DDA Chapter 4

OK. Here's the scoop.
AP holders can book dining in conjunction with a room-only ressie BUT the room has to be on an AP discount OR be rack rate. On a rack rate room it has to be a NEW ressie, not a modification. You can't add it to a AAA or a Bounce Back discount. So, if I can get an AP discount on my pool view room I can add DDP. Which I will seriously consider. Even though it won't save us any money. Because I can't seem to stop thinking about it.:rolleyes1

Thanks for finding out the details Elizabeth. Now we just need to hope for AP rates for Aug. I might consider adding the DP then. When do you pay for the DP, is it added to your total due for the room? What about deposit, is it $200 or 1st nights stay?

Yes I could call :rotfl:

FWIW, I would think 120 diapers per week might be more realistic. ;)

That sounds nicer, but he was calculating the 10-12 wet diapers per day that they look for... it really does add up to 140-170 :faint: Hopefully some days we'll average out a bit less! ;)

I love those prints! The set that you picked out will look great with them, and I can't wait to see photos of the finished nursery.

I went with Snoopy for our first nursery (and then used it for the others as well). There wasn't much artwork out there at the time, so we had some greeting cards matted and framed.

What a great idea (the greeting cards)!

I love it! The bedding is adorable and I love those prints. I think that it will come together very nicely. The beds look just like Terra's and I love how they looked with her green bedding (similar to the green in yours). I can't wait to see it all put together.

Did you see our beds, or the one in the stock photo? We're thinking it will look nice together.... hopefully the colors are fairly true!

I think Disney keeps tweaking just enough to keep you re-evaluating, Elizabeth! :rotfl:

Boo, now it's snowing enough (and cold enough) to stick! I'm done with winter!

Uh-oh (and why, might I interject, am I on a private posting party all of a sudden?!) ..... Babies R Us not only sent me a coupon that expires today, but they have a fantastic B1G1 sale on Fisher Price Toys (up to $20). I think I have to go, right?! :rotfl:

As for the names, that's what we're talking about, too. Most pregnant twin moms I know seem to have determined which baby is which, but I feel like I need to look at them first! We'll see!

I always had to look at my babies first. With Katie we had a list of about 8 names that we liked, I had to see her first to see which name she "looked like." Jacob was the same. With the twins, we had the 2 names picked out, but didn't know which twin would get which name until we saw them. Then it was patently obvious.

You'll be just fine!

Hi,
Just got home alittle while ago from work. The store was very busy (like T-day weekend busy! ) They asked me to stay longer since it was so crazy. We are having 60% off now but the sale ends tonight.
Unfortunately our pins never go on sale!!

Hello, DDA!

I am back to trying to plan a cross-country trip. I'm trying to figure out how to find hotels and know that they aren't dumps. I think I have a tentative route to CA, but I need to work on my route home. I think I'll have about a week in So. Cal. How many days should I use on Disneyland and what else shouldn't we miss? We definitely want to go to a beach while we are out there.

Have a great day, DDA!

Disneyland is doable in 2 days, but 3 is better. Less rushing around. Of course, I could spend a couple of weeks there and still not be tired of it.

I wouldn't waste your time on Universal. DH and I really didn't feel like it was worth the money.

Ok, here is what we got. It wasn't my favorite by itself, so you have to know the whole story! :rotfl:

I always assumed I'd have a disney themed nursery, but I just don't like most of the stuff out. For me, as cute as a lot of it is, some of it is too cartoony, a lot of it looks too boy-ish (all the mickey sets available)... I find the Pooh stuff very cute, but I don't love Pooh more than any other character set enough to make him the focal point of the room! :rotfl:

So I was bummed. We thought about it a while, looked around for ideas, etc, and just wanted to incorporate Disney subtly, if we couldn't theme it really around it. Truthfully, that's more along the lines of my house anyway -- Disney stuff everywhere, but nothing too over-the-top (in my opinion anyway ;)).

So, we have always loved this David Doss series, and planned to use it in a beach house some day (haha). Instead, we figured the pails, etc are very appropriate for a child's room, so we started with the art. Backwards, I know :)

These 2 pictures, as well as 2 others from his series which I'll include in pictures whenever they get framed and hung

We figured we'd find "plain" sort of bedding (as in geometric, modern, etc but not themed per se) that matched.... and ended up with this set:

http://www.bananafishinc.com/prodpg.php?product_id=689

We have since found the most adorable galvanized metal pails for storage (at BRU) that match the coloring perfectly... I think it might actually come together nicely, even though I'm doing it myself! :rotfl:

We did buy the pink chenille blanket and pillow for the glider (not shown on the webiste for some reason), to make it a bit more girly. Our furniture is a dark cherry, too, so I think the set won't seem quite as bright.

Sheesh! I talk too much! :rotfl:

I love it, Jennifer! It's going to be so cheerful!!!

Thanks Tammi and Jennifer! I hope it does turn out! :goodvibes

Elizabeth, the Paddington bear room sounds so cute! With having to buy everything for two the first time around, we decided to keep the room pretty gender neutral, except for a few accents. The sets are fairly nice, so hopefully they hold up well and can be used if we have any more kids! It's just unbelievable to me how much stuff adds up for any baby, and the things you have to double make it downright scary! :faint: I wouldn't change it for the world..... I just have to try and block out the numbers from my head after they are paid for! :rotfl:

Definitely put the numbers out of your head! If you start thinking about how much you are spending on twins, your head will explode!!! It all really adds up!!! But it's so worth it!

Yes, he will be! :rotfl: We're starting out with one of most things anyway, but obviously needed 2 cribs, 2 of some essentials (bounce seats, high chairs, etc). We got a lot of input from other twin moms on what we could get by with one of, or at least wait until we see if they are going to use certain things to justify buying two! Kyle is in a full-blown panic about the 150 diapers per week he read somewhere :rotfl: I can't help him with that one, but we are at least asking around for reviews first, since many things (ie stroller, etc) are so limited for two infants. It's been fun, when we're ignoring the practical side of things! :rolleyes1

One thing we found we couldn't live without were baby swings. They were so fabulous for keeping our twins soothed.

Can't help you with the diapers. That number seems a bit much, but I really can't remember back that far! The thing that got me was that we were buying diapers for the twins and for Jacob. I had started potty training him, then got put on bed rest until the twins were born, so we didn't do any more potty training until after the twins were born, and he was used to them.

Speaking of stocking up, Jennifer, I don't know if you are planning on breastfeeding or bottle feeding. We did a bit of both. Formula was what killed us financially! If you are planning on going that route, I'd suggest you start stashing some money away specifically for that! Don't buy cans of formula yet, since it's a good idea to see which brand your babies can tolerate. In our case, Mary could tolerate anything, but Leslie had a hard time with most brands. Finally, we found one that she could deal with. Luckily, it wasn't the most expensive brand!

I wouldn't waste your time on Universal. DH and I really didn't feel like it was worth the money.

Thanks! I was thinking about 4 days for Disneyland, but then I keep wanting more and more. Of course, my only frame of reference is Disney World which I could easily spend a month at and not get nearly everything done.

What hotels do you recommend? We will be limited with a family of 5? Is it worth it to stay on-site? That would certainly hurt the budget, but...

That sounds nicer, but he was calculating the 10-12 wet diapers per day that they look for... it really does add up to 140-170 :faint: Hopefully some days we'll average out a bit less! ;)

That's only in the beginning, though. Eventually they will slow down on diaper use. I don't remember how many my kids went through in a week, but I did feel like I was constantly washing diapers in the first couple of months.

Are you planning to use formula at all? My brother says that was the largest expense for them.

That's what my brother said, too, though they never had multiples. I just know that each time my SIL was expecting, my brother immediately starting complaining about the cost of formula.

What schedule :rotfl: I would love to meet you there though, let me know your schedule ;)
I was thinking that when I typed it.

This is a Dremel Tool

I bet that would be more a discount than I could get with AP but it would more of a hassle for me so I think I'll just hold out for AP discount.

Hey there & thank you. I love reading this board but find it so hard to keep up with as everytime I come back to it there are 4 or 5 new pages :surfweb: and then I get behind and then I get lost :scared1: and then, I just give up.:rolleyes1
I am going to try harder this time though. LOL

Thanks! The funny thing is that the plates were actually Terra's idea. Well, she thought of making the plates, but she was thinking we should draw on them. I convinced her that marker and crayon under our food probably wasn't a good idea and that's when I thought of this idea. I was surprised and how hard it was to find clear plates, though. The party store was the only one that had clear ones with no designs molded in.
I wondered where you found those. That is a really great idea! I think a Figment party would be cool!

I am back to trying to plan a cross-country trip.

From there, I want to get to the Sonoran Desert Museum, but I'm not sure where to stay.
Your trip sounds great! DH & I went there it was really great! All my pictures are slides or I'ld share some with you.

Have a call in to my PCP about John. He saw her NP on Friday (the one who ordered all the blood tests). I explained what is happening and that I'm really worried. She's going to look at everything, talk to the NP, and then call me back.

Very weird, he could taste strawberry milk this am (1st thing in 4 weeks), but then it went away after a few seconds and he's tasted nothing else since. Thanks for the prayers and adding him to the prayer lists!

Oh, and thanks for the CODE! I have a call in to our TA to see if it helps or not.
:wizard: Hope he got to see someone today!

I think i may be going crazy...A couple of weeks ago, i bought nice resume paper and printed out 75 copies...I have NO idea where they are! I checked EVERYWHERE! I know that i printed them but not sure where i put them--i checked where all my other resume/teaching stuff is and no luck..guess im going out this week to buy more paper hahaha
Must be with Elin's Christmas tree and my sunglass clips.

I also realized my cell phone wasn't working!:headache: I called to have them check it because I figured adding DS's line somehow screwed mine up, although they were both working last week. Apparently they had system issues over the weekend - they told me to take the SIM card & battery out and then put it back. That fixed it. :confused3 I used my phone Saturday afternoon but not since then, so no telling how long it was out.
:wizard: Hope you got your phone fixed.

I can't tell you how excited I am now. Isn't it funny how trips become more real once airfare is purchased. I called today and was able to change our studio to a 1br now that we know Bethany is going. They let me put 5 in it but there is only linens for 4. I think we can bring another towel. ;) I also requested Epcot view 5th floor. It would be so nice to watch Illuminations from our balcony. I'm really looking forward to this more relaxing vacation. :goodvibes
I love that "real trip" feeling after air fare is booked. The next "real trip" feel I get when the DME tickets arrive.

Ok, here is what we got. It wasn't my favorite by itself, so you have to know the whole story!
That sounds so great!

I bought that first print FROM David Doss last year at the Flower Fest. My SIL and a few friends gave me Disney Dollars for my birthday so instead of just using it for my AP I bought that print and a pearl in Japan. I still haven't gotten it framed yet though.

I haven't made any requests at all for our rooms. I figure we'll go where they put us. When we stay at Pop I have very specific room requests, but for AKL & BC we'll just see what they give us.
I haven't made any for my Aug trip either. I figure all the family suites are in the 4 buildings closest to the food court and I really couldn't decide if I wanted to be in the 2 closest or if the other 2 might be quieter and I could decide if I wanted to be near the pool or away and if I wanted to be on the first floor or upper floor so I just didn't ask for anything.

HOLY COW!! Go look at the thread on "Rumors" about AP DDP! It is true!! :scared1:
AP holders can add DDP to their room-only ressies!
WHERE did you read that?

I was just on the phone with Disney Dining and asked the CM about it and she said "I don't have any information on that AT THIS TIME".

OK. Here's the scoop.

WOW! I may have to "crunch some numbers" for May. It would work for August but I have AAA on that room and don't think I'll get an AP so I guess it won't work.

It really would have worked out for me in January when I was paying $49/night AP rate on room and had my best eater with me.

so who else has off tomrorow? Do you have anything fun planned?

I wanted to go out with friends tomorrow, but i still have 101 temp and figure its not the best idea..so im thinking a day in bed watching movies may be in order!

Oh no, Jen! I hope you're feeling better today!

Whew! All caught up!

I wasn't able to get on Friday or Saturday, since Alan had a client over, so this is my first chance to get caught up! Sounds like things are humming here in our little corner of the DIS.

Valentine's Day was really nice for us. Alan brought home a dozen pink roses, and some carnations for the kids. He also gave me a beautiful necklace of black pearls. He told me he knows about my obsession with Captain Jack, so he's decided to give in gracefully, and give me my own "black pearl." What a guy!!!

We took all the kids to see Enchanted last night at the dollar theater. It was so fun! The kids really loved it! I can't wait to own this movie!!!! On the way home, however, Jacob threw up in the car. He wasn't complaining about feeling sick, so I don't know where it came from. He's been fine, since, so I'm hoping it was just too much junk food!

Today we went to my SIL's house for a pot luck dinner. Her son and his wife are visiting from England so we went there to see them. They announced that they are going to have a baby in early August! So exciting!!! We are having an "emergency" baby shower for her on Tuesday night. Since they have limited space, it will really be people coming to visit and bring cash.

Now that I'm caught up, I'm heading to bed! Hopefully we'll get to sleep in, since the kids don't have to go to school tomorrow. The only things I have to do are hang some posters for the kid's school play, and make a cherry pie for President's Day. See y'all in the morning.

What a great V-Day gift from Alan. :goodvibes Hope today is a good one!

Thanks. I was still nauseous this morning, but not as bad.

That it continues to go away! :wizard: :wizard:

bleh... I have no voice at all. Not a good thing for teaching classes and singing! But... it will get better... it always does! :goodvibes

How are you feeling these days, Marci? Better finally, I hope!!

Oh no! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Good morning...Today is a good Monday. Only 3 kids. Emma and Molly are at my inlaws- they spent the night. So it's Lucy, Ty and Hayden. I wish every Monday was like this ;)

Emma had her soccer evaluations yesterday. She was placed on the team with no coach. The director is trying his hardest to recruit Eric to do it but he honestly doesn't think he has it in him to do so successfully. Not to mention that he agreed to help assist on Molly's team. He assisted the last few years but we've now moved up to where things are now competitive. So the time commitment is at least 2 nights a week and game day. I have a feeling though that he will get roped into it if no one else steps up. Decisions, decisions.

That does sound like a much better Monday. :goodvibes I hope Eric is able to avoid the inevitable!

I see a Visa code has come out for free upgrade to hopper & water park passes. I am still waiting for a room only code!

ETA: here is the thread if anyone is interested.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1725707

I'm still waiting with you, Janet! At this point, I'm thinking I might just need to get happy with my discounted rate at the Swan!

Good Morning. All is relatively quiet on the homefront. Hunter woke up with a slight fever and headache, but Motrin seems to have done the trick :thumbsup2 Logan has a bad cold which he blames on me :lmao: He's probably right as he sat with me most of the day Friday when I wasn't feeling well. Tomorrow Colby and Nick have dentist appointments in the morning. My cousin has asked me to watch her 2 kids on Wednesday and Thursday morning and DSIL is taking her kids to Connecticut for 2 days so I will still have 5 kids :confused3 for the mornings anyway. Today I'm taking the kids bowling, one day I will take my 3 to the movies and I think I'll take all 5 swimming on Friday. That should spice up vacation a bit for them. More work for me, but hopefully they will behave better.

Hope they behave for you this week, Deb!

Hello, DDA!

I have been trying to read along, but it seems like there just aren't enough hours in the day.

Denise, pixiedust: for John! I hope that you get some good answers very soon. You have had so much to deal with. I also hope that everything works out with the neighbors so that you don't have that added stress in your life.

pixiedust: for everyone else under the weather!

I am back to trying to plan a cross-country trip. I'm trying to figure out how to find hotels and know that they aren't dumps. Hey, Cincinnati folks! I think we want to stop around there for our first night. It will be a long drive that day (9 hours), but I want to cover a lot of ground the first day, since we don't really need to see much between here and there. Any recommendations for hotels/activities?

Next will be a stop in St. Louis, but I think I want to drive some more that day, too, and make it to somewhere near Springfield, MO.

Another long day could get us in the vicinity of Amarillo, TX.

Then on to Las Cruces, NM area with a stop perhaps in Roswell, NM for a little sight seeing.

From there, I want to get to the Sonoran Desert Museum, but I'm not sure where to stay.

Finally, on to Anaheim.

What do you think? Too much driving each day? That would get us out there in a week, and I don't think we have much more time to add to that.

Oh well, I'd better stop dreamin and go clean for a while.

Have a great day, DDA!

What a great sounding trip, Beth! About all I can contribute is an endorsement of a relatively inexpensive and clean Holiday Inn Express about 1 hour east of Springfield if you're driving that way. Otherwise, I'm no help!
