DDA Chapter 5

Elizabeth you made an honest mistake, retract your bid. There is no reason to pay for something that you cannot use & I would not pay for it & let the seller keep it.

Good luck with your decision
Yes, you are being too hard on yourself.

The eBay retraction rules do not allow retractions for bids made by idiots. It was a legitimate bid, and eBay will know that if they investigate it. Retracting it is a violation of eBay policy unless the seller agrees to it.
Ok, so you can retract your bid and be banned from Evilbay

OR

you can let it stand, pay for something that you will never use, and be banned from Evilbay by DS.....

I go with option A.

Elizabeth,
You can always resell the item on Ebay and recoup at least some of the money.

Hey DDA....I know I'm never around anymore but I wanted to share an idea with all of you.

Set your alarms for noon and each day and pray for the war in Iraq to end, pray for your family and friends and for those in need.

I saw a guy on TV that had his watch alarm set for noon so each day he would pray for the war to end. I thought it would be cool if everyone did this and each day at noon there will be hundreds, maybe thousands of people praying for the same thing at once...wouldn't that be awesome?

Pass this on to everyone you know!

We are not set up to sell on eBay. The fees are so high that it wouldn't be worth the hassle of listing it, selling it, waiting for payment and then shipping it (it is very fragile). I would only recover about a quarter of what it is costing me IF I could sell it for a very high price. I could recover about an eighth of the cost by telling him to keep it so I don't have to pay the shipping!

Oh, and by the way, I just want everyone to know that my DH is PERFECT and he has NEVER, EVER, in his entire life on this earth, NEVER made a mistake. :worship: He is 100% infallible. And I am an idiot.

If it wasn't against city ordinance I would make a sign that says "I am a GIGANTIC idiot. Please help me pay for my eBay mistake." and go stand on the street corner with it. But of course the cops would come ticket me because there is a "no panhandling" law. And they would probably ticket me before I had a chance to make enough to pay for the lens, let alone the lens and a ticket.

Juts checking in and saying hello! SO glad tomorrow is friday!!!

im headed to my friend's birthday dinner (weve been friends since 6th grade)
im sure ill be back later!

have a great night guys!

DS got a 100% on his Greece project.
It is showing as counting for 3 separate grades, but DS said she told them it counts for SIX! I'm thinking those kids who turned in nothing are sorry now!

DH and I are not speaking to each other. I hope you guys are going to be around tonight so I am not lonely.

I'm sorry you lost those precious pictures. I always try to burn mine to disc, and at least 2 of those, just in case!

That's the wierd thing. They were burned to disc along with at least 5 other folders. It was all done in one burn session and 5 folders are readable and the other 4 aren't. Phil even double checked them but only on his computer (the now dead one) so evidently they were all readable on his computer, but aren't on the others. :confused3 I'm going to make an extra disc copy to store at Kristi's house as well.

I'll be around some. :grouphug: Phil wasn't speaking to me one day not long ago over an accidental purchase that I made. If it makes you feel any better, it was over a $6 prescription that I shouldn't have picked up. Yes, $6 and he didn't talk to me much the rest of the night. :sad2: I hope you get some better news from the seller soon. You're being honest with him and following EvilBay policy so hopefully he'll recognize that and cut you a break. Good luck.

Well, if DH follows Phil's lead we may be divorced soon! I will lose close to $100 in this deal if anybody bids against me and makes my bid go up. I don't know if I should be happy that I can't find ANY other auctions where this particular lens sold for more than $62 (so maybe the bidding won't go higher) or depressed that it is worth FAR less than that so I would never be able to sell it for more than it will cost me if I did try to resell it somewhere.

DH said earlier that there is some kind of converter that will make this lens work BUT I just saw a converter and it is $200!:scared1: Hmm. Do I really want to take a $100 mistake and spend another $200 to fix it?

Hello all! It's been a busy day around here for not getting much done. We had MOPS this morning and then had to run a few errands. I ended up falling asleep on the couch for the better part of 2 hours probably (oh, so that's where my day went) and then it was time to pick up Rachel and Phil then run a couple of more errands.

Glynis - Hope Katie made it through the day and did an excellant job on her story! (Which I just know was wonderful in itself.)

Debbie - So sorry about the unnecessary early morning. :(

Deb - Hope work goes better tonight! You deserve it after the long day you've had. Way to go on skipping the pizza and bars!

Karen - I love the garden angel. So cute!

Alicia - So good to see you!!

Jen - Have fun tonight.

Terry - Glad you guys got your Magic Meet tickets! I sooo wish that I could go sometime. I'm happy with MouseFest this year though.

Hi! I'm Sally and I'm a DisneyHolic............................. I eat, sleep, drink and dress Disney.................

I've been reading the thread trying to figure out what everyone is conversing about. I picked up on this. Is the lens a screw mount? And the camera isn't? You can get the converter for just a few bucks. I used to have one on my old camera. It's a ring that fits into the camera to make the conversion. Assuming we are talking about the same thing.

Most camera stores will also take used cameras for trade in. That is how I upgraded my camera. I can't remember how "fair" the deal was, but it was better then letting the camera sit around while I paid full price for the camera.

Ask the seller if they would cancel the sale. It sure couldn't hurt to ask. But sometimes you have to live and learn.

BTW........ aren't all men PERFECT!!

Guess I had better start dinner. Catch you all in a little while.

Hi Sally!! Welcome to the thread. I hope you'll hang with us more! Jump in where you want to and we'll be happy to have a new member of the family.

And BTW....I'm Tia and I'm a DisneyHolic, raising a 5yo DD DisneyHolic. Now if we could only bring DH over to the Disney-side.... ;)

Thank you Tia. I have no kids. But I made my 4yo neice a DisneyHolic also. She is now 18 and trying for an internship at Disney. She's just waiting to hear from her interview. I have also made another neice a Disneyholic, she is 7 now, and being Disney with me since she was 3. Her little brother,I'm working on. I made flash cards with the Disney characters on it and we practice who they are. He's 3. I also have a neice 1 1/2. I'm teaching her the characters. I think she needs a set of flash cards! :rotfl:

I'm on the Disboutique thread. I even sew Disney. DN MUST have Disney outfits for our vacations!! I'm working on Pink Cinderella (like the mice helped make) dress for dinner with Lady Tremaine for starters.

I personally see nothing wrong with this. So why do my sisters say I need a 12 step program? :confused3

He seems like Phil too though in that he gets really grumpy about something, sulks and gives the silent treatment, then eventually gives it up and moves on. Hopefully this will pass quickly for you and that Sally is more right with her "few bucks" about the converter.

Hi, Sally! Welcome to the DDA! :goodvibes Just jump in and you'll catch on. That's how I ended up here 17 months ago.;) We had a monster thread that they locked because of length, so now we are just posting in blocks of 250 pages.

My husband won a Sony Alpha 100 dSLR camera at work. He wants a 70-210mm Minolta lens for it. The lens HAS TO be auto-focus. Because I am an enormous idiot I put a bid in on a manual focus lens. The AF lens is selling on eBay for about $200, so I put in what I thought was a pretty LOW bid only to find out I am bidding on the wrong thing. The Sigma tele-converter for Sony is $200.

I did e-mail the seller and explain that I have to have to AF lens and I would appreciate it if he would cancel my bid. But really, why would he cancel it when he stands to make a lot more money from my mistake than from somebody who actually WANTS that lens?

So we won't have a whole camera to get rid of, only a lens that is in very low demand.

Maybe I should see if I can auction off my PERFECT DH. Somebody MUST need one.

I'm sorry you are going through this Elizabeth. I know you are tired of hearing it, but to save your sanity, your money, and your relationship, RETRACT!!!!

Congrats to you and DS on a job well done!

The problem lies in the motor being inside the lens of the AF, and NOT in the manual focus. And I am not a camera person, but I think that's the issue.

I don't know what your sisters' problems are! All sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I'd love to see the Pink Cinderella when you finish. Sounds perfect for the Park Fare dinner!! I love the designs on the Boutique thread, but my DD is sooo not a frilly, girly girl. She likes to wear a Princess dress to the parks on occassion, but changes back to shorts and tees within a couple of hours. I don't get a chance to visit there often, are there many unfrilled designs I could come and check out? For now we stick with t-shirts and DD wears them constantly. Right now she asks daily how much longer until our next trip (274 days :faint: ) and talks constantly about all of the things she wants to show Daddy on his first trip with us.
