DDA Chapter 25

And now a few pictures from Terra's exciting day today. We went to Grant's Farm which is the former home of Ulysses S Grant from right after he got married. The Anheuser Busch family lives there now. The area is also open for visitors with a drive-thru animal park and small "zoo" in the middle.

Terra LOVES to feed the baby goats their bottles here.

Today she got a special treat though. Earlier in the week I'd read about a new "VIP Elephant Tour" that they offer. It's $5 per person but sounded like it might be worth it. Plus, since you only pay to park, no admission, sometimes I'm willing to pay for something extra here. Terra was THRILLED with the surprise...

This is their African bull elephant. He's 11 feet tall and 13,400lbs. I'm really impressed with the time they took for the "tour". Each family went to see Bud individually. We probably spent 5-7 minutes with him, if not more. We fed him a good 10 times, then got to pet him for a minute, posed for several pictures and then fed him some more. The trainers/keepers didn't rush us at all and kept encouraging us to do/feed more. Bud seemed to love it too. He'd reach out for your hand and make cute raspberry noises asking for more food. It was really cool being right there and Terra was so excited the whole time. Definitely worth the extra money this time, especially since we don't have a lot of time to ourselves lately. It made for a really special day.

My oldest is now in New Mexico and by Saturday we will be in Maryland.

So much happened this weekend...Jim decided he could grab my butt in the middle of Walgreens...he should be happy I held back and didn't turn around and whack him with the All bottle in my hand.

Cassidy was bitten by one of the dogs here where we are staying...she has eleven stitches in her chin. She handled it like a pro...I cried more for that than getting her off yesterday. I have raised an amazing child.

I hope Cassidy heals well. That is scary! You are all definitely starting a new adventure, and you have it in your power to make it a great one!

hmm, we went to the hospital yesterday but still had nausea.

I can't remember if I said CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am sorry that you have so much nausea, though. That isn't fun.

I love all the pictures. It seems like we all found a little happiness this weekend, some by going down memory lane.


Nick found out that his date for the grad dance will be wearing a cream colored dress with a black lace top. He has been adamant that he wanted a suit so I just ordered him a black Italian suit off Amazon. It said the original price was $1499 and that it was 90% off. The pictures looked nice so hopefully it will be nice quality too. I also ordered him a cream shirt to wear with it. His date want them to get black converse sneakers and splatter paint them with cream paint. I told Nick that he might want to consider splatter painting a black tie and pocket square to match...maybe even a hat

I'm glad that she still wants to go to the grad dance with him and that it was just that things were moving a bit too fast. We haven't had too much boy/girl drama around here...or they've kept it hidden from me. I do remember when Matthew's first girlfriend broke up with him, though. It's one of those hurts you can't really help heal.

I love the idea of the paint splatters Converse and doing the matching tie and pocket square. I can't wait to see pictures.

Tia, I loved all the pictures! When I think of Terra, I still think of the "almost 4" Terra. Sometimes I forget how much all the DDA kids have grown.

Bernadette - I've been meaning to ask you something for quite a while, when we all rode TOT back in December you took a "redneck" picture of our photo, did it come out? I had put all of my things in a locker, including my camera and didn't get one.

Would that be the photo where DH's stupid arm is completely covering DS's face? I am still mad about that. At any rate, we didn't take a pic of the screen.
