DDA Chapter 4

OK. Here's the scoop.
AP holders can book dining in conjunction with a room-only ressie BUT the room has to be on an AP discount OR be rack rate. On a rack rate room it has to be a NEW ressie, not a modification. You can't add it to a AAA or a Bounce Back discount. So, if I can get an AP discount on my pool view room I can add DDP. Which I will seriously consider. Even though it won't save us any money. Because I can't seem to stop thinking about it.:rolleyes1
Of course, again, us DVC members can't take advantage of it.

Did you see our beds, or the one in the stock photo? We're thinking it will look nice together.... hopefully the colors are fairly true!

I was thinking of your beds in the blog. It looks just like Terra's!

Beth - There are so many good hotels within walking distance to DL that you don't really need to stay on-site. Plus, the only on-site options are WDW deluxe level pricing so that plays a factor for me at least.

Thanks for finding out the details Elizabeth. Now we just need to hope for AP rates for Aug. I might consider adding the DP then. When do you pay for the DP, is it added to your total due for the room? What about deposit, is it $200 or 1st nights stay?

Yes I could call :rotfl:
But if you call they won't tell you anything!

Boo, now it's snowing enough (and cold enough) to stick! I'm done with winter!
:scared1: It was close to 60 here today so we had lots of windows open hoping to air all the nasty bugs out of the house.

Uh-oh (and why, might I interject, am I on a private posting party all of a sudden?!) ..... Babies R Us not only sent me a coupon that expires today, but they have a fantastic B1G1 sale on Fisher Price Toys (up to $20). I think I have to go, right?! :rotfl:
I think you HAVE to.

Of course, again, us DVC members can't take advantage of it.
But you guys have always been able to book DDP without a package. Isn't that all us AP holders are getting?

Lindsay, we just made our room requests with Special Needs. Asked for Courtyard View (on Crescent Lake side) 2nd floor with full balcony. Hopefully, we'll get it! Did you have 2 Queen beds? It looks like it would be a quiet room and a good location for us. Thanks again to you and Elin!

That sounds like great requests! I will go look at my trip file in a moment, and let you know the exact room # we had. It probably won't help you much, as it was a king, but it will give you more of a specific idea where we were.

If we go back to the BC, I'd want that std. room again!

Will do, thanks.

I can't tell you how excited I am now. Isn't it funny how trips become more real once airfare is purchased. I called today and was able to change our studio to a 1br now that we know Bethany is going. They let me put 5 in it but there is only linens for 4. I think we can bring another towel. ;) I also requested Epcot view 5th floor. It would be so nice to watch Illuminations from our balcony. I'm really looking forward to this more relaxing vacation. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2

Ok, here is what we got. It wasn't my favorite by itself, so you have to know the whole story! :rotfl:

I always assumed I'd have a disney themed nursery, but I just don't like most of the stuff out. For me, as cute as a lot of it is, some of it is too cartoony, a lot of it looks too boy-ish (all the mickey sets available)... I find the Pooh stuff very cute, but I don't love Pooh more than any other character set enough to make him the focal point of the room! :rotfl:

So I was bummed. We thought about it a while, looked around for ideas, etc, and just wanted to incorporate Disney subtly, if we couldn't theme it really around it. Truthfully, that's more along the lines of my house anyway -- Disney stuff everywhere, but nothing too over-the-top (in my opinion anyway ;)).

So, we have always loved this David Doss series, and planned to use it in a beach house some day (haha). Instead, we figured the pails, etc are very appropriate for a child's room, so we started with the art. Backwards, I know :)

These 2 pictures, as well as 2 others from his series which I'll include in pictures whenever they get framed and hung

We figured we'd find "plain" sort of bedding (as in geometric, modern, etc but not themed per se) that matched.... and ended up with this set:

http://www.bananafishinc.com/prodpg.php?product_id=689

We have since found the most adorable galvanized metal pails for storage (at BRU) that match the coloring perfectly... I think it might actually come together nicely, even though I'm doing it myself! :rotfl:

We did buy the pink chenille blanket and pillow for the glider (not shown on the webiste for some reason), to make it a bit more girly. Our furniture is a dark cherry, too, so I think the set won't seem quite as bright.

Sheesh! I talk too much! :rotfl:

I bet it will turn out adorable. I do love those prints, too, but they don't look like my house, so I always just admire from afar. What a great idea to use them for a baby's room!

That is precious! :goodvibes I loved Paddington Bear.

Hi everyone,

Long time no see!:3dglasses

My cousins are now home with their parents. They were here Saturday, Sunday and this morning. As their parents were at the Daytona 500 and drove straight home after the race. My Mom took them to the dentist today and then home.

I have been to work and am home now. I came home with the intention of going out and enjoying the nice 60 degree weather. Instead it is now in the 40s and raining. :confused3  So I am inside instead, online shopping, well at least looking, or looking at tropical places to vacation to trying to convince myself it is spring or summer. I also have homework to finish. Doesn't that stuff ever stop??:confused3 :confused3

I have a busy week meetings Tuesday and Thursday night. Wednesday night I am going to the Dutch Apple Dinner theater as Mom won 4 tickets. Saturday and Sunday I have events.

I hope everyone is doing well. Feel better soon. Have a great day. Congratulations! Happy Anniversary, Birthday, Valentine's Day so on and so forth :wizard: :grouphug:

I might be back later, if I get things accomplished. Then again since I am a procrastinator and need the break I might be back again anyways.

Good to see you, Becky! Hope you get it all done!

Tammi, unless I'm reading it wrong, I don't think the plan is free. So, it's just like DVC members adding it to points reservations.

Just looked on another board, and saw it there, as well. One person did mention that the CM told them to call back on Thursday, that they're not able to book this at this time.

Also mentioned that this would put the reservation cancellable w/o penalty only up to 45 days out like packages (not the standard 5-days like a regular room only reservation). That definitely gives me pause.

Right now, it's not even worth contemplating for May, as we're staying at the Swan, and not eligible for DDP. However, if a really good AP discount comes out, and we switch to a Disney hotel, I might run the numbers. I still do like just the overall flexibility of the DDE, though. I'm still betting that will be our better choice.

Thanks! I was thinking about 4 days for Disneyland, but then I keep wanting more and more. Of course, my only frame of reference is Disney World which I could easily spend a month at and not get nearly everything done.

What hotels do you recommend? We will be limited with a family of 5? Is it worth it to stay on-site? That would certainly hurt the budget, but...

Actually, there are closer hotels to DL than any of the property (except the GC). We like to stay at the Best Western Park Place Inn. They have family suites that fit our family of 6 perfectly! We've also stayed next door at the Park Vue Inn, but there you have to get connecting rooms, as they don't have suites. There are lots of great hotels close to the gates that will save you money!

Yes I could call :rotfl:

I don't know how that all works. I would guess it wold fall under the same guidelines as other packages with the 45 day thing.

Hi,
Just got home alittle while ago from work. The store was very busy (like T-day weekend busy! ) They asked me to stay longer since it was so crazy. We are having 60% off now but the sale ends tonight.
Unfortunately our pins never go on sale!!

I called my Disney Store and asked if the pins are on sale, and they are. Now I just need to get there before the promo is over!

Hmm. I couldn't find details on any of the other sites I checked, but the CM I talked to was very nice. If you go to the "Rumors" forum here on the DIS I posted a thread about it. I tried to multi-quote it but it dropped the part that I WANTED to quote! The poster found the details on another board but didn't say WHICH board.

I love it, Jennifer! It's going to be so cheerful!!!

Hopefully they'll sleep in it, too! I hear sometimes not to make it too bright, but what's the fun in that?! I can't decorate any other room in my house this fun! :rotfl:

One thing we found we couldn't live without were baby swings. They were so fabulous for keeping our twins soothed.

Can't help you with the diapers. That number seems a bit much, but I really can't remember back that far! The thing that got me was that we were buying diapers for the twins and for Jacob. I had started potty training him, then got put on bed rest until the twins were born, so we didn't do any more potty training until after the twins were born, and he was used to them.

We are hoping to have a full size swing downstairs, and a travel swing for either up or downstairs. The thing we know we won't live without though, if every baby I know is any indication, is a bounce seat for each. I have done a ton of research (we're talking hours, weeks, months! :faint:) , so I'm sure they will do just the opposite of what I planned for! ;)

Speaking of stocking up, Jennifer, I don't know if you are planning on breastfeeding or bottle feeding. We did a bit of both. Formula was what killed us financially! If you are planning on going that route, I'd suggest you start stashing some money away specifically for that! Don't buy cans of formula yet, since it's a good idea to see which brand your babies can tolerate. In our case, Mary could tolerate anything, but Leslie had a hard time with most brands. Finally, we found one that she could deal with. Luckily, it wasn't the most expensive brand!

That's only in the beginning, though. Eventually they will slow down on diaper use. I don't remember how many my kids went through in a week, but I did feel like I was constantly washing diapers in the first couple of months.

Are you planning to use formula at all? My brother says that was the largest expense for them.

I will be exclusively pumping (not breastfeeding) to start, but I don't know a) how well that will work or b) for how long I will do it. I will have a MAJOR shock with formula I think, if our bad dreams come true.... For years, we have counted on not paying a dime for formula. There are reps that talk with doctors, nurses, etc in the Peds world that can generally give you more than you need if your baby can tolerate a few major brands. I'm hearing rumors that those offers may be going by the wayside though, which would really put a kink in things. I couldn't complain much since it would have been a major blessing anyway, but it's a HUGE "discount" we were counting on up until very recently! We'll see!

I was thinking of your beds in the blog. It looks just like Terra's!

I love those cribs, you have good taste! ;)

I bet it will turn out adorable. I do love those prints, too, but they don't look like my house, so I always just admire from afar. What a great idea to use them for a baby's room!

That's been exactly my problem, hence the dream of putting them in a beach house someday! ;) I was whining about there not being anything, and it was actually Kyle's idea -- he pointed out that sand castles, pails, etc certainly fit the bill for a childrens room! It's not as "baby" as I thought my nursery would turn out, but that might mean I grow tired of it less quickly!

Ok, since I just finished eating, just caught up, and you all are making me go to Babies R Us ;) I'm heading out. Have a good evening!

Cassidy hated her bouncy seat and Abi tolerated hers....I have kiddos who are the anti to the norm.

Have fun at Babies R Us:goodvibes

So. If the AP rate is $50 per night off a Deluxe room like it was earlier this year we would be saving an extra $15 per night on the room over the AAA discount. Then we could add DxDDP for $70 per person which adds $210 per night. Subtract the $15 and it gives us an increase of $195 per night over where we are now. DxDDP would save us 6.5% tax, but cost us 18% - 20% in additional gratuities, probably $45 per day if we did buffet breakfast and signature dinner because DS would be ordering from the adult menu. Hmm. It would also mean re-doing my ADRs for those days to make sure we got the signature dinners in there. Hmm. Definitely hmm.:rolleyes1

I would post a link, but I'm sure it will be blocked. It's another message board with the word "Magic" in it. It's under "Trip Planning."

This info. certainly looks like it either a) came from an e-mail to Passholders, or b) came as a response to asking Disney directly if this were true.

It's interesting. If it were the old DDP, it would be a whole other story...

I bought that first print FROM David Doss last year at the Flower Fest. My SIL and a few friends gave me Disney Dollars for my birthday so instead of just using it for my AP I bought that print and a pearl in Japan. I still haven't gotten it framed yet though.

Have you seen the latest one? We have the three with the beach/pail theme (the two linked before, plus Mickey's Ice Cold Drinks, as well as one new(er) one, at least I think they're newer. We have the Mickey one of these:

Ahh, see! You know that will be mine! ;) At least those seats are some of the least expensive of all the equipment! :rotfl:

So that seems to be saying that it will be a package. I can deal with that. I didn't realize that you actually talked to a CM about it. I wonder if they will offer this with the next round of AP discounts?

I will have a MAJOR shock with formula I think, if our bad dreams come true.... For years, we have counted on not paying a dime for formula. You've got to tell us what you got!
