DDA Chapter 8

I guess I need to get motivated. I promised the kids that I would take them swimming this afternoon and they don't care that it isn't hot out. I think we will work on making those shirts this morning. Hopefully they will come out as cute as we saw in family fun, if not at least they are making them themselves so I'm not at blame :thumbsup2

No idea what they might be - but given that it's their 37th anniversary (right? I think that's the number I saw...) maybe some fares that are $37 dollars?

I was thinking that is probably what they will offer too. Probably very limited locations, though. Let's hope I am wrong about the second part of my statement!

Yep. Hopefully the weather will clear up around here. We have rain in the forcast as far out as we can see. It isn't even too hot right now. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Will you get to catch up with Bernadette or catch a sox game? Whatever you do you will be with family and it will be wonderful.

No Sox game as far as I know. But I am certainly hoping to meet Bernadette! :goodvibes We are still working out everywhere we want to go when, if that makes sense. Our first weekend is probably already taken up with a birthday party for my nephew, with possibly Sunday the 29th being open. And we are coming home on Saturday the 5th to miss some traffic issues on Sunday. Since Bernadette is a working woman too, we will have to plan very carefully around her work schedule.

I need to go to the grocery store and spend some time in my poor little garden. It is so confused... Our weather of late, heavy rains followed by temps over 100 and then heavy rains again, is taking its toll. I fear while we are gone I will lose all my hanging baskets. :(

Enjoy your mornings, everyone (especially vacationing Tammi ;))! :goodvibes

I could pop over and water them if you would like. When I go away I take mine down and put them in a spot that gets lots of shade in hopes of keeping them alive.

If you all wouldn't mind stepping up the pixie dust for the job on Wednesday...I will be talking to the Ex. Pastor then. I am hoping that means I have effectively moved to the next level in the process. I had been a goober and not attached a cover letter (can you tell I haven't done this in forever??:confused3 ) So I wrote one and used it as an excuse to remind them I had applied...it worked:thumbsup2

Good luck!

You are QUICK! The pictures are actually right on the blog post now, so even easier ;)
They are beautiful!!!

This is what I would say too. GF just seems more stuffy to me.
That is what I a afraid of. The BC is my kind of place...flip flops & ice cream.

The Grand Floridian is not a resort that we will ever try. We are too redneck to be comfortable there :rotfl:
OMG, I just spit my coffee out!!:lmao: You crack me up!

Since I have only stayed at the BC, I really cannot honestly say anything about the GF. But,,,I would want to stay there just once to say I did. Even though moving during a stay at WDW would be bothersome, I would try it just once to try it.

I figure we all put our pants on one leg at a time and everyone picks their nose,,,:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: OH come on you all do, just like we all scratch our behinds so, what the heck, just one time, stay at the GF.
:lmao: :rotfl2:

We had a good day at the Post Office. We were finally stimulated :goodvibes and our postmaster decided that she just wanted to get rid of the Disney pins that she still had so she sold them all to me for $.99 each. She only had 10, but that's 10 more for our trip :thumbsup2

I got all of my index cards typed up. I did one for each day and I did separate ones with each parks hours and misc info. Chris thought they were very nice ::yes:: Hopefully it will be easier to keep track of ADRs etc since we are dealing with 3 families.

I managed to take off the weight I gained on the cruise but have been pretty much at a standstill, so I joined the gym yesterday to "kick it up a notch", now to make myself go. I pass it on my way home from work everyday so my plan is to stop in after work, hopefully I won't make excuses not to.

Have a great day everyone!
Good for you on losing the cruise weight!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Snuggle in for a story, children...

There are people who love the value resorts and see no reason to go up to a moderate. There are those who will never stay in anything except a deluxe. There are some, like Anne Marie, who have found a resort that is their favorite and go back there year after year. Disney has made certain that we can all find something that pushes all our buttons, no matter which ones we like to have pushed. I say, give it a try, Anne Marie. The worst that can happen is that you will find a new favorite resort. Or you will once again realize that the Beach Club really is "home" to you and your family.
Thanks for that Elin. I think it may be the later " Or you will once again realize that the Beach Club really is "home" to you and your family" Dana is up for a split stay but he is not the one that does the packing & unpacking!

I was reading along yesterday, but I didn't have any time to post.

Mom just phoned. She is finished with her pre-op. They injected the radio-active stuff that they will use to track how the tumor drains so they will know which lymph nodes to target in the OR. I feel kind of queasy. It really is getting close now.
My aunt, Diva Girl, and a couple of cousins will go to the hospital tomorrow to wait for her to come out of surgery. She has to be there at 6:30 AM - not sure what time they will start her procedure.

I should make it to her house by 10:30 AM Thursday. Hopefully everything will go fine and I will come home Monday feeling like I didn't really need to go after all.

 I've been thinking about and praying for your mom this morning. I also hope that you come back on Monday feeling like you didn't really need to go.

jen and kyle congrats on your new sweet peas. im so glad they are happy and healthy

elizabeth ur moms in my thoughts

i have read everything and am all caught up. my aunt and her siblings could all use your prayers today. her mom passed away a few hours ago. also dad had his cath Friday. he came out well and defiantly needs the surgery PLUS a double bypass. they will do it at the same time so it will be scheduled soon. today shocker and i would have been a team for 10 years. Love ya girl.
 pixiedust:

I posted this on the resort board but wanted to get your opinions.

If the price were the same which would you pick & why?

BC or GF???

I haven't stayed at either, so my opinion isn't really valid. I used to want to try GF, but the last few years, I've really, really wanted to stay at BC. So, for me, it would be BC. For you, maybe give GF a try.

NO COMMENTS PLEASE, but my husband doesn't think I have the "guts" to post this picture he took the other day. I can't pass up the challenge, but I really should have wagered something. :rotfl:

One for each kid!

Amy, the belly picture is something you will treasure forever. I never allowed any, and now I regret it. :(

You look beautiful!

I have one or two around here, but not really done well (or even on purpose). I also wish that I had done some nice belly shots.

Elizabeth,
:wizard: for your mom today. You have all our prayers.

can somebody please take the humidity away??? Yes I said it's humid...it's not even all that warm but I was sweating walking to work this morning....HUMIDITY is blechy!!

With that whine out of the way:

Tom: enjoy your mini vacation

Deb: I am glad you finally got stimulated

Debbie: :thumbsup2 on the weight loss and here's hoping that joining the gym is exactly what you need to rev you up!!

Elin: Our little garden has gotten stomped on and I am not a happy camper...I may have to replant if it doesn't bounce back...though our strawberries are going great guns.

Elizabeth: your mom has and will continue to be in my prayers

Us, too (as wrong as that sounds :rotfl: )! I love doing index cards...it makes the trip seem so real. You are almost ready to go! :cool1:

I was wondering about Glynis today too. Wasn't she supposed to fly back last week? Maybe she is just busy catching up at home :confused3
I've been thinking about her, too.

Well, I better get off of here and get a nap in.
We are driving up to Sandusky this afternoon, visiting the park, and then staying overnight. We are spending all day tomorrow at Cedar Point, and then the long drive home.
I think I better rethink our clothing choices. It is only forcast to be a high of 65 tomorrow with scattered showers. Brrr... I was hoping for a little cooler weather, but with the lake breezes, I bet we will be cold!
Hopefully I can check back in on Thursday! I am taking the camera so I hope to have some pics to share with you.

Have a great time, and I'm looking forward to photos! Matthew is going to a waterpark with some friends tomorrow in Old Forge (a couple of hours from here). For all of the hot weather we've had, it's supposed to be 58 and rainy there tomorrow. Somehow, that's just how our luck goes.

Snuggle in for a story, children...

What a great story! We were at the Polynesian in early June, 1988 for our honeymoon. I was the one intrigued by the construction. Every time we passed by on the monorail, I said that we were going to stay there someday. Our next trip was in September, 1990, and I was newly pregnant. We knew that I was going to quit my job and stay at home, so we went with CBR. Now I have other deluxe resorts that I want to try before GF if we ever splurge on deluxe accomodations.

I can't wait to see them! I am so glad you all had a trip of a lifetime last week. :goodvibes

What day did you come back from the OBX? You know that traffic on 95 is always bad, but when you add in the beach comers and goers it is especially brutal. We usually go down to the beach the night before and stay outside Chesapeake or Portsmouth. Then we leave really early the day we come home, or spend the day there and come home late at night, just to beat the traffic. I think I hate I-64 traffic more than 95 though! That stretch from the NC/VA border to Richmond is a killer.

That part where the road goes from four lanes down to three then two real fast was the worst!!!! We thought it was because of the tunnel and it maybe was only one lane. But thankfully it was two lanes. We of course left on Saturday morning with everyone else.

We are just gonna do the other way and avoid 95.

That is very sweet of you, Tammi! We will have a dog-sitter (remember Ashley from dinner a couple of weeks ago?) and she will water them. But I have every expectation that when I come home I will be replacing them since they are already looking kind of pitiful. I got a $75 gift card from Lowe's that will do that nicely! I plan to group all my containers together in one area that ought to be easy to deal with too.

Mom is in recovery.

They did a lumpectomy. Her lymph nodes are cancerous, so she will have to do chemo and radiation. :( They are keeping her overnight and she'll go home tomorrow. My aunt said they told Mom she can drive in 3 or 4 days, so she won't have too much downtime at all.
Her D&C went OK, they removed some polyps that will be sent for biopsy.

Diva Girl told me Mom said I need to look at a ticket for her to come home with me on Monday. :scared1: Excuse me? I got my ticket on a DING! for $41. Now a ticket on that flight is $147. I am NOT booking that for her! She would be coming down here to "help" my other sister with her DDs. OK, well then, my sister who was stupid enough to have 2 babies she can't take care of needs to foot the bill for the plane ticket, not ME.

I looked at fares, and if Diva Girl waits until July 1 to come down and then goes home July 22 her round trip would be $128. I told her since it is NOT an emergency that I am NOT booking her on my flight. We'll see what SW offers come out tomorrow for their anniversary. I would consider booking the $128 for her and then watching for DINGs. But I am not going to book it today. I don't appreciate being told to buy her a ticket 6 days before the flight. I also think it is silly for her to come down here during the time Mom won't be in treatment. On the other hand, I guess it is better for her to be home when Mom starts chemo in case something goes wrong.

Maybe you could hang your baskets at Tammi's house while your gone :rolleyes1

ETA: I see that Tammi offered :thumbsup2

It might not be such a bad idea. Your mother would have much less stress if Diva Girl was not her responsiblity for a while. Stress would impede her recovery. I'm glad that she is in recovery now.

The kids shirts are drying. I need to wait 2 more hours before I can use the iron to set the paint. I have no idea what they will end up looking like, but I did let them do it themselves (except Colby who wasn't interested). I also have a Mickey Head tie dye soaking for my PITA brother who refuses to wear the one I made him before since it was sleeveless. He has no idea how hot it will be in Florida in July. The shirt that my SIL provided is a very heavy weight cotton so it should be plenty warm:teeth:

Ditto what Deb said. :grouphug:

I am glad your mom is in recovery and they now know what they are dealing with and I gotta agree that maybe now is a good time for the Diva to come. Could it be that you didn't like your little sister telling you what to do that set you off?

I just came in from weeding outside for about an hour. Luckily most of it was in the shade. Plus I pruned a lot of the tree that get the spindly branches growing out from the bottomof the trunk. You're probably not supposed to do that but I can't stand them. I also went around the entire fence and pruned all the ivy-type stuff that is growing up the wires. Now I'm cooling off. Oh, by the way, day 2 into summer vacation and my kids have both wanted to go to daycare. I kept them enrolled throughout the summer even though I'm off, because for the school-agers they do various field trips, plus there is a pool there too. Tomorrow Nicholas' group goes on a trip to Belmont http://www.umw.edu/gari_melchers/ home of American painter Gari Melchers, and then on Thursday they both get to go to Funland and play putt-putt, as well as play in the arcade. So I've been taking them around 10 and picking them up at 3, after their swim time. Oh well, it gives them something to do and they can play with their friends. Maybe on Friday they will want to stay home with me. :(
