored writing in your program or just black?? That would swing my vote.

Those are very pretty, Chanon.

For our readings we used:

Genesis 2:18-24
1st Corinthinans Chapter 13

Can't remember the Gospel reading. But then again, I'm not the best to model yourself after. :rolleyes2

When I was having Miles, I got to the hospital just a little before 11:00 pm (shift change). I think it was a busy night for them, and the nurse who took me in was in a nasty mood. She muttered several things under her breath about me not actually being in labor and that I was going to end up going home after wasting their time. She sent me in to give a urine specimen and told me she'd be right back to hook me to the monitors. She also told me she'd call the midwife, since I hadn't thought to do it before we left home. She never returned, and, as it turned out, never called the midwife. At about 12:50 dh went out to let the nurses know that I was getting close. The nurses told him that there was nobody in the room, and he quipped, "There are about to be two people in that room." They called my midwife and then raced into the room. The nurse actually paled when she checked me and realized that I was fully effaced and 10cm. They asked me to try not to push until the midwife arrived, and I did my best. It's really kind of impossible not to. Fortunately, the midwife made it there very quickly. Miles was born in one push at 1:05 am.

Isn't it amazing that some nurses are still surprised by things like this. With both my girls, I told them I had to start pushing. They were like there is no way you are that close. Both times they ended up running out of the room and trying to get everything in place. The one thing that I've learned from listening to all the stories is you never know with babies. It may be forever or it may be NOW!

:wizard: :wizard: for Nick.

Good morning. :)

I don't have to be at work until noon today. I have a 7 PM meeting there tonight, so I am adjusting my hours. Bob will get the kids for me, take Nicholas to BB practice, then have them home and ready for bed when I get here.

Thanks for all the hours, Chanon!

Janet, we just don't get insurance! :teeth: We were looking into it when we had a cruise scheduled for hurricane season just in case they didn't sail, but we've never purchased it for any of our trips.

Chanon, how exciting! :yay: We used very traditional readings, from 1 Corinthians 13 and Genesis 2:24. There may have been one more, let me think about it :) It was a protestant ceremony, so I don't know if you'll have more readings than that or what. I like the "Two Become One" program cover. Is that a group you were given to choose from by the church, etc, or is that just where you are choosing from? I don't remember if we've seen the finals :), but is there anything that coordinates with your invitations? Making them coordinate really helped us decide/create all the parts. That site has some really beautiful programs, though! I miss wedding planning! :goodvibes

That is very nice! We had our mothers light the side candles when they walked in to start the ceremony, and of course did the unity candle later in the service. It was the same image, but it sounds like doing it all together would have made the point more clear! :goodvibes
