DDA Chapter 3

Nick had his awards ceremony this morning and he did receive High Honors.

I know that I am prejudiced, but I really think that Nick is the most handsome guy in the whole 6th grade. It really struck me today as I watched all the other kids getting there awards. I can see him being a real heart breaker in a couple of years :flower3:

ETA: The eyes don't do him justice

he is a handsome young man....cuter in person. Tell him congrats!!

Morning DDA!

For a warning those north east of me...this weather system that is passing sucks. Snow. Rain. Snow. Temp goes up. Temp goes down. Snows more. Rain freezes.

Drive carefully today!!!!

Yikes! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for safety out there!!!

TGIF!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: You can't know how glad I am that this week is almost over. I am exhausted. The boys have drained me this week.

Tonight the girls are headed to my parent's house for the night. Eric and I need to clean the house tomorrow and it's about a million times easier with them not around! We are having friends over tomorrow evening for dinner. Sunday my aunt is having a Super Bowl party so we will go there for a bit but probably watch most of the game from here since it's a school night.

My cousin and his wife were supposed to come down next weekend from Allentown but that has been put on hold. She had emergency surgery to remove her gallbladder last night. I was so looking forward to the visit. But thankfully she is ok. We can always reschedule.

Yay for making it through the week, Robyn! I'm sorry to hear about your cousin - I hope her recovery is quick, and as painless as possible. That's scary!

I put these pictures on photobucket a while ago but didn't get around to posting them.

This is Matthew as John Bender in the high school production of Breakfast Club.

Here is Laura in her Snowball dress. I have a few photos of her with her hair done, too, but I haven't put them on Photobucket yet. The dance wasn't really her thing. I guess there was too much dancing going on (especially amongst her friends) that was "disgusting." She just wasn't comfortable.

Wonderful pics, Beth! I'm sorry to hear Laura didn't have a lot of fun at the dance - I didn't much care for mine, either, back in the day.

It's good to see you around - stay warm today!

For those of you that have traveled to WDW in the summer...June, July, August....how are the crowds? I was looking at a website that shows 9s for pretty much all of June and July, then they drop down in the beginning of August. I'm considering a quick trip down sometime this summer. Right now airfare on SW is $160.

I see you've already decided! :thumbsup2

I only knew WDW in the summer months (June, July), until I was an adult. Now, I'm spoiled by off-season crowds! However, I think, with your knowledge of the parks and how to tour (go early, use FP, which attraction when, TGM's best days, take afternoon breaks, etc.), you'll be fine. Just be prepared for that Florida heat and humidity! I don't think anyone could ever get used to it!

Thanks for all the well wishes, I had a rough night. I had a fever & around 4am it broke & I was all soaked.(yuck, I know) I feel better now so hopefully its over.

Lots of :wizard: :wizard: for you, and for Katie, too. You guys need to catch a break!!

Our storm hasn't started yet, but it is supposed to be bad. The snow should start anytime and the freezing rain around noon. School is letting out at noon to get the kids home before things get too nasty. All weather stations are recommending that employees be sent home as early in the afternoon as possible and people should not travel unless absolutely necessary. Of course I need to get to work at 5 PM which will be right in the middle of the whole mess. We are expected to have at least a 1/2 inch of ice by morning. I don't mind snowstorms and it could dump 2 feet, I'd be fine with it, but this I scares the crap out of me. I will probably call work and tell them that I may be late as I don't want to put the kids in the car in this stuff. I'll wait for Chris to get home then I'll head out.

Thanks for all the compliments on the shirt and the model

Stay safe!!!! :wizard: :wizard: If it's going to be really bad, would the restaurant ever close?

Nick had his awards ceremony this morning and he did receive High Honors.

Congrats to Nick! You'll have to keep him humble as he ages. ;)

Me and the kids. Our APs will still be valid so I wanted to get another trip out of them. I won't do the dining plan, and may or may not do the DDE. Does that work on CS or only TS meals?

The DDE works pretty much at all TS spots, and will work at some CS locations where there aren't any TS restaurants (like the food courts at the values and FQ - used to also work at SSR and the AK, but now that there are TS restaurants in both those places, don't know if that's still the case). We are home from the wisdom teeth extraction. She is doing quite well. She keeps saying "I didn't cry!" That is a big accomplishment because she was truly scared. She brought her teddy bear with her in the car (it was wrapped up in her blanket). The first time she was fine but the first one was so bad that she has really been dreading this. She has had a chocolate malt and a vicodin. She is now sitting in the recliner with frozen peas on each side.

sounds like a lovely lunch!!

Glad it went better!!

I seen that, I am hoping when it gets closer they will add them. Do you remember when they announced the Aug. dates last year?

I could always go in May by myself :confused3
No I don't remember when they were announced however they did have the hours as Mk closing at 7pm before announcing anything.

I did it!!! I just booked 4 nights at the Beach Club, Aug. 11-15!!!! :yay::Pinkbounc
Congrats!!!!!!!!! But now thats another person I am going to miss!:sad1:

Poor kid!!! Hmmmm a chocolate malt & a vicodin sound like heaven right now!:lmao:

Vicki - glad things went relatively well today!

Where did you find the Aug. hrs? They are not posted on the Dis yet.
Never mind I found them

Vicki - I hope she continues to improve quickly. :wizard:

So I've been looking through restaurants to get an idea of where to eat. I'm wanting to try new things. Which do you think is better....Tony's or The Plaza? Rose and Crown or Biergarten? How is the dinner at 1900 Park Fare? We've only done bfast there.

I think Beaches and Cream and the Cape May Clambake are a given!

for me:

Plaza
Biergarten

don't care for 1900 PF...(but I think I am the minority)

I was thinking the same thing, Anne Marie!! :lmao: :lmao:

Hope she continues to do well, Vicki!

Hmmm - I haven't done Tony's, but Jonathan and I were very pleasantly surprised by The Plaza in December. The prices are very reasonable (particularly with the DDE!), and the food was really good and plentiful. We're definitely going back! The only downside was that it's such a small restaurant, I think it's easier to have a wait there, even with an ADR. We had to wait about 20 mins for our table - although I was happy to see that Katherine McPhee had to wait, too! (She was there for the parade taping, and didn't get seated until after us, and had to wait outside, too!)

We  R&C! My favorite WS restaurant. We haven't done Biergarten, but that's mainly because it just doesn't hold much interest for us, although I hear it's good for kids.

I've only done b-fast at PF, too. However, I was just listening to one of the DIS podcasts last night, and they had a good review of the dinner on there. They said the dinner menu had improved a lot, and the stepsisters and Lady Tremaine are a hoot!

My choices would be Tonys and Rose and Crown. But Biergarten might be more fun for the kids. Hoping to do 1900 Park in October!

I am trying to do the same thing this year..try some new TS. I am going to book The Plaza for Aug (Read some great reviews), Tony's still gets mixed. My kids love love love Beirgarten..must do every trip for all of us. R&C is good but it didn't knock our socks off. We actually liked the fish & chips CS place better.

I think Beaches and Cream and the Cape May Clambake are a given!
Oh yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are eating at 1900 PF (dinner) in April so I'll let you know then. Supposed to be fun..we ate there a few years ago but it was the old menu & not the stepsisters dinner.

We also have Yak & Yeti booked for April..that might be one to try.

Mostly TS, but some CS as Lindsay already showed.

My kids love Beaches and Cream for desert and ESPN club for atmosphere and food

I'm glad that things went well. I have quite the picture of her in my head sitting in the chair with her blanket, teddy bear and peas :rotfl: Hopefully she will continue to feel fine. When Nick had 2 permanent teeth removed last week he did fine after the first few hours. The next day you would never have known he had anything done. :wizard:

your ticker looks like you already made up your mind! :rotfl:

We used to go around my birthday in July or Kristin's birthday in August. Temps were horrible, but really not any worse than here! And crownds varied a LOT. I think with your knowledge of the parks you will be fine!

I agree with Elin. WDW if hot in July and August, but no worse than at home. In fact one of the weeks we were there last year was cooler than it was here :confused3
