I have a question... does anyone have a GORGEOUS picture of the Polynesian??

Thank you. I knew what packets I needed but didn't know what to do with them. It is in the crock pot and ready to go. Since I got it started late, do you think I can put it on high for an hour or two later in the day to speed the process? I'd like to eat by 6pm and this says 6-8 hours.

I don't. What are you planning to do with it? Are you going to hang it some place? I'm trying to get pictures of our favorite things at Disney up in our breezeway. That is our favorite room in the house. First the sunshine yellow walls make it inviting but all the Disney pictures and posters make it even nicer!

I do that all the time!!

Thanks, you guys! I needed one for my desktop and couldn't find exactly what I wanted here on the DIS or tikiman or anywhere I Googled. One of these might work better than what I have! :goodvibes

One of my obstacles is that Bill doesn't know how to swim if you can believe that! So that limits some of the choices...

heck we did the Breathless last time we were at WDW...and he was terrified that he was going to fall off the boat and die...granted, we are friends with the driver of that boat...so he was really going hard to impress the kids....so it was a tad scary

That would throw a monkey wrench into the situation, so how does the barking gadget work, the dog next door to us starts barking when we open our back door.

MASSIVE TORNADOES about 2 miles North of us with major winds, damage, and fatalities. Our County isn't big and a small population. This is going to greatly impact our lives. I am praying so hard for our friends who live that direction. This is scary. It's been on the ground for almost an hour and still going strong. OMG, this is just horrible. More are developing, they are reporting tornadoes all over our area, and now some are headed our way. Please pray for Forsyth County, GA.

Hi Terry!!

I am really nervous about this cruise...having never done one before...I feel like I have no clue what I am doing...especially excursion wise. We did just get our passports in the mail...so I was relieved over that. Do you know what excursions you guys are planning on?

At the moment just the parasailing. Not sure what else I would be in for.

Still in the planning stages.

Here's a couple of pics of the newest addition...Bill's son had their first baby....he is very cute. They are having a tough time adjusting......he is not sleeping much at all. I don't think they anticipated how hard the first few weeks can be.

all! Not much going on around here today. Tomorrow is the first day of spring break so Rachel is gone for the night. Plus, Mom's on vacation for the week starting Sun so we'll all be around. I think we're taking the kids to see Horton tomorrow. Then on Wed we have 8 (yes, 8!, we're a little crazy sometimes) people coming to stay through Sunday. 2 aunts and 6 cousins, plus a few more on Saturday for dinner. I think we'll do Easter dinner and egg hunting with all of the cousins on Saturday.

How was Horton?!

Jennifer (bear) -- beautiful pictures! :goodvibes

Tonight Eric and I found out that his BIL very possibly has testicular cancer. Apparently he's had something that he ignored for a while and my SIL finally forced him to the doctor's this past week. His Commanding Officer accompanied him as SIL was afraid he'd skip out on the appointment. BIL is not the type to go to the doctor's at all. I hope and pray that it's not as bad as they fear but I don't think that's the case. So if you all have any spare prayers and for him I'd appreciate it.

Oh no! :( I will keep your/his whole family in my prayers!

This is so cute... although I can't believe Olivia is in shorts!

No kidding! It's been so cold and dreary here lately!

Congrats to both you and Chris, Deb!

(Bob and I will celebrate the 40th anniversary of our first date in May!!)

 Happy 1st Date Anniversary, Chris and Deb! :)

We have a hard time nailing down a date for our first date, because we really didn't have one.... I REFUSED to date Kyle for a long time, until one day we realized we were sort of just together. We like to celebrate the first time we hung out "not dating", because we were pretty much together 24/7 after that point. :rotfl:

For those of you heading to the World soon you might enjoy seeing the new arrivals:

LAKE BUENA VISTA , Fla. , March 13, 2008 -- Disney's animal care team has been busy over the past two weeks with the births of two new bundles of joy -- a female baby giraffe named Makena and a male baby zebra named Kidani.

Born on March 8, Kidani is the first Hartmann's Mountain Zebra born at Walt Disney World Resort. The Hartmann's Mountain Zebra is an endangered species native to Angola, Namibia and South Africa. Kidani was bred through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Population Management Plan, which is a consortium of zoos and wildlife parks working together to conserve and breed animals.

Kidani was named for the new expansion of Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, which will be named Kidani Village. The zebra currently weighs approximately 65 pounds and stands three and a half feet tall. Kidani's been known to kick up his heels and run around the yard, with his watchful mother Kari, nearby. As an adult male, Kidani could reach 800 pounds, and stand five feet tall.

Makena, which means "Happy One" in Swahili is the female giraffe born on Leap Day, February 29. At birth, she weighed 118 pounds and stood five feet, six inches tall. Makena was standing just one-and-a-half hours after birth and started nursing shortly after. Makena is the first calf for her mother, four-year-old Malaika, who was born at Disney's Animal Kingdom. When Makena grows up, she could be as tall as 15 feet. She is the eighth giraffe born at Disney since Disney's Animal Kingdom opened in 1998.

Both mothers and babies are doing well and are expected to rejoin their herds on the savannah at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge in the coming weeks.

Aww, how sweet! Our Zoo Babies event is coming up fairly soon... hopefully I'll be allowed going to that, it's the closest I'll get! We're right about a year away from our next trip..... *sigh*

Well, as sloooooowwww as it's going, I have finally reached mini goal number 2. I have had to do a little shopping for work pants, I put on my old ones this afternoon just to see how they fit now, they a waaaay to big now. So now it's on to number 3 which is a big one, when I make this goal I will weigh what I did when I had surgery in 1992, but even that is a long way from where I need to be. I'm off next week so if you have a little extra PD dto send this way I could use it, the days that I don't work are the hardest to stay on track, I hope to get some serious cleaning done, among doctor's visits, going to Wrestling and of course dying Easter Eggs with Brandon.

Congratulations! :yay:

I guess her question was "which will attract to static electricity?" and the hypothesis was "I think xxx will attract." Beats me.

And a 3rd place winner in another classroom was survey on 2 brands of popcorn. She popped Jollytime and Ka-Pop, fed them to people and noted the results. "I think more people will like Ka-Pop."

I didn't have much to say on the Science Fair chats (except that I do think Nicholas' looked great!) ... but the popcorn survey?! That is hysterical. She should have saved it for a Marketing class a bit down the road! ;)

I can't wait to hear what you thought of the cruise! It is on my list to try sometime. I do hope when the time comes I can talk Gary into going with us.

I have been wearing the same bathing suit for a couple of years now. I do need a new one, but that is something I do not care to do. So for now I will keep wearing the same one

I keep thinking I need to start tanning a little for the May trip. The last couple of years though I have a hard time staying in the tanning bed any longer than 10 minutes. Don't laugh but I start having panic attacks. Once my heart was racing so fast, I had to get out of the bed & I just sat on a chair till the timer went offHopefully it will warm up a little & I can just go out into my own back yard.

Oh, how I miss tanning. :guilty: I don't get claustrophobic at all, and couldn't be more relaxed than when lying in a tanning bed. I swear, I miss it not for the color but for the relaxation, "sunshine" , etc. I think it's addicting, but I've sworn it off for health purposes. Several times ;)

So my lovely 8 year old DD was missing for a bit this evening.

Her best friend called and asked if Emma could spend the night. Yes. Eric dropped her off at friend's house, friend lives next door to Eric's parents around 4:30pm.

At about 7pm friend's sister called her wanting to know if I knew where Emma and friend are. No, I don't and Emma hadn't called. Did you check at my in-laws? Yes, no one there. What about the girl who lives next to them on the other side. Not there either.

OK, my heart is in my throat but I am also getting angry. Is that normal?!? I felt she was fine but of course was a tad worried. Eric and I try to get in touch with his dad. No answer at home or cell phone. Mom is at work. Eric heads over there to see if he can find them. About 5 minutes later, Eric's dad pulls into the driveway with the 2 girls.

Apparently Emma and her friend told the parents they were going to take in-laws dog for a walk. They did that then convinced FIL to take them to the park and for ice cream. He asked them to go make sure it was ok and they left, went next door and came back and said it was fine! Yeah, right:rolleyes: So he unknowingly took them to the park and to get ice cream then stopped for a pizza. They hadn't eaten dinner yet! Good golly!! She is only 8, I thought I'd a little more time before this all started. Eric let her stay over there, why I haven't figured that one out yet. But Emma is safe and sound.

Oh my goodness! I'm glad it ended up harmless (although maybe still quite frustrating!) .... I'm sure I would have been panicked to receive a call like that!

It's contagious then! I can't wait to get outside for a walk this morning!!

Cut it out, you two! :rotfl:

Earlier this week I happened to check the Delta site and our flight itinerary for the September/October trip. Imagine my surprise (and horror!) to discover that our 12:30 flight hand been canceled and we were rescheduled for one that leaves Richmond at 3:30 instead. I had booked my flight with SkyMiles and Bob's with cash. There would have been almost no reason to go to WDW that day at all, since this is a somewhat abbreviated trip.

So, armed with great info from our resident AAA travel agent I called the SkyMiles people on Friday morning. Not only was Ms. Klein understanding, but she told me that since they had changed the schedule I could have any flight I wanted, including ones that were not previously available with the number of SkyMiles I had to work with!

So, we are now scheduled to leave Richmond at 7:15 in the morning and it is a nonstop flight that will allow us practically a half day more than what we had before.

I realized that this now means we will have to eat another meal at WDW.........................................

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh, I'm glad it worked out! I have had that happen once before, where we ended up on a better flight when the schedule changed. It doesn't always though, so it's SO frustrating until you reach that outcome! Hooray for an extra half day + at WDW!

Since Kristin heads back to school tomorrow :sad1: we have grocery shopping to do today. She also needs a few more basic wardrobe additions for the "real world" of interviews and auditions. So, I suppose we will be forced to shop yet again... :rotfl2:

Then, a group of friends (including our college kids home on spring break) are headed to a decent German restaurant for dinner tonight.

Have a great evening!

Hello, DDA!

It's been a very strange week. I have started to post several times, but I keep erasing it. The short story is that my co-teacher's father died as the result of a work accident. I am taking it much harder than I think I should be. He was only 58 years old.

I am getting ready to head out to Albany with dd for the weekend for a synchronized swim meet. The "boys" will be on their own.

I have been reading along and thinking of the  and :yay: and pixiedust: along the way.

I made a couple of designs yesterday which helped keep me distracted.

"See" you all Monday. Have a great weekend, DDA!

How scary. I hate tornadoes! I hope it settles down quickly, and everyone you know stays safe :guilty: :grouphug:

This device has two settings, ultrasonic and audible. When set to ultrasonic it will NOT be heard by humans. Humans can hear the audible setting loud and clear. Both settings are effective at deterring dogs from barking. When a dog barks within 50 to 60 feet of this device it will respond by blasting the offending dog with a strong ultrasonic blast of 130 dB. This blast can be effective for over 100 ft if placed in a line of sight to the dog and there is little or no foliage to buffer the sound waves. This level of sound is about the noise level as if a fire truck were to pass by you as you stood preparing to cross a street. This device can be set so humans cannot hear it. The sound is emitted for few seconds past the time the barking stops, and then resets itself waiting for the next bark. It can be set to allow 1,2,3 or 4 barks before it is set off. This allow a dog to bark a time or two before it is blasted.

That would throw a monkey wrench into the situation, so how does the barking gadget work, the dog next door to us starts barking when we open our back door.

Keep safe Denise....been thinking of you all day:hug:

Yea for the earlier flight! I am sure you both can think of another place to eat :thumbsup2

Denise I just caught a little bit of the news & see Atlanta was hit again. Prayers & hugs for everyone!

Hi, everyone. The damage is VERY bad and quite extensive. 28 people hurt, some buildings have collapsed, all of downtown Atlanta is closed, they are playing the rest of the SEC basketball tournament at Georgia Tech with no fans. We are supposed to get another round of very severe weather early this afternoon with more tornadoes. It is very eerie to watch. We had tickets to the game last night but didn't go.
