DDA Chapter 23

So I have a question for you all:

Is it common for parents to take pictures with the kids at big events like Prom and Homecoming??

I ask because I find it odd but Julia's parents (and grandparents last night:rotfl2:) and Ben's parents have done it at EVERY dance the kids have gone to. Last night they even did one with Ben & Julia and their parents all together. :rolleyes1

But I've also noticed it's about 50/50 around here and just wondered about the rest of the country.

Last night though it was just 3 sets of parents there taking pictures, I took pictures for Lauren's mom as her camera had "exhausted" batteries. :rotfl2:

Janet....are you guys due to get bad weather? We are going from 80 today down to 40's.....with some huge wind storm coming through. Grinding up the Valium for Bill's Wheaties today!!

The winds are suppose to pick up, but right now no bad weather coming our way. The temps are going to drop next week into the 30's though :scared1: I am not ready to turn the heat on yet!

When my friend Lauren got married the whole entire wedding party wore sneakers. The bride owns tons of different sneakers and she wanted everyone to be comfortable.

Love it!

Well the two formal dances that Garrett has been to so far, pictures were not taken with the parents. Gary took a picture of Garrett & I together this time, but that is just normal for us.

Thanks for all the congrats for Brandon.

We've made some good progress arond here but are not done yet, the yard is done and most of the house is done, I have one bedroom left and of course laundry is not done, I don't think it ever is.

Looks like I may be meeting Elin with a black eye, I walked right into a shelf in the bedroom and it hit me in the right eye, hard enough to knock me to my knees and bust open the eyelid. No stitches were required but advil definitely was, we'll see how it goes.

I haven't started any packing yet, but for the weekend only it really isn't a big deal. We've got a pretty busy week before we leave but that's nothing unusual either.

Ok, I'd better get back to work

Owie Debbie! Hope your eye heals quickly :wizard:

I wasn't surprised that the girls were wearing short dresses to Homecoming. That is not uncommon around here either. I was surprised at how short they were!

Debbie - I will love you even with a black eye.

I thought those dresses were too short, too. But what do I know?

Debbie, your poor eye! That sounds REALLY painful!

It's my favorite time of year. Science Fair. :headache: DS brought home this huge, evil packet. I HATE HATE HATE HATE Science Fair. And the school now has an "unacceptable" rating for science test scores, so they are REALLY pushing the science curriculum. The Science Fair is just stupid, though. The kids do the same, boring projects from the same books and websites year after year. Everybody knows the really GOOD projects are done by parents, and the judges do not enforce the rules when they judge the submissions. DS started doing projects in SECOND GRADE! He gets it! He knows the scietific method! And we are completely out of ideas. So whatever.

Elin, thank you so much for the gifts! We've run out of hangers and the paci holder at least helps me find it at this stage!

Yay! :yay: I figured you could use those things. :) And you are welcome!

Yep! i just added some clothes for him to the registry too - we have a 10% off all items left on registry coupon to use by the end of October so we"ve slowly been adding things. I may add some diapers too...

I can see the normal for you....I am talking pictures not casual (Like I see yours as) more like staged, like at a wedding. Of course, last night Julia's mom took a picture of her hair. :rotfl:Maybe it's just these nutty parents.:rotfl2:

Owie Debbie.

Elizabeth sorry about science fair, how many years will he have it?

Dresses that short have been the norm for as long as I can remember. That is why they finally instituted a dress code in a few of our scholls, well that and the damn pants hanging below the butt.

Our water is almost clear. :yay:

The rain started yesterday afternoon and has not stoped yet. Janet we have had our heat on for about 2 weeks now. :sad2:

I thought for a while that prom and homecoming "styles" had switched...when I was in high school, prom was more formal (tux's and long dresses) with homecoming more casual. I could have sworn that a few years ago that the dances kind of switched in style...looks like they are back to the way things should be!

Janet - good choice for the shirt! :teeth:

Oh Elizabeth - 45 days out John got down the luggage, and I have been getting things together. Tomorrow the landury will be done then I can start to pack if I want. :teeth:

Ouch! Hopefully it will heal quickly.

Chanon - I like your ticker. :goodvibes:

I couldn't get on the computer this morning but now it's working fine, so it must have been something with my network.

I went shopping today and got some new jeans, shoes and a few shirts. Now I should be set for a little while. Rarely do I go shopping for only MYSELF. But I was in one of those moods to spend money today.

I hate Sunday nights. Monday mornings are just around the corner.

Tammi what ticker? I just looked at Chanon's post and there is nothing there.

Edited: I see it on her last post only.
