DDA Chapter 3

Checking in...

Not sure when I'll be able to check back in with you guys.

I told a couple of you on this thread last week that I believed I was pregnant....which I am.

Unfortunately, it has turned out to what doctors believe is an ectopic pregnancy. So joy has turned into sadness/fear very quickly in this household. Not really sure what the future holds right now....I am on daily monitoring...if levels do not decrease on their own I am facing possible surgery maybe even emergency surgery if the pain persists. As awful as it sounds, the better thing would be to have have a natural miscarriage......and unless something resolves very quickly, there will be no Disney trip.

Bill is completely out of his mind right now....after the doctor pumped him full of the ectopic risks (mainly the death one) he has been hovering all over me.

I did instruct him to call Marti & Marci should something happen.

Well, there you have it.

Kristine:hug: :wizard: and prayers

Yesterday I managed to clean both bathrooms and do 3 loads of laundry. All 5 kids were home as school was cancelled due to icy roads. We got about 5 inches of snow before it switched over to freezing rain. Chris called around 9 AM to warn me that I probably wouldn't get out of our driveway :scared1: I ended up shoveling the big pile at the end of the drive that the snowplow left and with all the rain and warming temps I was able to get to work.

It started snowing again just a few minutes ago. We are expected to get 6 - 12 inches. Now I wonder if they will cancel school early :confused3 Colby has school at 11:30 this morning and he is supposed to have a speech assessment, hopefully that goes as planned as it has already be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

Snowboarding is planned for tonight. I am praying that the roads stay safe enough to get us there and back and for the program not to cancel.

Elizabeth...What place did DS take in the science fair. I must have missed it.

I'm off of here until tonight. Have a great DDA Day

Good morning!

It was"Kids Night on Broadway" last night. Katie & I went to see Hairspray. George Wendt (from Cheers) was Edna Turnblat (the mom). He made the show..he was great. The rest was o.k. not a blockbuster but Katie absolutely LOVED it!! Thought it was the best thing ever. We got home at midnight & surprisingly I am not that tired..I guess it will hit me later!;)

that is so cool!!! Cassidy will be very jealous!!! She is hoping that the mission trip includes a Broadway show (it probably will).

I love George Wendt....I can totally see him as Edna!!:goodvibes

We dodged a bullet last night. The storm system that pushed through at about 1:30 a.m. (setting off our sirens) was responsible for spawning 60 tornados, and the current death toll is 44 (in three states) and rising.

A blanket of prayers for everyone today!

I wondered where you all were in that mess!! So glad you all are safe...I'll be praying for your area!!

Last night with the boards down I actually, get this........

talked to Cassidy:lmao: :lmao:

We had a good long discussion on many topics from where all of you live (she's trying to figure out where to start looking at schools), to politics (she has some well formed views:goodvibes ), to what was happening on The Biggest Loser.

How is it teenagers be all sweet and talkative one day and the next they are the biggest bears to deal with???

Congrats to Jen and Tammi on personal milestones and Deb for post 3000. :)

Elizabeth, 3rd place, woo hoo!

Debbie, :wizard: for your appointment today.

Continued prayers for Kristine!

Robyn and Anne Marie, sounds like you and your kiddos had fun last night!

Tammi, prayers for your dad!

Tia, have fun party-planning! Chick-fil-a, YUM!

Elin, yay for Kathrin! I wouldn't have been too pleased with Kevin had he shredded the chicken and mixed it all together. I prefer to have a say with how much sauce I add to my rice. ;)

Dinner was a hit, with everyone except my niece (but she's a constant crabby-patty, so we ignored her complaints. :upsidedow ). This was the recipe I used:

6 boneless chicken breasts (cut into thirds, lengthwise)
1 bottle Catalina dressing
1 small jar peach preserves
1 packet Lipton onion soup

It simmered in the crockpot for 6 hours on low. I served it with brown rice, veggies, and rolls. Yummy!

I'm going to have to take a break from the crockpot today, since my fridge is bursting at the seams with leftovers.

Hope everyone has a good day! :wave2:

Tammi-

I've been thinking about your situation with Nicholas...we always had the opposite problem. But, my thinking was along the lines that most kiddos speed through work when it's a group setting because they like being first and it took until about 3rd grade for it to sink in that going back and checking your answers is an okay thing to do. Since it's only happening at school this is probably one the teacher should handle with you just reminding Nicholas it's okay to take a minute to look over his work at school the same way you help him do it at home.

Thank you! Shockingly, Matty slept through all the noise! I'm not complaining! :)

Sounds like you had a nice evening with Cassidy! :goodvibes

Sounds like it! However, why couldn't I ever find a playgroup that had that problem (timing with elementary kids)?!?! I couldn't get anyone to schedule something past 10am so that we could make it. Even when they were 3 and 4yo 10:30 was as late as anyone would do something.

Princess is busy every morning except Friday, and Fridays we usually do breakfast with the other nannies so finding a morning to do play group would be tough. Since Princess naps at school we can do things at 3:30, I just don't want to fight off swarms of elementary kids at a McDonald's. Kind of like going to the park that is directly across from the school. I find that the elementary kids are not supervised very well so they really run over the little guys. Princess and I can have a much nicer time on our own going places that aren't packed with older kids. I want her to have interaction with other kids her own age, but she gets 2 days of that at school so play group isn't quite so important. She also sees other kids at gymnastics. She doesn't interact with the play group kids anyway. :confused3 She prefers her classmates.

Jennifer, Janet, Bernadette & Tammi - We are booked for dinner at Cape May on 8/14/08 at 5:45 PM. Our only other choice was 8:55 or separate tables. Hopefully that works for everyone! :thumbsup2
Thanks Elizabeth

Well said so I will just say Ditto

We had some crazy lightening and some of the longest thunder crashes I've ever heard. Luckily, it didn't get any worse than that in our area. Glad that you all are safe! Prayers for everyone else hit by the nastiness of that storm system.

Well, the party shopping list is made and I think we're doing to go take care of that as soon as I can get my pajama-loving girl dressed. (It's not terribly wrong that we often go out with her still in her jammies, right. ;) Luckily, she wears the fleece pants/shirt combo so I figure it's not much different than clothes.) Have a good day everyone!

Thanks, Theresa. Sounds like some good advice. Congrats on your 'chat' last night. Your baby is growing up!

Thanks for the recipe, Amy.

:wizard: :grouphug: to all those in the midwest.

I swear, we must be having the only weather that is tolerable. I should bite my tongue as I say this, but our winter has been very mild. February is usually our worst month and so far it has been beautiful. It's going to dip into the 30s this weekend but then bounce right back to the mid-upper 40s. I'll take that anyday compared to what the rest of you are having!

So are we just going to keep posting on this thread until it disappears or they lock it? :confused3

I thought Alex said we can go to 250 pages, didn't he? :confused3 Maybe not.

Tia - I don't think too much about seeing kids in pajamas. If the mom is carrying the child I wonder if the child is sick, though! Princess goes to swimming lessons in her pajamas and I dress her when she is finished. We saw a kid the other day in a Spider Man Halloween costume and bedroom slippers walking through a parking lot with his mother. :rolleyes1

DH called the dealership about canceling our gap insurance and they told him we need to have a letter from Nissan verifying that the account is paid in full. THAT is a useful thing to know, since we don't HAVE a letter like that! :sad2: At least he called before he drove out there!

Yesterday I was mom to the kid in the firefighters outfit at the mall - jacket, helmet and ax, oh yeah and pretend hose. She was fully dressed underneath and always has regular shoes on. Well, sometimes they are caterpillar boots, but never slippers. I would worry about her getting hurt with those.
