DDA Chapter 4

I don't know if Amy is still on here or not, but I am curious about the breakfast menu at your house this morning. I am wondering if it included lots of sugar? I think it would be a good way to get Jennifer used to mayhem and chaos! ;)

snow day!!!!

I cant sleep but im just thrilled its a 3 day weekend!

We got one too!! And so far 2 of the 3 boys won't be here:cool1:

Good morning. :)

We didn't get nearly the weather they predicted, which is usually the case here. But schools around the area are all closed, so I've decided that I don't need to be out on the roads either, and decided to stay home.

I hope everyone else hasn't been affected too badly.

We just got the ice too. Well there is a dusting of the white stuff on the ground but that's it.

Karen, I hope the Dr. can help Shocker! :wizard:

Robyn, :wizard:  I am sorry things are so stressful! I don't think I could handle kids in my house every day. I hope you are able to figure out another solution that works for your family!!
How sad for your great aunt & uncle! :guilty:

Ditto!

All of the preschools here close if the elementaries are delayed. :wizard: Here's hoping for a snow day for you!!

Princess and I have no plans today. It is chilly out there so whatever we do will be inside! Have a great day, all! It is FRIDAY!!! (And I only have to work 2 days next week! )

Sadly, it's not the kids. Well 90% is not the kids. It's the family- (I can't just say parents as Eric works with the boys' grandmother) She is the one who has made some remarks to him that are just really unacceptable. It's a long twisty story.

I am delighted that it made you smile, Robyn. Sounds like maybe you needed to. Take care of yourself...

Thanks Elin.

Robyn - I'm very sorry to hear about your aunt and uncle. Is there a possibility that they could live in a nursing home or assisted living center together?

Thanks. Since she is now partially paralyzed she cannot be in an assisted living facility. She needs the nursing home care. I don't know at this point what their son is considering for my uncle.

Karen -- I'm so sorry -- sending prayers that they get a true diagnosis.

I hope you find a solution for your income. I'm going through burn-out with my job (which cycles around continuously since I've been here 20 years) and wishing I didn't have to work so many hours. There's simply nothing I can do about it now, as the tuition for the boys won't allow flexibility. Andrew and Jake's ability to function well with their learning problems is what keeps me going, but I don't have to always like how we manage the financial part of affording the education.

PD to your great Aunt and Uncle. That's a tough situation. It's amazing they lived at home together for that long. What a wonderful love story.

Congrats -- have fun!

Enjoy your day at home. :)

Well, the house wasn't too bad when I got home yesterday. They didn't make as much progress as I would have liked on cleaning out the toy room, but maybe they will today. I have conferences for both of them in an hour or so. Jake can't be at his, and Andrew is required to attend his. I'll meet Randy and Andrew at the school.

We were going to go to the Johnson hill country house in San Saba this weekend. (Tiny house built by Randy and his siblings many years ago on family land which is out in the middle of nowhere) but Andrew's baseball practice was moved to Saturday because of bad weather yesterday, so hopefully I'll get a lot more done de-cluttering this weekend. Have a good day everyone!

Sending PD to all those who need it!

Hope the conferences go well! Good luck on the de-cluttering.

They truly are the loves of each others life. They are very cute together. About 2 years ago they celebrated NY's Eve by holding onto the "fridigaire" and dancing with one another.

Karen sorry to hear about Shocker

Robyn I hope you are able to figure out some alternative to the daycare. Sounds like it has been getting to you lately  Sorry to hear about your Aunt

Jen & Tammi, yea for a snow day! We did get snow yesterday & the plows are out now, but we do have school :thumbsup2

Bernadette that is a tough situation with your daughter. I agree with Elizabeth, hopefully she will open up & talk to you about it :wizard:

Terry glad all went well at the Dr. I hate to admit this but I have never experienced the "mash & bash". I know I need to make the appointment, I just always forget about it.

I know I have missed a few, & :wizard: to all!

Thank you Janet. Make that appointment! :flower3:

:wizard: :wizard: for your great aunt and uncle. I hope that they can find some peace in the situation.

More :wizard: for you and finding something work-wise that fits. :grouphug:

Thank you. Somewhere out there is the perfect job for me.

Good morning, DDA!

Well, it looks like we may have avoided the 2nd wave of the storm. The had changed it to more snow than ice today and it's still not doing much of that. At least the roads are pretty clear finally. The kids are still off of school so that's good. With clear roads, I think I'll still see about picking up Danae for the girls to play. I know that they were both really looking forward to it and she really needs a break.

Gotta run Phil to work. See ya.

Hope Terra enjoys her playdate!

Picking up the van is what concerns me not the driving on Sunday. Our weather is supposed to improve tomorrow, but I will be in Northern Virginia all day long judging the music Festival we have been preparing for. I can't pick up the van tomorrow, it has to be today. So... let's hope for a small window of temps above freezing!

Drive safe when you go out. Eric took our van into work today as his work van is unsafe on the roads.

Oh, how rude! :sad2:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I cannot wait to find out! My guess is it is a girl.

Good luck getting the van today, Elin!

If anyone else has to go out, be careful and stay warm!

Robyn, here's a big  for you!

Marci, I hope conferences go well!

Vicki, hang in there!

Bernadette, I hope you can work out the picture situation. I know I was a very curious 9-year-old (my mom's a nurse so lots of medical books lying around, etc.).

Good morning to all! :wave2: Have a good Friday!

Thanks Amy. And you have absolutely every right to complain/vent to us. I am glad to hear that Matty is doing well with the weaning. And like Bernadette, Deb and Anne Marie said 2 to 3 is "easy peasy lemon squeezie" The 3rd one is much much different than the 2nd one.

You know, as I was formulating that post, I swear it went through my head to clarify that I meant "at work". It was obviously a fleeting thought.

:rotfl:

It's A Snow Day!!:cool1: :yay:

So I am off from work today. All offices are closed due to the weather. It was snowing already last night when I got home from work at 11:30pm. It is still snowing on top of the snow we are supposed to get freezing rain and sleet. So this puts a break to my many, many days working with no day off. I do have events on Saturday and Sunday to go to, at least I get a day off in there. Well Saturday's may or may not happen depending if the church clears the lots and sidewalks.

I want no one falling on the ice and splitting their head open like last weekend.:scared1: :headache: :scared:

I think I am heading back to bed for a nap.

Prayers, :wizard: :grouphug: to all of you whether you are posting or not

Enjoy it!!

Sounds like a brilliant plan!!

Well I am off for a bit. I need to get my morning chores out of the way and get Lucy her breakfast. Emma and Molly are playing in the playroom. I have 1 of the 3 boys and he is quite content to watch Handy Manny right now. I best take advantage of it while I can! I think that I will start on a trip report today as well. If I wait much longer I'll forget:rolleyes:

It's A Snow Day!!:cool1: :yay:

:cool1:  :dance3: Yeah for you!!! You so deserve a day off. I hope that you get to enjoy some of the "off" part and do at least a little something for yourself - movie, scrapbook pages, trip dreaming...anything.

Robyn,
Sorry this are crazy for you right now.

What a love story...its terrible that they have to be separated now. I would want to be with my husband. I am so sorry.

It' snowing here. It's a very pretty snow & I am sure my guys will want to go out & play in a little while. My kids have off from school this whole week so I do not have to drive anywhere thank goodness. I like snow when I don't have to drive in it.

Karen,
:wizard: for Shocker!

Amy,
Good luck today!

Jennifer,
Be careful out today!

Elin,
Hope you get good weather!

Tammi,
Come have lunch with me!

Good Morning DDA

We got an inch or two of snow. Right now it is sleeting  No driving today for me!!! Still waiting for the snow plow to come thru our neighborhood. That could take awhile.

Our one neighbor is so cute. For years, he has come around and helped plow out our driveways. He is just getting started with his and he finally after all these years, has a real nice plastic canopy over the plow :lmao:

Everyone stay safe and warm today.

Amy, I predict a princess:

Robyn - One of the phrases that circulates through the nanny community is "Nannies don't quit because of the kids, they quit because of the parents." A lot of the time parents make our jobs MUCH harder, and sometimes it just isn't worth it anymore. I really hope you and Eric can sit down and figure something out!

DH just called and said there is a baby shower for his immediate supervisor today! He was off the past 2 days and OBVIOUSLY he missed something. He said back at Christmas that she and her partner were planning to adopt a baby, so it appears that they have found one! I get mad at him because he won't ever ask her anything about her personal life. I see it as being interested and caring, he sees it as being inappropriate and nosey. So anyway, I want to know ALL about the baby and I am sure he won't ask. I even told him I would be more than happy to print out a little certificate for a few hours of babysitting to give to them. The thing is, he doesn't even know what area they live in or if they have family in town to help with the baby! And he would NEVER go down the path of asking how accepting their families are and so forth. Hopefully he will get over being so bull-headed about talking to her. I don't think she would feel he was intruding, I think she might appreciate him asking!

Sounds like lots of snow for the DDA today! Everybody enjoy your days off and be safe if you go out!

Amy - Good luck this afternoon! Perhaps Matty & Alyssa would enjoy a nice big latte before you head to your appointment. Or some tasty Mountain Dew.:rolleyes1

Elin - Good luck with the truck! :wizard:

Janet - I have had the "smash & bash" twice now. I don't think it is that bad. Go call and make an appt!!

Marci - I hope the conferences go well! I'm sure they will! :goodvibes
Sorry you are feeling burned out at work! Hang in there!

Good luck with the U/S today Amy. Can't wait to hear!

Thank you! :goodvibes

You know, as I was formulating that post, I swear it went through my head to clarify that I meant "at work". It was obviously a fleeting thought.

That's called pregnancy brain. You were supposed to start using that excuse 20 weeks ago. :teeth:

I hope your house is getting back to normal, health-wise, Amy! How is Kevin today?

After sleeping most of the day yesterday, he seems much better this morning. I was happy his supervisor encouraged him to take today off. Of course, I was saying the same thing, but apparently supervisors have more influence than wives. ;)

We all went outside for a bit to play in the snow, shovel, and find the cars. I'll try to post some pictures later.

Oh, and his new computer just got delivered, so I'm sure he's going to have plenty of energy to play with that!

I don't know if Amy is still on here or not, but I am curious about the breakfast menu at your house this morning. I am wondering if it included lots of sugar? I think it would be a good way to get Jennifer used to mayhem and chaos! ;)

:rotfl:

Actually, if all goes well, Jennifer should have the easiest babysitting gig ever...my appointment is at naptime!

Thanks. :goodvibes #3 better be easier than #2 or any thoughts of "evening things out" will be thrown out the window! :rotfl:

Amy,
Good luck today!

Thank you! :goodvibes

You all are mean! :lmao:

Thanks for luck! :goodvibes I think I might drink a nice Coke before my appointment to jolt the baby a little. ;)

You guys crack me up! As Amy mentioned, supposedly her children will be sleeping when I'm there. I just don't want Kevin around if he's still sick! ;)

Besides... you forget that I work with about 25 kids a day, many of which have behavioral diagnoses. I can handle two ;)

Thank you! :goodvibes

That's called pregnancy brain. You were supposed to start using that excuse 20 weeks ago. :teeth:

Oh, trust me. I always thought it was just an excuse, but I'm thinking it's more medical than I ever gave you credit for. When I called to ask a question about our car a few weeks ago, I couldn't remember my social security number.... for 2 days! :faint:

This from the girl who learned every family members SSNs at age 8, just for fun. I could give the lady on the other end of the phone my moms, my dads, my husbands or my sisters, but couldn't remember mine if my life depended on it! :rotfl:

Can I just tell you all how much more I enjoy my job when it's only for about 4 hours a day, in jeans, in a fairly dark (and very quiet, aside from my music) office?! I'm almost enjoying myself!

Alright this is completeley random but i need some help. My cousin in colorado is giving her sister a wedding shower this weekend and they are doing some kind of game..

they are coming up with questions on different topcis..the one that we are all having trouble with is famous marias.....i googled and found nothing! any ideas?

Maria Sharapova (tennis)
Maria Shriver (journalist)
Maria Bello (actress)
Maria Menouonos (acress? TV presenter? something like that)

That's a tricky one! I wonder if our baby name book has more... I'll check when I get home if I remember.

ETA: If you get stuck, you could maybe try for Maries as well.. I can think of some of those. I am sure they would prefer to stick to Maria, it would just depend on how many names you needed. Good luck!
