DDA Chapter 4

Jennifer - You are going to have so much fun putting the nursery all together! :goodvibes
DS's room was all done in Paddington Bear playing sports. The bedding was light blue and white stripes. We had wall hangings of Paddington playing tennis, golf, and 2 others.
There was a classic Pooh set that I would have chosen if he had been a girl. It was white with pale blue flowers.

Thanks Tammi and Jennifer! I hope it does turn out! :goodvibes

Elizabeth, the Paddington bear room sounds so cute! With having to buy everything for two the first time around, we decided to keep the room pretty gender neutral, except for a few accents. The sets are fairly nice, so hopefully they hold up well and can be used if we have any more kids! It's just unbelievable to me how much stuff adds up for any baby, and the things you have to double make it downright scary! :faint: I wouldn't change it for the world..... I just have to try and block out the numbers from my head after they are paid for! :rotfl:

Well, at least you can use some things for both girls. You can kind of just buy one big girl wardrobe instead of needing 2 gender specific sets of things. If you were having B/G twins then you would REALLY need 2 of everything! And if you have a boy down the road you'll have to buy some additional things, but you won't have to start over completely so he'll be much more cost effective than these first 2! :rotfl2:

Yes, he will be! :rotfl: We're starting out with one of most things anyway, but obviously needed 2 cribs, 2 of some essentials (bounce seats, high chairs, etc). We got a lot of input from other twin moms on what we could get by with one of, or at least wait until we see if they are going to use certain things to justify buying two! Kyle is in a full-blown panic about the 150 diapers per week he read somewhere :rotfl: I can't help him with that one, but we are at least asking around for reviews first, since many things (ie stroller, etc) are so limited for two infants. It's been fun, when we're ignoring the practical side of things! :rolleyes1

Princess is not sleeping very peacefully. :guilty: And of course the housekeeper is back there running water and the idiots next door are HAMMERING today. I wonder if it would be rude of me to go ask them HOW LONG they intend to be doing construction on their house. It is quite disruptive. And it doesn't appear that completion is anywhere in sight because they just keep finding more stuff to bang on, saw through, etc..:headache:

Great. Now she is starting to cry and she has only been asleep for a little over an hour. :sad2:

Gotta run to a meeting. Thanks, ladies, for indulging me! :) I'll be on later, since Kyle is on call. Have a good afternoon!

FWIW, I would think 120 diapers per week might be more realistic. ;)

That's great information! Thanks!

We plan to stop for at least a little while in St. Louis and do some sightseeing. That is another of our long driving days, but I thought we'd break it up in the middle. The first two days are around 9 hours of driving, but after that, I'm trying to keep it to 5-6 hours. That's still a lot, but there isn't any way to do this trip in 3 or 3-1/2 weeks without long driving days.

Beth

I think that as long as you keep most days under 8 hours, you should be fine, especially with older kids. Plus, if you break it up some days like you are the St. Louis day that should help. Do you have one day along the way where you are doing little driving, mostly sightseeing? If you can build that in, it might help break things up even more.

Ok, here is what we got. It wasn't my favorite by itself, so you have to know the whole story! :rotfl:

I always assumed I'd have a disney themed nursery, but I just don't like most of the stuff out. For me, as cute as a lot of it is, some of it is too cartoony, a lot of it looks too boy-ish (all the mickey sets available)... I find the Pooh stuff very cute, but I don't love Pooh more than any other character set enough to make him the focal point of the room! :rotfl:

So I was bummed. We thought about it a while, looked around for ideas, etc, and just wanted to incorporate Disney subtly, if we couldn't theme it really around it. Truthfully, that's more along the lines of my house anyway -- Disney stuff everywhere, but nothing too over-the-top (in my opinion anyway ;)).

So, we have always loved this David Doss series, and planned to use it in a beach house some day (haha). Instead, we figured the pails, etc are very appropriate for a child's room, so we started with the art. Backwards, I know :)

These 2 pictures, as well as 2 others from his series which I'll include in pictures whenever they get framed and hung

We figured we'd find "plain" sort of bedding (as in geometric, modern, etc but not themed per se) that matched.... and ended up with this set:

We have since found the most adorable galvanized metal pails for storage (at BRU) that match the coloring perfectly... I think it might actually come together nicely, even though I'm doing it myself! :rotfl:

We did buy the pink chenille blanket and pillow for the glider (not shown on the webiste for some reason), to make it a bit more girly. Our furniture is a dark cherry, too, so I think the set won't seem quite as bright.

Sheesh! I talk too much! :rotfl:

I love those prints! The set that you picked out will look great with them, and I can't wait to see photos of the finished nursery.

I went with Snoopy for our first nursery (and then used it for the others as well). There wasn't much artwork out there at the time, so we had some greeting cards matted and framed.

Very cute! Since my set would be 17 years old now, I doubt I will find it out there.

EvilBay is a treasure trove of odd things. DS is 12, and I found a few of his set! I sold his at a garage sale several years ago.
I was looking for the Pooh one, too, but there are so many I gave up!:rotfl:

Yes, the days are mostly under 8 hours, and I want to split up the driving most of the time. The day that we get to the Sonoran Desert Museum we have less driving and more time to explore. My kids are pretty good in the car, though I know that day after day it can start to drag. Actually, I worry more about dh than the kids in some ways. ;)

I love it! The bedding is adorable and I love those prints. I think that it will come together very nicely. The beds look just like Terra's and I love how they looked with her green bedding (similar to the green in yours). I can't wait to see it all put together.

I did a quick search and didn't see it. Knowing me, there is still some of it tucked around here somewhere. :rotfl:

Me too! Except for having to drive 2-1/2 hours each way to Green Bay for Becky's consultation for the table test. The test is scheduled for next Wednesday. She will have to have 4 hours of bed rest at the hospital after the test.

Hey there & thank you. I love reading this board but find it so hard to keep up with as everytime I come back to it there are 4 or 5 new pages :surfweb: and then I get behind and then I get lost :scared1: and then, I just give up.:rolleyes1
I am going to try harder this time though. LOL
Penny:hippie:

Penny, all of us get behind at one time or another. When that happens, we just ask for an update from others so that we know the important stuff. There is always someone willing to give us the update. So, don't be a stranger! :surfweb:

Hi everyone,

Long time no see!:3dglasses

My cousins are now home with their parents. They were here Saturday, Sunday and this morning. As their parents were at the Daytona 500 and drove straight home after the race. My Mom took them to the dentist today and then home.

I have been to work and am home now. I came home with the intention of going out and enjoying the nice 60 degree weather. Instead it is now in the 40s and raining. :confused3  So I am inside instead, online shopping, well at least looking, or looking at tropical places to vacation to trying to convince myself it is spring or summer. I also have homework to finish. Doesn't that stuff ever stop??:confused3 :confused3

I have a busy week meetings Tuesday and Thursday night. Wednesday night I am going to the Dutch Apple Dinner theater as Mom won 4 tickets. Saturday and Sunday I have events.

I hope everyone is doing well. Feel better soon. Have a great day. Congratulations! Happy Anniversary, Birthday, Valentine's Day so on and so forth :wizard: :grouphug:

I might be back later, if I get things accomplished. Then again since I am a procrastinator and need the break I might be back again anyways.
