I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! :wave2:

Don't forget the true meaning of the holiday tomorrow, and please wear your sunscreen!

Here is a link to encourage you to do so (Andy is one of my former students)

Our flag is all ready to hang in the morning! We definitely won't forget the reason for the holiday. Thanks to all those that have protected our country and our way of life!!!

Every year, Fredericksburg National Cemetery puts the cost of war on display. More than 16,000 white-paper luminarias burn in the darkness, representing the more than 15,000 Union soldiers interred there after the Civil War. Kristin and I joined the hundreds and hundreds of people who made the trek to see this amazing display. Boy Scout troops in our area spend hours placing and lighting the luminarias. Our local trolley company shuttles visitors from University parking lots to the cemetery. The National Park Service has personnel giving talks about the battles fought. Marines stationed at Quantico play "Taps" every 30 minutes and a hush falls over the crowd each time. It is just amazing to see. Here are a few shots I took last night.

I have seen this on TV. It is an awesome and very moving site.

The girl that Nick has gone out with a few times just texted him that she wants to just be friends. He is devastated :sad2: It is just way too hard at this age. On one day and off the next. I just hope he doesn't let this defeat his self esteem :wizard:

The camper is cleaned and the blankets are in the process of being washed. I hit the grocery store so most of the groceries are in there. Tomorrow we are working on more wood and I need to get clothes into the camper. Hunter has his last lacrosse game tomorrow night.

Hopefully, another girl will come along quickly and he'll realize that there is always another one. I'm sorry that he is hurting. I'm normally saying "Dumb boys" in my house but this time I'll throw in a "Dumb girls" for Nick's sake.

Glad you got the camper cleaned. I spent time yesterday helping Chuck with ours. We were supposed to camp this week-end but I didn't help get it ready last week-end so we couldn't.

We drove to Houghton today for the high school graduation party of the daughter of our college best friends. They are the ones that we camp and kayak with in the summer. I can't believe their baby is now a high school graduate. It was a wonderful party.

We have very, very strange weather. It has been in the 80's and 90's for a week now. That is unheard of for May. Kind of scaring me a little especially after the very unusually warm winter that we had. It was nice having the sunshine though.

How is that book? I've been looking at it, but haven't ordered it yet.

Terra made me a peanut butter and banana sandwich.:cloud9: I wasn't feeling the greatest this afternoon and she came in and offered to make me some lunch.

I personally love the book. It offers a lot of information in a unique format and does a very thorough job of pointing out the references you can find throughout WDW. Some that are very obscure. I was excited to use the book during my trip and enjoyed seeing things I never noticed related to movies. Their is a sample chapter on the website, it is the Hercules chapter, if you want to get a better idea of what the book is like.

You can get free shipping on From Screen to Theme through Monday night.

That being said, I feel it is only fair to say I won my copy, but I would have bought one anyways. I won my copy through the author's weekly live Disney show called the W.E.D.nesday.

That was so sweet of Terra.

That is a very moving luminaria presentation. Thank you to all of the soldiers who have fought and are still fighting for our freedom. But especially my Dad and Grandpa.

Good morning :)

Hope everyone has a great day.

the girls and I went up to the hospital today to see dad. He was doing pretty good. still not sure when they will let him go home. He has Chemo on Tues and Wed. so prayers that his lungs can tolerate the chemo.

I hope the chemo goes well this week! Lots of prayers and :wizard:.

I'm so sorry for Nick. It's a tough time for that age. Rachel had a boyfriend briefly a couple of months ago. She's the one that broke it off, but from the way she reacted to a little teasing from Erin, I think it was still hard for her.

I just saw a recipe for a peanut butter, banana, & raisin tortilla sandwich that I wanted to try. It sounds really good. I've never had a peanut butter / banana sandwich of any kind so it will be a new one for me. I bought bananas yesterday so that I could try it.

That sounds pretty good. Terra has a whole series of peanut (or almond) butter and tortilla recipes she's created. It started because one day she did peanut butter and chocolate chips. Now she works on variations from time to time. I have to say I don't get the appeal of the times she uses corn tortillas, but her flour tortilla ones are pretty good.

What a sweetheart you have!!! How sweet that she took care of you while you weren't feeling well.

Isn't she! She's very good to her Mama. :cloud9:

Good morning, DDA!

With NO extra kids today, Terra and I are off for some fun on our own! We're going to go to Grant's Farm to see the animals, feed the goats and who knows what else. We've got to get moving to get there right at opening though because big storms are apparently headed our way. So far Weather Channel.com is saying 50% chance by 11. If we get there at 9am opening we should beat the crowds and the weather. (Hopefully!)

After that, it's just a nice quiet day with nothing expected of anyone. The house is still reletively clean from the BBQ yesterday. Maybe a dish or two left to wash after the dishwasher gets emptied, but otherwise, we are good to go! I hear tell that the progress made on the playroom last week was destroyed by the two younger girls yesterday, but Mom found the mess first and their mothers made sure it got cleaned up so all is happy there too! (I refused to look, but I hear it was pretty ugly. :rotfl: )

Remembering those who died, so we could be free...........

Good morning. :)

It was SO nice to be able to sleep until I woke up, without an alarm clock. When I went downstairs the kids were playing the Magic Kingdom game together. Why can't they always be that nice to each other?

Today we will be heading to the pool. The temps are going to get into the 90s today. Tonight we MAY head over to our local POPS orchestra and chorus concert. We'll have to see how the day goes.

Whatever you all are doing, I hope you have a safe and happy holiday.

It's such a nice day here I wish I felt better so I could take the girls to the pool or up to the lake where their cousins are.

Elin - very pretty. :goodvibes:

Janet - That is a nice picture. She is very pretty, and Garrett is such a handsome young man.

Jennifer - maybe if you went out and got some fresh air you would feel better. I hope so.

Off to the pool!

My oldest is now in New Mexico and by Saturday we will be in Maryland.

So much happened this weekend...Jim decided he could grab my butt in the middle of Walgreens...he should be happy I held back and didn't turn around and whack him with the All bottle in my hand.

Cassidy was bitten by one of the dogs here where we are staying...she has eleven stitches in her chin. She handled it like a pro...I cried more for that than getting her off yesterday. I have raised an amazing child.:lovestruc

hmm, we went to the hospital yesterday but still had nausea.

We are watching Harry Potter now. There wasn't anything else decent on TV.

The kids and I have been watching on Harry Potter each Sunday as a lead up to the Universal Studios part of our trip.

She has already started texting him again. She just thinks they are moving too fast :confused3 She still wants to go to the grad dance with him and they'll see how things go.

Garrett & his girlfriend, Shawn :)

:wizard: Wow, your world is certainly turning upsidedown. I hope that you can find peace and happiness very soon. :wizard:For Abi's chin. That sounds like a nasty bite.
