DDA Chapter 23

Today was a very interesting day. Please keep me in your thoughts. All is well on my homefront but there is some majorly interesting things happening at work. It all comes down to holding staff accountable. It has not been a fun place to work for the most part but it can't be helped. Times are tough and we have to find creative ways to get the job done. I remind myself every morning that we have not laid anyone off and everything I'm doing is to keep that trend going! I sure wish the employees realized that.

 Good luck with all the tension and the hard work ahead of you!

The crud is going around here, my DD and Aubrey are sick, I've got a cough, and DH had two teeth pulled yesterday, we're just a pitiful bunch.

Oh, no! :grouphug: I hope all of you get to feeling better very, very soon.

I finally got around to loading up my photopass pictures. Here are some from this summer.

Anne Marie - Great pictures! I love the balloon shot.

Vicki - I hope things ease up at work soon.

Good morning, DDA!

Oh look, it's raining. AGAIN! I swear we've gotten over 12" of rain in the last week. It's not helping my motivation at all! However, it is making the pot of chili I'm getting ready to start cooking sound really good. Maybe some more pumpkin bread will be in order as well.

Anne Marie - the PhotoPass pictures are GREAT!

I don't think I posted an update after Brendan's (my BIL) last set of appointments. His transplant doctor was not pleased with the current status of his fatigue and other benchmarks of health. They are waiting to get some blood work numbers back, but he wasn't expecting them to be great. Between those aspects and his added diagnosis of colitis (ulcerative, I think) and one other thing, it looks like he will probably be going on this transplant list sometime next year. He also wants Brendan to cut out one of his jobs after the new year. He currently works part-time over night at UPS and part-time at Cabella's. The doctor wants Cabella's to go as soon as possible after the holidays in order to allow more rest and less stress. (As it is, Brendan often sleeps 2-4 hours at a time a couple of times a day.) The loss of one job will make money a little tight, but then they can also take Kaylin out of her daycare/school, or cut back on days, as he would be home with her.

In addition, he has 3 new medicines that he has to take. Two were recommended in the past, but the doctor said he didn't recommend them strongly enough to justify the $300+/month (after insurance) cost. Now with the added diagnoses they are imperative (one diagnosis ups the chance of colon cancer by 70% and this medicine can be extremely helpful in preventing it). Luckily, my advice proved true - by calling around to difference pharmacies, they were able to bring the total cost of the three meds down from $378 to something like $86. How there can be that much disparity, I don't know, but I'm glad they worked it out!

Now we're getting ready to do the Liver Walk St. Louis in a few weeks. Erin's Chick fil A has been able to raise some money over several fundraiser nights. The rest of us are now doing the same so hopefully we'll have some luck since only a few of us can actually walk that day.

Okay, I'm getting rambly. Sorry. Just wanted to post the latest update, even though it's not the best of news.

so where would be a good place to check out Royal Carribean cruises? Their is a Homeschool cruise leaving from Galveston on Feb. 21st. Want to see what the cabin sizes are and the prices.

Probably their website. royalcaribbean.com

You might check the site that's sponsoring the cruise too. They might have group discounts available.

My mom is still getting therapy from when she fell, I go with her and help her with it as they usually have too many people per therapists.

Today she decided to take me to lunch because I would come over after she got home from the hospital to help her with things. (isn't that what kids are supposed to too?)

So we had a nice lunch and then visited with her one sister.
