DDA Chapter 26

Should be interesting to see what happens...There are three airports by me that would be hit - all within an hour and 45 minutes of each other. Two service Airtran, two service SW...the smaller airport just renovated for Airtran too.

Dulles and BWI service both Airtran ans SW, but Reagan and Richmond only have Airtran. I'm hoping this might be a good thing, no? How long do these acquisitions usually take? Should I hold out hope that I might not have baggage fees in Dec.?

I have a feeling it will take longer than that, but who knows? I have been wrong before and certainly will be again. It has not been approved by the Feds yet, so that is a hurdle they have to get over before any merging can happen.

I think for us it is a good thing. Richmond Airport was in the running for the SW account back in the early 2000s but Norfolk got it instead. They have been hoping to get SW in there ever since. This is the easiest way for it to happen.

I also hope that having non-stop routes in place with AirTran already out of Dulles and National that SW will adopt some of those instead of getting rid of all the non-stops like they did with their own flights out of Dulles earlier this year. I am hoping that having SW in DC will make the rates more like those out of BWI.

Mainly I am excited to have SW out of Richmond. Except for the business class seats which we love to book with points. I will take lower fares and no baggage fees over that though.

Kristine - I am delighted that all is going well at home with Jenna and the family. Of course they love her!

I got the crib put together, have the mattress pad and one of the crib sheets a friend gave us in the dryer. Slowly getting the house put back together.

The United/Continental merger was announced in April, approved by the Feds in August, by the shareholders in September and hoping to be complete by October 2010. But that was also a merger - this is an acquisition who knows.

We all hope its a good thing - and I hope it will end up working for the better for many! Even those in TX! :teeth:

The one article I saw said 18-24 months, other articles have said "transition complete by 2012". I would imagine there will be airports phased out, routes altered, etc. before they get it all sorted out.

So glad that things are going well. It must be nice to have just her home today. A little break from all the excitement of the weekend for both of you :goodvibes

Beautiful pictures, Tia! She's adorable, and so is Terra!! You look amazing! How come I'm the only woman in the world who looks like crap after giving birth!?!?

Kristine - Jenna is beautiful!!! Hope you are doing well!!

Thanks, Glynis! I think everything just moved too quickly for me to look too bad. ;) The Friday morning multiple people were telling me how rested I looked. I looked in the mirror and wondered how bad the other moms looked if I was "well-rested".

She is beautiful. You all look so happy. I don't think I've ever seen a picture of Phil. He's handsome ;) I hope you're enjoying every second with that precious little one:goodvibes

They are a rarity it seems! Too many people have told me that they questioned his existence at one point or another because of lack of pictures and "sightings".

Thanks for all the well wishes! It's been a crazy day. My water broke at 4:45 am. Called the doc then headed in to the shower and packed up some last minute stuff. Checked into the hospital at 6:00 am and she was born at 9:01. It was unbelieveably quick. I'm thrilled I did it via VBAC and I feel pretty good. She weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces, 19.5 inches. Lots of dark hair. Cord was wrapped around her neck twice....that was scary. Other than that it was a perfect delivery and we are over the moon in joy. Will post pics when we get home.

Can't wait to see the pictures!

I'm off to work. Word has it that we've been very busy with foliage. I guess we shall see. I'm bartending so I may not notice it as much as the waitstaff. Chris is away this week so I'm only able to waitress on Friday and Saturday night. Too bad I couldn't get a few more shifts, but it is what it is.

My favorite Uncle has passed away. I had asked for prayers a while back for him. He was the only man that could hug me like my dad. He was a very special person. Keep his family in your prayers as they deal with his loss. It is going to be very hard on everyone.
