DDA Chapter 24

Thanks for the responses. I'm leaning toward heading straight to the park. This will be our only MGM day, so I want to get there as soon as possible, to get as much accomplished as possible.

I hadn't realized that was your only DS day. In that case I would head straight to the park. The only drawback to checking into the resort in the evening is that you may get a location that you don't like and nothing else will be available. If you don't care about location then there isn't a bad side to late checkin. Getting DS done in less than a day will be a challenge in and of itself though maybe the crowds won't be bad that time of year?

Well, since there are only 5 studios total it doesn't much matter whether you like the location. They are all right there together. :rotfl2:
AND since DVC check-in is "after 4 PM" I don't think checking in online will have any impact on what time the room is ready.
When we moved to concierge from the savanna studio this summer we went to MK and put the bags with Bell Services. When we came back to check in the guy said our room had been ready since 9 AM, but I wouldn't gamble on that being the case very often.

That's why I'm not too concerned about checking in early. We get what we get and we won't throw a fit. Of course, my waitlist never came through, so we are in concierge for 2 nights and then savannah view 2 nights. Now I'm kicking myself for making this such a short trip. But I was concerned about the kids missing too much school right after Christmas break. It will be a fast trip, but jam-packed!

We took our very first trip in January, and did a February trip the year after. The weather was crummy on both of those trips, and they were both only like 3 or 4 nights. I have decided I am not a fan of short trips. Now there is NO WAY DS could miss any days. This month is going to be INSANELY busy. Next month will be busy as far as play rehearsals and his Arts magnet audition, but this month has play rehearsals plus a bunch of other stuff. Hopefully March will be nice and calm. While I gnaw my nails down to nubs waiting for the letter saying if he got in. :rolleyes1

The Linus project sounds nice, but seeing as I have no skills, I am thinking of a food pantry worker. I can't believe you have to be at least 55 to make food for Habitat for Humanity. :confused3

You don't need any skills to make a tied fleece blanket-the Linus project website has directions. But fleece can be expensive.

I called a doctor today. I have an appointment for 11:30 tomorrow. Hopefully I can kick this thing before my trip.

Hi DDA! :dance3::dance3:

First thing is, I must snap a picture of my fireplace before I take it down. The cards from my DDA family here on the thread outnumbered my friends IRL something like 3 to 1. :woohoo::woohoo:

I know I don't post as much as I used to, but I really am very fond of the people on this thread. And I want to thank all of you for the adorable cards. I watch your families grow each year. It is such a joy.:goodvibes:goodvibes:love::love:

Okay, on to less mush and more whine, my specialty. Does anyone think Airtran is going to come out with another coupon? I know as soon as I pull the trigger and purchase the tickets, there will be a special.

I went to the website costtodrive and found out it would be $100 each way to drive. Well for $156 I'll go ahead and fly. 20 hours each way of are we there yet and let's stop at McDonald's every mile and I won't be a happy camper. So we'll fly.

As soon as I purchase airfare, I'll let him know what we are going to do.

Okay, opionions please. Currently I have us at AKL in a savannah view villa. Is the sofabed reasonably easy to open? The one at SSR was a bear to open. Once we opened the one at BCV, we didn't put it back. We had NO room to walk around. My DGS loved OKW. There he would have his own bed all the time. But I really want to try AKL and think he would love looking at the animals.

What do you think???

Steffy,

Since he's only six you could probably get away with putting the sheets over the couch cushions and letting him sleep there, I know Brandon can sleep anywhere. Then you wouldn't have to deal with pulling the sofa bed out at all, just a thought.

Here are some shots from our December trip. We hardly had time to catch our breath from Disney before we went to NY. Our dates were 12/17-12/23. It was crowded but I would do it again. We got to ride many rides (got there at park open & used FP). We mainly went for the Christmas festivities & really enjoyed it.

This was our first off property stay & it really went well. Comfort Inn was very basic but about 3 minutes from the WDW gate which was very convenient. We arrived & stopped at DTD, walked up to TRex for dinner. Food was good & service great. My kids loved this place.

Chuck and I plan on checking out T-rex in March. Thanks for the pictures.

I hate science fair. I know that comes as a huge shock to all of you.

Research is done, all of the stuff we need to do EXCEPT the display board is complete. I did BUY a board, so we have it, it just isn't done yet. OK, it isn't STARTED yet. So I look at the stupid guidelines and it says the stupid project is due WEDNESDAY! :scared1: ACK! :faint: The Science Fair isn't until the week of MLK day. She can not be serious about wanting the whole thing - display board and all - on Wednesday. She can't be. I think we could pull it together by Wednesday, but if he takes it to school on Wednesday and it gets shuffled around for 2 weeks it will look like crap by the time the Fair rolls around. Not to mention that the research folder and display board may become separated. Not cool. In the past we have been able to attach everything to the board, but this year he has an observation notebook and other stuff. Grr. I HATE science fair.

Hmmm, I seem to remember hearing this before from someone? Now who was that?? Oh yeah, it was you last year, and the year before, and the ... how long have we been friends again? :lmao:

Oh phooey. I'll send it right away. I didn't write down who I had already sent to and then when I got the new set, I sent to everyone I thought I had missed.

My travel dates are March 6 thru March 10 or 11th. My grandson and I are headed to Disney World instead of my DGD's cheer competition. Twelve hours of sitting on a stadium bench to watch her for two minutes is just not in our future. He's 6 and I promised him a trip to Disney sometime, so this sounds just as good as any. I am only 60 days out and haven't even thought of food.

I'm going to need a ton of help. I will not discuss this on FB. At all.

Last year in March the family went to Hilton Head for spring break and almost froze to death. What will the temp be in Disney in March? He's got plenty of energy and is usually very good for me when his sister is not around.

My son won't go to Disney right now, so it will just be him and me. He has a 4 day ultimate park hopper and 5 or six "specials" water park and Disney Quest days. I've never been to Disney Quest. My DD said he really enjoyed it when we were there last time. I have a Disney Quest ticket, so that will be one day. He LOVES Disney World. We'll have to stop and see Lightning Mc Queen and Mater. His bed and Tv are Lightning Mc Queen.

He loves Soarin and Test Track. I need to plan our days. But before I do anything, I need airfare!!!!

Geez Louise I'm looking at the news about all this airline stuff. Elin, did you drive to Disney one time??? Robyn, you drove to Disney with kids, what do you do to keep them occupied?

Oh, I'm about to be a real PITA!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

When are you going to be there on the 6th? We leave on the 7th. I know you'll be with your grandson but we to see you I know that Chuck would be willing to hunt you down!!!! :lmao:

My first night back at work in 6 weeks went really well. I was a bit nervous that I would be rusty, but that wasn't the case and I lucked into a large party at the end of the night that made it a very profitable Monday night. What a relief. My boss forgot to put me on the schedule this week so a friend gave me her shift for tonight. I have no idea when i will work again, but everyone knows that I'm available so maybe I'll get a call or two:thumbsup2

Hunter's first day back at school was good. He said he was a bit lost in Science, but otherwise all was well :thumbsup2

Would it be worth considering paying cash for a regular safari view room given the great discounts that are out???

:woohoo:Congrats on a good night!

I still can't get over how well Hunter is doing!:cool1::banana::yay:

Stephanie, we have been going the 1st week of March for the last 5 or 6 years. We have had cooler fall type weather and had very warm summer weather. We have never needed more than our fall jackets. Usually it is like early summer weather for us - warm but comfortable.

Stephanie! I got your card today and it is so cute!!! I love it!!!! Thanks for helping get rid of my January blahs!!!

I'm starting up my last class for medical coding. I opened the books today, and seriously, I think I might be in over my head! There are 6 books for one class, and the instructions for the class are very intimidating! Please send me good thoughts, and pixie dust, if you can spare it!

You can do it. Just take it one assignment at a time, don't think of it as 6 books, but as little projects. You can do it:wizard::wizard:
