DDA Chapter 4

Well Brandon is back to his usual self, and his dad is dong great. He had the drain removed yesterday and he has to go back and have the stint removed on April 8th, other than that he is good to go, he has to take it easy for the next three weeks.

Thank you all for the good wishes.

I was looking into renting DVC points for our November trip, it sounds like a great deal but not knowing the person that we would be renting from makes me pretty uneasy, I'll probably end up making our reservations through Disney again.

Glad Brandon is doing better, Debbie, as well as his daddy! That is great news all around.

Let me know if you want a recommendation of someone to contact for a DVC point rental. My parents rented from a guy recommended to me over on the Rent/Trade board before we became members, and everything turned out great for them. It's my understanding he has a slew of points, so he might be able to help you out. I've heard nothing but good things about the folks that rent over there, if that's any consolation. Look for people with high post counts, and/or references! I wish I had some left over I could rent you.

It was almost too easy this week. The biggest point earner this time was sleep...one of my favorite things. Actually, it's not easy getting 8 hours a night with a night owl DD and early working DH so I had to work on that one. I even gave myself a manicure and pedicure for another part. It seems to have been a good thing cause I haven't bitten my nails all week and I can actually see a teeny tiny bit of white growing out on the ends. Maybe I can look/be healthier and have some nails as well!

Still - something to be proud of! Good luck with the nails, too!

Well, it wasn't quite a relaxing day, but it was fun. I remembered that the Museum of Transportation was free today for Leap Day so we went there this afternoon. They have tons of train cars of various types, ages, etc out on the tracks. There are several that you can go in and explore including two engines - one coal, one oil. Terra got to get in and move the levers around like an engineer would and rang the bell on one of them. It was really cool as both of my grandfathers were railroad men. One was an engineer so Terra was pretending to be Papaw. The other was a dispatcher and there were things to show her about that as well. There was even an old Boston "T" train on display. :goodvibes: We'll have to go and take a tour sometime as well as they take you in even more of the cars in those.

Tomorrow we're headed to the zoo to enjoy the nice weather. I had a message from Wendy tonight that Michael is out of the hospital and they are going to the zoo tomorrow too so hopefully we'll meet up with them as well.

Glad you guys had a good time yesterday - hope the zoo is fun today! That's great news about Michael. :goodvibes

Lindsay - congrats on your promotion. I just told the girls and they said, "YIPPEE!! Tell her way to go!" I am glad your fur baby is doing better. Good luck with the funding of all that extra care. :)

Aww - tell them "thanks". Hope the drive and unload today has/is going well!

Well, Happy March!! The first day of Spring is March 20!
And it looks like the clocks change next weekend? Hmm. That means DH can wear shorts to work again! (Not that he will until it warms up!)

Really? That kind of bums me out - I hate losing an hour of sleep.

Thanks. Yes, but I just hope it's not a train, headed straight for ME! :rotfl2:

I hope not either! He sounds like a real piece of work these days.

Good morning!

Happy March everyone!

Now I can offically say "We are going on a Disney cruise next month!"

:woohoo: :woohoo:

Did you guys watch the DCL special yesterday?

Off to take my test. If I survive I hope to be on later.

Have a great day everyone.

Hope it goes well for you, Becky!

Hi Kids, I have been reading a bit off and on all week. But I find myself a tad in the dumps (no big deal this shall change I am sure).

Mark left Tue at O'dark thirty and we have been go go go all week. I am on the hunt for a for costume items for Ellie and between drive all over town this week and net surfing I am beat. I can't seem to find what I want at all.
Than I was told the other night that the outifit I found al Walmsart for Elliw wont work for her Hollywood gig. Ok, fine, I can deal with that she did look a little hufflumpish in it. BUT Sunday she performs the song at a fundraiser for one of the other kids going and I HAVE NO outfit. So I have charged up my credit card looking for the perfect outfit to get us through two events (next week a fundraiser for Cancer) and none of the crap looks good on her.
THE GIRL HAS A bit of a belly and a juicy fruit Bu+t on her. :lmao: Poor thing is shaped like me and she is stuck with it. And it wont change much until she hits her teens. :sad2: Oh well.

I have even been to every thirft store in town looking for black boots and crap.
pirate: :sad2:

If I can get throught these next two performances I will be able to work on her Hollywood clothing with no problem.

PD to you all.

Wow - sounds very busy. Good luck with all the costumes, and I hope Ellie does well with her perfomances! How is Bethie doing with her growth hormones?

I am in such a funk today. I really just want to sleep which is my typical getting depressed MO. We are so sick of winter and snow. It'll be July before it all melts at this point. The good news is that the foot we had expected ended up being only 3 inches :thumbsup2 I need to get my butt in gear as I need to we AT work in an hour. I'm not looking forward to going as I am in the back room (usually big parties) and there is only a 12 and 8 planned in there. We work 2 waitstaff in that room and pool tips and I greatly dislike the girl that I am scheduled with. Now mind you I can get along with about anyone, but she is just a negative constantly complaining person. I can't wait for tonight to be over with.

We are debating whether to take the boys skiing tomorrow or not. It is supposed to be highs around 30 degrees and windy. I would wait another week, but we need to tap the trees very soon and I don't know when another opportunity will arise.

  Sorry that the winter blues have set in. Didn't you guys barely have any snow last winter? How crazy to go from feast to famine! Maybe there's not that much truth in global warming after all.

Thanks Lindsay,

Congratulations on the promotion, glad to hear that your fur baby is on the mend.

If you could PM me the info I will check into the guy you recommend. So if this is the way we go what property would you recommend?

Just sent you a PM!

As far as properties - I honestly think each one has something great to recommend it. It probably depends a lot on what you guys want to do, what parks you'd like to be close to, what size accomodations you need, etc. As for cost, OKW and then SSR are generally the lowest in terms of points needed per night. The std. views at the BWV are also a good value, but are sometimes hard to get. The VWL and the BCV are the smallest of the DVC resorts, so those are a little tougher to get into. And of course, there's now the villas over at AKV.

Since you guys like Hollywood Studios so much, maybe a villa at BWV or BCV would be a good option, since you could walk or boat over. Of course, you would also get pretty good service with the dedicated buses of AKV, OKW, or SSR, and that would be to all parks.

I've only stayed at SSR, so that's the only one I can comment on as far as DVC goes. We do plan to branch out beyond our home resort just to sample around, but haven't made it there yet. Probably the next to try on my list is either BCV or AKV. The only one that doesn't hold much appeal to me is OKW - I can't really put my finger on it, but everyone else here seems to love it there!

Let me know if you want me to call and check availability for you!

Looking at the points chart OKW seems to be the best option, it would be 82 points for the dates that we are interested in, we would want a Studio from 11/08/08 - 11/15/08. Is the dining plan an option if we go this route, I'm a little iffy about it for this trip, since they will not substitute the appetizer for desert and sugar is now a big No No. We will definitely be going to some of our favorite restaurants either way.

I'm thinking of doing this to surprise DH for his birthday, he has always wanted to step up to a Deluxe, but I never have been willing to spend the extra money, this way would be ccomparable to what we would be paying at the moderate, without the pin code that is, and I checked, we don't have one either.

I just sent an email out, I'll let you know if I get a response.

I checked his name on the Orange County official website and he has a lot of points.

It looks like I'm all alone here right now, I learned how to do a new background on photoshop so here's a design I came up with it. DH will never wear this one, :lmao:

Good morning!

Happy March everyone!

Now I can offically say "We are going on a Disney cruise next month!"

pirate: :cool2: :cool1: :dance3: :cheer2: :woohoo:

Yay for cruising! Today is our 5 month mark, which doesn't sound all that great!:rotfl2:

I was hoping our tickers would be back today.:confused3

Maybe tomorrow!

I'm sure he appreciates it! :)

DH brought the mail in a minute ago and today we have Entertainment Weekly, addressed to the same guy! :headache: We have lived here for 4.5 years! What is up with this guy? It isn't like he JUST moved out! And I didn't get any sort of card on this one so he is on his own!

Deb - Hope you are feeling happier soon! :wizard:

Paula - Good luck with the costuming issues! :wizard:

Debbie - Yay for trip planning!
I like your design!

We ordered 2 pairs of glasses for DS. After insurance it was $160, which I guess isn't THAT bad for 2 complete pairs. The one pair (his main ones) have the little magnetic sunglass attachment which he thinks is the best thing EVER. He has never been one to wear sunglasses, so we'll see. It will take about a week to get them in, so it looks like he won't be wearing glasses to school until after Spring Break.

We are coming up with ideas for this 3D poster about Greece. DH has gone in search of blue Saran wrap so we can make some water. We'll also make a mountain from a paper sack and cotton balls, and a flag from craft foam. I might have DS make a little boat and fisherman from craft foam and see if we have any sort of mesh or net that he can use to look like a fishing net. I bet there is something in his Playmobil stuff that would work. 6th grade wears me out!

Elizabeth that was very sweet & honest of you :goodvibes

Jennifer - I am too honest for my own good. I dug in my desk trash and found a postcard we got about the People subscription. I hadn't read it - thought it was junk. I called the number, gave them the account info and told them I have never heard of that guy but I am getting his magazines. The card said his credit card would be auto-billed, and I didn't want that so I had them cancel the subscription.

Paula I hope you find everything you need :wizard:

I have even been to every thirft store in town looking for black boots and crap.

Hi, Janet! How was your day?

Chanon - Well, chop, chop! Time's a wastin'! Packing is the most important part of a trip, you know!;)

Deb I get really depressed in the winter. If I did not have to work, I probably would not go any where. Little weekends away do help & planning for future trips. I hope you get out of your funk soon, just know you are not alone

Hope work passes quickly for you tonight & that your co-worker is not to much of a downer. :wizard: for lot's of tips!
