DDA Chapter 4

Sorry I did not see this sooner, glad you received a code!

:cool1: on going to Vegas, what are your dates? I was even looking at that :rotfl:

It's not silly!!! ;) (Janet - forward that code to me at work please if you don't plan on using it. I got mine, but I need another for Bob and it's taking FOREVER to get the email for signing up!)

ETA: Nevermind Janet! Robyn beat you to it. Thanks Robyn!!!

ETA Again: Bob and I are going to Vegas!!! We ended up booking on Southwest - it was $150 cheaper! :faint: Staying at the WYNN!!!

Sounds wonderful Chanon :thumbsup2

ETA: I thought you said where! We are going March 2!

Las Vegas! (Don't have to twist Bob's arm on that one - Vegas to Bob is like WDW to me! :rotfl: )
A FAM came across for the Wynn - includes two nights, show tickets to Le Reve, 4 hours of meetings for me which includes site inspection, and then dinner at their buffet. It's only for two nights but it'll be fun! Bob's not fond of "Las Vegas Shows" so Mom is meeting us there and she'll go to the show with me - Bob will sit at the slots. During my meeting, Mom offered to treat Bob to breakfast (if he's still not sitting at the slots) and then we might go to Red Rock or Hoover Dam.

Robyn love your new signature!

Lindsay your tulips sound lovely!

Good morning DDA. Thank you all for the get well wishes last night. I woke up this morning with a lovely 103 degree fever. Surprisingly I still don't feel horrible. But I am taking it easy today in hopes that I can finally kick this. Last night I went to bed at 7:30 and woke up this morning at 6:30. I can't remember the last time I slept that much.

Bear with me as I rant a bit- So I closed down daycare, which has upset just about everyone. It really infuriates me that when I close and believe me it ain't very often, I get all kinds of guilt and sob stories. I understand it is a huge inconvenience for all involved but for crying out loud I deserve a small amount of respect. I didn't close down because I broke a nail. What makes me upset is that not one parent has a back up in place. But again somehow that's my fault! Normally I would get my sister to help out but she has pinkeye and my niece has strep throat. So I seriously doubt that they should be around the kids.

This sounds SOOOOO familiar! Parents who rely on caregivers for their kids often prefer to overlook the fact that caregivers are HUMAN!
I swear I know parents who would leave their children alone and then call CPS to report that the nanny didn't show up and expect neglect charges to be filed against the nanny! During hours that a caregiver is typically on duty the parents wash their hands of any and all responsibility for those children - it is the SOLE responsibility of the caregiver to care for them, no matter what, because that is her JOB. I know nannies who are required to find coverage for their charges if they are going to be out sick - the parents don't care WHO shows up, as long as it is SOMEBODY so they aren't stuck with their own kids.
The parents don't care if the kids get sick from being exposed to an ill caregiver, and they don't care that a sick caregiver isn't going to be providing very effective care. They just care about themselves, and their schedule not being interrupted, because they are VERY important people, you know!
Off my soapbox now.
And for what it's worth, I don't think my current bosses are that way.

Robyn you made the right decision to take the day off & the parents should understand. Do not let them make you feel guilty, do they want their children to get sick as well :confused3

I was thinking flu, but I think that makes you feel really horrible, not just feverish.

Bob and I celebrated Vday last night. He loved his photo book, saying it was the most personal gift he has ever received. He got me a box of chocolates and diamond earrings! The kids even got little gifts from him. All in all it was a great night.

Chocolate and diamonds sounds good to me! :thumbsup2

thanks for the comments on the new picture in my siggy. I looked for one of the 4 of us but couldn't find one from the October trip. I will keep looking... maybe on my PhotoPass CD. Kathrin looks so different with her hair cut that I didn't feel like I could put in one from any previous trips either.

I like your new pic, and Robyn's new pic, too! :)

I agree 100%, Robyn. These are the same parents who would bring sick kids to you and expect you top care for them and would be the first to complain if those same kids got sick because they were around sickies in your care! Let it go, but maybe put something in your "contract" next year about it if you think it is necessary to remind them that they need a back up plan!

They wouldn't think twice about dropping off a sick kid, that's for sure. My contracts usually state that I am responsible for providing care for ill children. Which is fine, because this isn't a group setting.

Dadboss got the new fridge situated where it belongs, now he just needs to level it.
Princess gave me a very sweet Valentine, along with some money that I have already added to my Disney gift card.:lovestruc
DH just called to say DS's cell phone has arrived. We find it hilarious that we have to sign for a box of chips but they will leave a cell phone on the doorstep.:rotfl2:

Chanon,
Yay for Vegas & for Spamalot!!!!!!!:cool1:

Robyn,
Love the new siggie pictures!

Lindsay,
Yay for tulips!!!!:flower3:

Don't feel bad! I did the same thing with Jonathan's anniversary card this year. He keeps all of them, and when he went to put this year's with his collection, neither of us realized that it was the same one from last year!

But it was just perfect - what can you do?! :confused3

As I told him, well, at least my feelings for you haven't changed!

It wouldn't surprise me if DH has gotten the same card from me more than once.
The guy at the Disney Store told me today that the Hallmark in the mall is closing. No telling where I'll get my cards now.:sad2:

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

There must be something in the DDA air...my husband just brought me this:

http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp...&productId=1222350&langId=-1&categoryId=14313

we don't normally do anything for Valentine's Day...it's a hallmark created holiday (IMO). But we did get the girls the lip gloss packs and I picked up The Aristocats CHEAP!! If I see No Reservations at Redbox I may get that to watch tonight...if not we'll find some "lovey" movie to watch:goodvibes

Im so frustrated with my computer--I had a problem a couple weeks ago so they told me they were mailing me a new cord and that would fix it..i just sent the old cord back yesterday and today the same probably is happening..i just got this computer so i shouldnt be ahving all these problems!

i have a feeling they are going to tellm e ot send it to them and they will fix it--i hate being without my computer!

Now im waiting for the online tech support..number 46 in line still..so here i am!
Good luck with your computer Jen!

im watching deal or no deal--its a firefighter! now i just hope he gets the million--anyone watching?
I was watching that-hope I can remember to watch the conclusion!

Well, I'm back, but guess no one else is. The good news tonight is that I finally (I hope) have a paid (hopefully) deposit on our trip reservation!!

You all know that Chris is as big a Disney nut as me and we indulge each other. Well he thinks that I've lost my mind tonight. I received my t-shirt order today so I started putting together outfits for our June trip. I figure that the kids won't need shorts until late May early June anyway. They have enough non Disney shorts to cover those few weeks. I needed to know what I was up against in the shopping and designing department. I need to decide which AK design I want to use and get that printed and ironed on. I also need to print out the Mickey Swirl design and iron that on. Then I need to create some sort of Patriotic Design for the 11 of us for the Campground Parade and our Fireworks cruise. I'm anxiously awaiting the new HS parade as I'm sure there will be new and different characters and I will need to make additional autograph pages. With less than 20 weeks to go, I can't wait until the last minute...can I :rotfl:
I don't think you're crazy at all. I wish I had your drive!

Good morning DDA. Thank you all for the get well wishes last night. I woke up this morning with a lovely 103 degree fever.
Hope you can kick this fast. You did the right thing. I cannot believe the parents would want someone who's sick watching their kids.

The snow continues here. Where I live, it's not so bad, but in other areas of my county, it's pretty bad! Alan made it home by 10:45, exhausted but ok.

As of 9:00 last night, there were about 300 students that were still not picked up by parents. They were able to bus them all to one school, and parents were informed about the move. By 10:30 all but 165 had been picked up and taken home. Those 165 live in very far out areas, and parents could not make it in to pick them up. So, they got to have a "sleep over" at the school. There were several teachers that volunteered to stay and watch over things. Our school district has a huge emergency plan in place, so every school is equipped with sleeping bags for at least 500 kids. The kitchen was opened, and the kids were fed and entertained. That school (and several others) are closed today. The hope is that the parents will be able to pick their kids up by noon as the storm is supposed to blow out by then.

It did get very scary last night, as we had near hurricane force winds blowing the snow all around. At last count, there were 62 accidents just in my county alone! This was a bad one.

And of course, I need to go out today to get something for Alan. I thought we weren't going to do Valentine's day gifts this year, but apparently, he thought differently. I'm going to wait until later this afternoon, though. I don't want to be out in this weather!
YIKES!!!! Glad Alan made it home! Please stay safe!!!

I keep thinking about my friend that is at WDW right now, and I'm very jealous. I scheduled them to drop her son off at the Sandcastle Club tonight, and they're to go see IllumiNations and eat dinner at the Yachstman Steakhouse. I want that Valentine's Day!
That sounds like an awesome Valentines Day!
