Does anyone have any creative, unique and amazing fundraising ideas? We had an th grade parent meeting tonight and now we need to fundraise for the class trip and graduation dance. We have some ideas, but I'm wondering what works well in your communities. We are seeing that the usual wrapping paper etc sale and the fall bulb sale is not doing well this year. What is an idea that you wouldn't be able to pass up?

Not sure how well this would work, but we had a fundraiser tonight for our school. The local McDonalds gives a portion of the profit made between certain hours to our school ..I have seen this done with other fast food places and chains and have always seemed to be good results

Our PTSF (PTA) does that one periodically. I'm not sure how it does though?

Do not sell overpriced tubs of cookie dough.

Do not have a car wash on the day of Race For the Cure if it means the streets surrounding the school will all be closed.

I know the high school baseball team offers themselves up for random chores - yard work, gift wrapping for the holidays, loading songs on your iPod, whatever you need to have done around your home and they charge like $10 per hour. Not sure how much money they make, but it's clever.

Deb, the fundraisers that seem to do well here at the rec are,,,,

Candy sales,,,a box of 52 various Hershey bars at $1 each

Cookie dough and pretzles and pizzas

There was one from Dominos which was a plastic card that for $10 the person would get about five or seven offerings. It really went over well.

Around here we have Auntie Annes which offers pizza sticks, bread sticks, pretzel dogs, etc.

The Joe Corbi pizza/cookie dough one is still popular here. The dreaded box of candy (52 bars for $52) is the fundraiser for the sports teams.

Thanks for all the comments on Aubrey's cheerleading outfit I have a couple of things still to tweek on it.

Bernadette - the little girls who cheer have two piece outfits, the skirt is just a straight skirt with and elastic waistband and a slit on the side, I've always like the two piece better than the one piece. I bet I have an outift in storage in Lizzy's size, we have Cowboys and Falcon uniforms in the Pee Wee sizes.

For those of you going in December, I have an idea . . . . . with the 14 we have at lunch, Claire and her husband, and my two hitchhikers that will be going with us that would be 18, if we could get everyone to ride TOT we would be taking up most if not all of the elevator, how cool would that be?

Might be cool, but I won't be in the photo! :scared1:

Deb - Our school does Sally Foster gift wrap for a fundraiser. I hate that, as I don't like my kids to go door to door.

Our big fundraiser, however, is in the spring. We have a school carnival. It is an amazing fundraiser! There is a silent auction with baskets donated by local individuals and businesses, there is a cake walk, a bake sale, carnival games, a small train ride, lip sync contest, etc. It brings in lots of money, but is a lot of work to put together.

Other fundraisers are a Dominos Dough Night. All the kids at the school are given a flyer about the fundraiser, and if their parents buy a pizza on the stated night, and give the flyer to the driver/cashier, 50 percent of the sale is donated to the school.

Good luck!

Butter Braids go well (but that might be just a Colorado item)

The Band just did Check Awards....which I love....it's like the Entertainment Book but specifically designed for your area...also gave us the highest return ($20 of the $35).

I've been in charge of the Entertainment Book sales...those have done well. Or I should say, did well until they popped up EVERYWHERE for sale.

We have also done concession stands at a few college games and other staffing.

We also did, with great success, the silly wrapping paper crap with a different organization, which gave us a better return.

Christmas greenery.

Lots of schools have great luck with the basket auctions.

the band just made $49 for the last Friday time slot at Cici's:rotfl2:

We do it mainly for the time to be together.

If you go to local restaurants it's usually a better return (into the hundreds) versus the chain restaurants.

Heidi sorry to hear about your uncle

Our Wendy's does this.

This reminded me that our grocery store lets the school kids sack groceries for donations.

Yankee Candle...

We sold it with Em's Brownie troop...sold $1500 between 5 girls and made $600.

The markup is amazingly low, like a $1 or so.

Finally got Mo swabbed at her pediatrician's office. The lab told the office that they test for the flu but what they meant was they will test the swabs that the doctor office's send them. It only took 2 labs and lots and lots of attitude by me to get that information. So now we wait. But honestly, I don't think it's the swine flu.

We decided to keep the girls home one more day...just in case. They all seem pretty normal (well, you know what I mean). Lu is the worst right now but it's only a cough. No fevers since yesterday. So who knows...

I got Mo's homework from her teacher today and she said she can't wait for her to come back, she misses her terribly. I am sure she says that to all the mom's ;) And Em's teacher said to send her back tomorrow because class isn't the same without her. I am so glad that they behave themselves at school, because today was horrible and they were only together a few hours.

Sandwich sales, BBQ chicken sales, spaghetti dinners, citrus sales before xmas, bus trips- work with the bus company to arrange a bus tour to a local attraction or place.

Flamingo flocking- get plastic flamingos, people pay to place them in people's yards you can ask for a donation to have them removed, you can also sell flocking insurance people pay a set amount so there house will not be flocked with flamingos. Depending on the number of flamingos placed in a yard you charge a different fee.

Basket auctions or Vera Bradley bingo

smash a car at a sporting event- have a car place donate a junker car, paint it with the rival teams colors and mascot, charge people to beat the car up at the sporting event

oh yes, the pie sale before Thanksgiving. That seems to go pretty well out here. So long as you get the good bakery to make the pies!!

Becky, love the flamingo flocking.

We're doing a pie and roll sale before Thanksgiving, but the parents/grandparents bake, we do not hire out. It ends up being all profit. We are also slated to sell Christmas Trees, Fruit Sale, car wash, spaghetti supper, baked goods at a rest area during foliage, basket raffle, concessions at the schools home games...There are more, but I can't remember off the top of my head. We are also hoping to do concessions during the school play and some sort of raffle before the kids fall and spring concerts. We need to raise about $7500 and the pie sale we did on the 4th of July raised $800. I'll mention the cookie dough and frozen pizza thing. People seem willing to buy food items since they need to eat anyway. It's the $15 wrapping paper and other overpriced items that no longer sell around here.

Deb - after many years of fundraising for cheerleading, the thing that always brought in the most money was a draw down

I see my elevator wouldn't be as full as I would have hoped, :sad2:, but you do know that the "scared" people make the picture more interesting. Elizabeth, I'll see if I can get your DS to ride with us, maybe the fact that Lizzy will be there will help also. :)
