We went to the Big E today. It was so crowded. People say that WDW gets crowded, but this was so much worse. You could literally only take 1/2 steps all day and if the person in front of you stopped you were certain to bump into them. I haven't been in 30 years and I think I can go another 30 years before my next trip :lmao: It was a new experience for Chris and the boys and something different to do, but all in all it was expensive and HOT

What is the Big E?

What is the Big E?

It's the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, MA. It has exhibitions from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I'm sure the exhibits were interesting, we just couldn't get close to most of them. The Budweiser Clydesdales were there, amazing animals. They had pony rides, camel and elephant rides too plus all of the usual carnival rides and 100s of food carts.

Where is Lizzy going on her field trip? Give yourself a break on the sewing. I'm sure she has lots of great things to take and you need to rest up for your busy week ahead.
Well...the last time I made anything was some PJ shorts for Joe for our May trip so I think I've taken a long break from sewing. I really want to at least make the pillow case. Lizzy thinks the travel pillow I bought on Jet Blue will be big enough and way easier to pack. It shouldn't take long to make a simple pillow case. I went through some fabrics and have a couple of choices for Lizzy to look at. I think I've scrapped the idea of PJ's even if they don't take too long to make.

I have to bring Emma to the doctor tomorrow for a flu shot. They called and said she was high risk (I assume due to her pneumonia last year). She's saying her ear hurts so maybe they won't be able to do it tomorrow. This is the first I've heard of her ear hurting.:confused3 I don't know if since they called her "high risk" if they will allow her to get the mist or if they will make her get the shot. Funny thing is Lizzy had her annual visit the day after Emma and they offered Lizzy the vaccine so we had her get it and asked for Joe to get it the next week. They didn't offer at Emma annual visit. I guess they distracted by the heart murmur and curved spine they saw that day.

Here is where Lizzy is going. It looks really cool but I wish the weather forecast was better. It will be wierd to have her gone all week. I've been away without her but I've always been able to call her.

I looked on mapquest-they say it is 43.82 miles from my office-52 minutes but I'm sure much longer at rush hour after work.

Thanks for all the well wishes! It's been a crazy day. My water broke at 4:45 am. Called the doc then headed in to the shower and packed up some last minute stuff. Checked into the hospital at 6:00 am and she was born at 9:01. It was unbelieveably quick. I'm thrilled I did it via VBAC and I feel pretty good. She weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces, 19.5 inches. Lots of dark hair. Cord was wrapped around her neck twice....that was scary. Other than that it was a perfect delivery and we are over the moon in joy. Will post pics when we get home.
I'm so happy to read that your delivery was quick-you certainly deserved that. Can't wait to see photos of Jenna!

DH & I went once. I don't remember it being crowded but it might have been a weekday. I think it was before we were married-we had our 26th anniversary Wednesday so that was almost 30 years ago.

Bernadette the camp looks like it will be fun. Hopefully the weather is better then they're predicting.:wizard:

I will say that the foliage was gorgeous on our drive today. Lots of reds this year. I may find some pretty spots to take photos if I have time tomorrow.

Last night our University had a Music Showcase for Parents' Weekend. All the music groups in the department performed and it was quite nice! We were just a small portion of the 2+ hour show.

Sadly, after the Philharmonic performed, the conductor suffered chest pains and had to be taken by rescue squad to the hospital. He was back stage at the time and surprisingly most of the audience was not aware of the situation, despite the arrival of two police cruisers, the rescue squad and a firetruck. The show continued, uninterrupted! I think he probbaly had a heart attack, as his color was so ashen and he was completely out of it, for the most part. He is a young man... younger than me, anyway, by 10 years probably.

I am sure that our uncommon weather with temps in the high 90s this whole week did not help the situation. It was stifling on that stage and I was singing this time, not conducting. So, if you have a chance to send up a thought for his recovery today, please and thank you.

Elin :wizard:

Our neighbor across the street was burning brush this morning and it got out of control. Apparently several fire trucks responded, I was sleeping and never heard a thing :scared1: The siding on the back side of their house is melted. He neighbor has some second degree burns on his face and head from trying to put the fire out with a hose while waiting for help. They were really lucky as flames apparently shot 25 feet into the air.

We went over and helped my parents close their pool this morning. Chris is now going over the drivers manual with Nick as he goes for his permit on Wednesday. Of course Chris will be out of town for work this week so I get to take him. I'm a little nervous about taking him out driving for the first time, but I certainly will let him if he gets his permit.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. I have been watching football and baseball all day--i LOVE sundays like this! My Phillies lost, but my cowboys won so im happy!

Just wanted to check in since it was so quiet here today :)

Glynis=I meant to congratulate Jacob and all "your boys" yesterday for achieving their arrows!:woohoo:

Elin-prayers for your conductor.:wizard:

Lizzy is all packed. I did make her a pillowcase and PJ pants. She's growing like a weed so all the PJ's she had are really too small-OK for wearing to sleep at home but I'm sure she's happy to have some that fit to take to camp and she'll be bringing a little bit of me with her. She was a bit upset tonight when she realized I would only be a chaperone on Thursday night. She thought I would be there every night. I made the PJ's out of polar fleece I had so it went quick because I didn't have to finish the seams. It was nice to use the fabric too. I think I bought it Black Friday of 2008 to make PJ's.

Emma got her flu vaccine. They did make her get the shot. The doctor said she had a history of wheezing-in December with pneumonia and in July. I said I really don't remember any wheezing in July-thought maybe I was loosing my mind. The doctor stepped out for a minute and when she came back I asked her if it was July 2009 and she said yes but still thought the shot was a better choice for Emma.

We missed church since we were at the doctor's office but we made it to the church just before church let out and they did an animal blessing so the girls were happy to see that. I made Lizzy come with me because DH was brining Joe early to learn how to help out with the video cameras they use to broadcast the service on the local cable station. Joe really enjoyed that.

Good morning DDA!

My turn to be last at night and first in the am.

Just waiting a few minutes before bringing Lizzy and her friend (who's parents work) to the bus that will take them to camp. Both girls have colds. It is a dreary day here and chance of rain everyday this week. Wednesday is the best with just a 20% chance. Hope they manage to stay dry.

I have far less meetings scheduled this week so hopefully I'll get more work done and be all set for the week of meetings the following week.

Just got this in an email from Southwest Airlines!

As one of our most valued Customers, I wanted you to be among the first to know the exciting news that Southwest Airlines has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire AirTran Holdings, Inc., a parent company of AirTran Airways (AirTran). Although the closing of the deal depends on a number of approvals, we're all very excited about what it can mean for the Customers, Employees, Communities, and Shareholders of both organizations.

If approved, the acquisition will allow Southwest to offer low fares and exceptional Customer Service in more markets and to more loyal Customers like you.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

It is finally raining here. And it will continue for the next few days. I hope it dries up enough by Thursday morning or I won't be able to cut the grass until October 11th or 12th. Our neighbors will love us by then.

I haven't heard any updates on Dr. Bartram, so I think that might be good news. Thanks for thinking of him, everyone.

I got that too. I hope it means no baggage fees on Airtran!
