DDA Chapter 4

Well, Terra is asking to use the computer so I guess I'm going to go get some stuff done around the house. There is laundry begging to be done and I've got to get the dishwasher emptied so that I can finish cleaning up from yesterday. Happy Monday everyone!

Denise I hope you get some answers for John soon :wizard: Good luck with the codes, I hope you can use them!

Beth I have no advice, but it sure does sound like a lot of fun. Enjoy your planning!

Chanon I sent you an email!

Jen sorry to hear you are still running a fever. My plans for today, nothing lol I am doing some laundry & I called & made dental appointments for Gary & Garrett. Gary needs to get upper dentures, hopefully the ins. will cover most  But either way he needs them & I want his beautiful smile back

The wind is a howling outside & it is cold. So I am staying put & might just stay in my jammies today :thumbsup2

I think i may be going crazy...A couple of weeks ago, i bought nice resume paper and printed out 75 copies...I have NO idea where they are! I checked EVERYWHERE! I know that i printed them but not sure where i put them--i checked where all my other resume/teaching stuff is and no luck..guess im going out this week to buy more paper hahaha

Hello, DDA!

I have been trying to read along, but it seems like there just aren't enough hours in the day.

Denise, pixiedust: for John! I hope that you get some good answers very soon. You have had so much to deal with. I also hope that everything works out with the neighbors so that you don't have that added stress in your life.

pixiedust: for everyone else under the weather!

I am back to trying to plan a cross-country trip. I'm trying to figure out how to find hotels and know that they aren't dumps. I think I have a tentative route to CA, but I need to work on my route home. I think I'll have about a week in So. Cal. How many days should I use on Disneyland and what else shouldn't we miss? We definitely want to go to a beach while we are out there.

Hey, Cincinnati folks! I think we want to stop around there for our first night. It will be a long drive that day (9 hours), but I want to cover a lot of ground the first day, since we don't really need to see much between here and there. Any recommendations for hotels/activities?

Next will be a stop in St. Louis, but I think I want to drive some more that day, too, and make it to somewhere near Springfield, MO.

Another long day could get us in the vicinity of Amarillo, TX.

Then on to Las Cruces, NM area with a stop perhaps in Roswell, NM for a little sight seeing.

From there, I want to get to the Sonoran Desert Museum, but I'm not sure where to stay.

Finally, on to Anaheim.

What do you think? Too much driving each day? That would get us out there in a week, and I don't think we have much more time to add to that.

Oh well, I'd better stop dreamin and go clean for a while.

Have a great day, DDA!

It sounds like a wonderful trip! I will get back with you on sights/hotels!

Have a call in to my PCP about John. He saw her NP on Friday (the one who ordered all the blood tests). I explained what is happening and that I'm really worried. She's going to look at everything, talk to the NP, and then call me back.

Very weird, he could taste strawberry milk this am (1st thing in 4 weeks), but then it went away after a few seconds and he's tasted nothing else since. Thanks for the prayers and adding him to the prayer lists!

Oh, and thanks for the CODE! I have a call in to our TA to see if it helps or not.

I hope they can get back with you and see him, get some answers quickly!

Oh no! I hope you find them before you go out and buy more (or, um, then not at all if you DO go out to get more... that's always so frustrating! :rotfl:)

I got a notice today that our nursery bedding, etc finally shipped! We should see it tomorrow or Wednesday! :yay:

 Penny.

Never feel you have to keep up, just jump in wherever.

Hey there & thank you. I love reading this board but find it so hard to keep up with as everytime I come back to it there are 4 or 5 new pages :surfweb: and then I get behind and then I get lost :scared1: and then, I just give up.:rolleyes1
I am going to try harder this time though. LOL
Penny:hippie:

If your in St. Louis for a little bit, we'd love to meet you!

How much driving do you have planned per day?

As for Anaheim, I would definitely allow at least 3 days for DL if you can. One day at the beach...I would recommend going to Balboa if you are staying in the Anaheim area. Consider checking out Knotts in you have an extra day and the money for another admission. Also, what about going down to San Deigo Wild Animal Park for one of the days? Are you interested in Universal at all? If you are interested in several of those things, I would highly suggest checking out the SoCal City Pass. Right now the details are:

According to Mousesavers, if you order the CityPass through ARES travel you get a small discount. It's probably worth figuring out if that's a good deal for what you all would enjoy. If you don't want to do all of those extra things, then DL offers specials often where you get 5 days for the price of 3, etc. That would give you more come and go options to mix in with your other plans.

If you want to spend a day sightseeing, I'd consider going down to Hollywood Blvd area to see the Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theater, Griffith Park (Disney's Carolwood Barn is there as a museum), and some other "LA" type of places.

That's great information! Thanks!

We plan to stop for at least a little while in St. Louis and do some sightseeing. That is another of our long driving days, but I thought we'd break it up in the middle. The first two days are around 9 hours of driving, but after that, I'm trying to keep it to 5-6 hours. That's still a lot, but there isn't any way to do this trip in 3 or 3-1/2 weeks without long driving days.

Beth

Ok...If I'm here again in the next two hours, tell me to go CLEAN! We are trying to get rid of a lot of clutter around here. A lot of MESS!

Beth

I figure we will spend what we saved on a one day ticket to Blizzard Beach.

Check Maple Leaf for tickets before you buy them through Disney. It was cheaper for me to buy single day tickets through them than to get the AP discount at the BB gate!:scared1: That was right around the time they raised ticket prices - I think I might have gotten them for the old price, but worth checking! :thumbsup2

I heard a rumor that Disney Store has 25% off pins right now, which might explain why none of them are on clearance. Princess needs a nap, the housekeeper is coming, and I have to take Princess to the Dr. later so I am not sure when I will be able to look into this rumor. I have a 15% off coupon at home, so I want to bring that when I go.

I also realized my cell phone wasn't working!:headache: I called to have them check it because I figured adding DS's line somehow screwed mine up, although they were both working last week. Apparently they had system issues over the weekend - they told me to take the SIM card & battery out and then put it back. That fixed it. :confused3 I used my phone Saturday afternoon but not since then, so no telling how long it was out.

Beth - Sorry, I am no help with road trips. I am not a road trip kind of girl. I want to get on a plane, get where I am going, and get on with the vacation!:rotfl2:

Penny - Good to see you! I enjoyed your pics from your trip! :)

Im sure ill find them after i buy more tmororw--isnt that what always happens?! ?!

oooo do we get to see the nursery stuff when you get it?!?!

We don't have mattresses yet, so some of it can't really be put out. I'll show you all real pictures when it's all put together! :) I did post pictures of the furniture itself a while back on our website...

I can look for the link though to show you at least what's coming, if you want! :teeth:

Denise - you can find floor maps for all floors here: http://www.disneyzone.net/bcresort.htm

Looking at the map for the 2nd floor, I think we were somewhere in rooms 2575-2581. I'll have to check my file from that trip tonight for the room #, but it was definitely somewhere in there. When I booked, I asked for a courtyard view.

And yes, you're right about the orientation of Epcot/Crescent Lake/BWI to the map.
Lindsay, we just made our room requests with Special Needs. Asked for Courtyard View (on Crescent Lake side) 2nd floor with full balcony. Hopefully, we'll get it! Did you have 2 Queen beds? It looks like it would be a quiet room and a good location for us. Thanks again to you and Elin!

Will do, thanks.

I can't tell you how excited I am now. Isn't it funny how trips become more real once airfare is purchased. I called today and was able to change our studio to a 1br now that we know Bethany is going. They let me put 5 in it but there is only linens for 4. I think we can bring another towel. ;) I also requested Epcot view 5th floor. It would be so nice to watch Illuminations from our balcony. I'm really looking forward to this more relaxing vacation. :goodvibes

Ok, here is what we got. It wasn't my favorite by itself, so you have to know the whole story! :rotfl:

I always assumed I'd have a disney themed nursery, but I just don't like most of the stuff out. For me, as cute as a lot of it is, some of it is too cartoony, a lot of it looks too boy-ish (all the mickey sets available)... I find the Pooh stuff very cute, but I don't love Pooh more than any other character set enough to make him the focal point of the room! :rotfl:

So I was bummed. We thought about it a while, looked around for ideas, etc, and just wanted to incorporate Disney subtly, if we couldn't theme it really around it. Truthfully, that's more along the lines of my house anyway -- Disney stuff everywhere, but nothing too over-the-top (in my opinion anyway ;)).

So, we have always loved this David Doss series, and planned to use it in a beach house some day (haha). Instead, we figured the pails, etc are very appropriate for a child's room, so we started with the art. Backwards, I know :)

These 2 pictures, as well as 2 others from his series which I'll include in pictures whenever they get framed and hung

We figured we'd find "plain" sort of bedding (as in geometric, modern, etc but not themed per se) that matched.... and ended up with this set:

http://www.bananafishinc.com/prodpg.php?product_id=689

We have since found the most adorable galvanized metal pails for storage (at BRU) that match the coloring perfectly... I think it might actually come together nicely, even though I'm doing it myself! :rotfl:

We did buy the pink chenille blanket and pillow for the glider (not shown on the webiste for some reason), to make it a bit more girly. Our furniture is a dark cherry, too, so I think the set won't seem quite as bright.

Sheesh! I talk too much! :rotfl:

Jennifer I think the room is going to be adorable.

Will do, thanks.

I wish it was time to go NOW! DH and I are having a hard time with waiting more than 5 months. DS doesn't seem to be all that bothered by it. :confused3 I told him there are only 61 more school days (unless I counted wrong) because I thought he would be excited, but he really wasn't, which I found odd. He doesn't really enjoy school so I thought being that close to being finished would make him happy. Nope.

I haven't made any requests at all for our rooms. I figure we'll go where they put us. When we stay at Pop I have very specific room requests, but for AKL & BC we'll just see what they give us.
