DDA Chapter 26

Terra and I spent the afternoon in Cahokia Mounds in Illinois (http://cahokiamounds.org/). Apparently this Native American community grew to 10-20,000 people in 1000AD. They had an archeology day today so we went to check it out. We got to help wash artifacts found on actual dig sites around the area. Terra also learned a Native American game, threw a spear with a spear thrower, knapped some flint (and it's almost actually arrowhead shaped ;) ), and talked to a lot of other artisans who do work similar to things that the native people would have done. It was pretty cool. Sometime after Deva comes, we'll have to go over there again and actually climb the biggest mound. Since it is a 100ft of steps upward that wasn't going to happen today. :rolleyes1 It was a lot of fun though!

sounds neat

So that's what woke me up this morning! ;)

How do you go once you leave I-95? Do you drive on I-95 the whole way through NJ and NY and get I-91 outside of New Haven?

That is what we've done the last few trips. Previous trips have had us run different routes, but 95 to 91 is the most direct route. The tolls add up fast though.

Happy weekend everyone!

I've loved reading about everyone's trips - for those of you with pics and/or trip reports, keep them coming!

Lots of prayers for your dad, and the rest of your family, Tammi, as you guys figure out what is going on. :wizard::wizard:

Kristine - hang in there. I'm praying for you! :wizard::wizard:

Deb - glad you guys had a safe trip home. Wow - 3 weeks?! Can't wait to hear all about it. I hope the circulation issues end up to be nothing but being cooped up in a car! Good luck with the job search - I have no bright ideas right now, but it seems like you have such a great skill set, I'm sure you'll find something at which you can be successful.

Bernadette - so glad to hear your surgery went well! How wonderful to know that all the pain and aggravation appears to have been worth it!

Elin - happy belated b-day to Kristin, and a "hi" to both Kristin and Kathrin, too. I was just thinking about Party of the Senses the other day - perhaps one day I can get back to one!

Vicki - good luck with your shopping! I'm partial to the red one, myself. :goodvibes

Jennifer and Tia - lots of :wizard::wizard::hug::hug:to both of you as you suffer through these hot, hot days we're having. I hope you're able to find time for rest!

Things are busy, busy around here as usual. Our Disney trip is coming up and I still have a lot to do, but the good news is that I was out by myself all day today running errands, and I got so much knocked out. I'm able to breathe a bit easier tonight!

I'll check in again soon. Sweet dreams, DDA! :cloud9:

Its so great to see you--I was thinking about you guys the other day and meant to PM you! Your trip is coming up!! I cant wait to hear about it!!

Elizabeth - thanks for the update on Kristine and Jenna.

Kristine - thinking about you!

Tia - sounds like a fun day at the Indian mounds

Tammi - I hope your Dad is feeling better today and you have some answers

I would think that would be the worst route for traffic too. I know, around the DC and NYC areas traffic on 95 is brutal anymore, at any time of day.

We have never gone the whole way to Boston on 95. We usually end up going up through PA and into NY across the Tappan Zee Bridge and then angling up through CT from there. Not sure which route we are taking on Thursday yet!

Good Morning

Kristine - Hang in there, I'm praying that when Jenna is born you'll be able to bring her home right away

Tammi - hope to hear some good news from you

Today looks to be a busy day, we're watching the grandkids and Aubrey keeps you hopping, she's non stop

Hi, Lindsay! Nice to see you on here this morning. :) Not long before Austin's first WDW trip! How fun and exciting. You know you will be ready. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Jen - Have fun at the game today. The weather should be just about perfect!

I helped Kristin hang curtains and load up one of her bookshelves yesterday. Then we went out shopping for fabric or something to cover the sofa and loveseat that Ashley's parents gave them to use. I think they could actually have them cleaned more cheaply than they can recover them! But they are blue and the girls are going for a vintage art look in the apartment. Colors would be oranges, golds and some peacock blue. The 80s country blue set just doesn't fit with what they are looking for.

Debbie - Have fun with your little ones today!

OK, so I'm having a total mental block here, how do I change the link in my signature to a title instead of the actual address?

Type the words you want it to say, then highlight those words, click on the picture of the globe with the link above the text box, then add the link into the box that pops up and click OK.

Lindsay- Good to see you have fun on your trip.

Deb- Glad you had a good trip, hope the health issues are nothing major.

Elin- Have a good trip North.

Kristine- Sending good thoughts your way that Jenna can stay in place a while longer.

I am officially coming out as a DDA...I love having a creative outlet. I'm slowly learning photoshop. With our first WDW vacation coming in a few months, I hope to still keep up designing stuff afterwards for fun.

Welcome to our little family! It's great to have new "faces".

I am Tia - mom to 7yo Terra and Deva due Oct 3. We live in St. Louis and I do childcare at home. We've got our fingers crossed for Deva's first trip next November with our last visit having been in Sept of 2008. We do get to DL once a year or so, though, when visiting in family.
