Hope you are feeling better soon Heidi :wizard:

Amy how is Kevin? Hope he is doing better!

Thanks, Deb.

Elizabeth - have you heard anything about AKL pool being closed for refurb.?

Now that you mention it, yes. I saw a thread yesterday that CRO is contacting people because the Uzima pool is going to be down for refurb. I thought they said January into the first part of Feb. But the Kidani pool will be open.

My mom said she got a letter from them but threw it away without reading it closely, figuring I would get one too, but I haven't yet. Not that I plan on swimming in January, but you never know. I've searched allears and wdwinfo under rehabs but couldn't find anything. And you know how the search feature here on the Dis is.

Amy how is Kevin? Hope he is doing better!

He overdid it this weekend. I convinced him to go to bed early last night, since he has a murder trial that started this morning. I've also encouraged him to call his doctor for a follow-up, but you know men. He does realize he wants to be well for our Disney trip, so hopefully that will be the motivation he needs to allow his body to heal!

Debbie and Heidi, I'm sorry to read you are not feeling well. The left side of my head is throbbing. Stupid sinuses. This weather is NOT helping, since the temps are varying 20-30 degrees from morning to afternoon to evening!

Theresa, I'm praying this is the job for you!

Jen, glad you had a great birthday!

Becky, nice pictures!

Hope you all have a great Monday! :wave2:

Amy I hope Kevin listens to you & calls the Dr. for a follow up.

There are so many viruses going around now, it is ridiculous. Riley started with a headache & sore throat Thursday, now it has turned into a cough with stuffy nose. Gary is now feeling under the weather with the same symptoms Riley has. My sinuses feel wonky, but hopefully that is as far as it goes. So far Garrett has been spared.

A lot of people at work have been calling in sick either for themselves or because their children are sick.

I do hope this all passes soon!

DH refuses to get any sort of flu shot. Last week he went to pick up DS's prescription from the Dr's office. He said it was PACKED in there. Had I thought about it I would have had them mail the paper to us so DH wouldn't have been exposed to all of those sick kids. I am sure DH will come down with something shortly, and he will give it to DS and me.

Janet I hope you all get well fast.

Deb you need to get well fast:wizard: you have a trip coming up.

Amy I hope Kevin gets well fast:wizard: you also have a trip coming up.

Those of you that get the flu shots, do you still get colds, flu, ect?

Those of you that get the flu shots, do you still get colds, flu, ect?
Janet, I really hate to answer this question because I'm afraid I will jinx ourselves. We (myself and kids) have always gotten the flu shot. We get the occasional head cold (sore throat/stuffy nose) but never the flu. However this past winter we all came down with a gastro bug that kept us down for a few days, but that has nothing to do with the flu. Complete different germ. Every winter Nicholas would get a head cold that would turn into bronchitis, but since his asthsma diagnosis, and with the help of his inhaler, he hasn't gotten sick. They do still get strep, but that is easily diagnosed and they are back to school within a day or two. Nicholas had perfect attendance last semester, and probably would have the first semester if I didn't take him out for our trip. Alyssa missed days because of the stomach bug or she would have had perfect attendance too. I can safely say that I have no idea what the flu feels like.

The flu shot won't keep every germ from invading your body, but it does protect against extended illnesses.

Also, we also take chewable vitamin C tablets once school starts. So I don't know if it's the shot, the vitamin C or just good genes.

Those of you that get the flu shots, do you still get colds, flu, ect?

I get the flu shot every year because of my asthma, I haven't gotten the flu but I do still get colds, which often turn to bronchitis, or pnuemonia because my lungs are already compromised.

Those of you that get the flu shots, do you still get colds, flu, ect?

Absolutely!
The flu shot is only for certain strains of the honest-to-God influenza illness. It won't do ANYTHING against other strains of flu, respiratory or gastro viruses or infections, colds, etc. DS always gets the vaccine, but last year he got Influenza B because that wasn't covered by the vaccine.

The vaccine is less than 70% effective in healthy adults, so even WITH the shot you may STILL get one of the influenza strains covered by the vaccine. It is probably a good idea to get the vaccine, but it is no guarantee.

Thank you for your continued prayers and well-wishes for Kevin. Marci and Anne-Marie, thank you for relaying your own experiences with Dana and Randy. As for Kevin, his face still has the terrible blisters, but his pain is finally subsiding. He intends to go to work tomorrow, and hopefully he won't overdo it.

I wish I could say I had an ideal experience at my ultrasound today, but we have a bit of an issue. Our baby boy has two choroid plexus cysts on his head. My doctor is optimistic that these will most likely disappear throughout the rest of my pregnancy, but they need to take precautionary steps since it could also be a "marker" of other things. As a result, I had to give blood for a quad screening, and I will need to go downtown on Friday, October 30th for a level 2 ultrasound.

I'm trying to tell myself that this happened for a reason...Kevin didn't get to go with me, so the baby wanted to make sure Daddy gets to see him, but you know that's easier said than done. Thankfully I had Julie (she used to post here a long time ago) with me!

Alyssa doesn't seem too terribly disappointed another boy is on the way, but Matty is insisting we name him Trevor, since his friend Justine has a new baby brother with the same name. We've picked out the name Samuel Ethan...Sammy for short. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! We're 20 degrees below normal here in Cincinnati, and I'm just not ready for the cold. Luckily, we have a trip to WDW just about a month away. :goodvibes

Amy -- sending lots of prayers your way. Samuel is a beautiful name. I know it will be tough to wait two weeks but am confident you'll get better news the next time. Tell Kevin it wouldn't hurt for a follow-up appointment or at least a call with the nurse. Shingles can be very dangerous and he's in a busy, stressful job/trial. Hang in there!

Katrina may finally be getting serious about leaving her boyfriend. Keep your fingers crossed for me. She is thinking about moving back home in the next week or two. Her boyfriend is not worthy of her. He doesn't treat her the way that we all deserve. He is a nice guy but is very selfish.

Sending lots of prayers/PD to her and to you! I've been sick to my stomach about a good friend that married a total idiot. It breaks my heart that she is settling for not even mediocre.

My niece & sister were in a car accident just a little while ago. My sister is fine, but please keep my niece & her unborn baby in your thoughts.

This day just keeps getting worse.

Oh my -- it sounds like everyone is okay. How scary!

We are too...obviously not as late as you.

Let me see if I can catch up:

Amy-you and Sammy will be in my prayers for peace to surround you the rest of this pregnancy.

Anne Marie-Abi is a bit disorganized....I've always blamed it on her genius. :rotfl2: She is better this year...only 3 missing assignments at the midterm break. All need to be turned in on Monday whether she gets credit or not. Also, part of her problem is going from 2 semi-advanced classes to 3 advanced and 1 super advanced class (her Language Arts is actually more of a 9th/10th grade class) so there was a HUGE learning curve in amount and quality of work expected.

I know some of you were complaining about the weather...you are welcome:rotfl2:that was the stuff we had last week.

My interview went well on Thursday....I REALLY WANT THIS JOB!!! I should know by Tuesday.

For all of you I missed :grouphug::flower3: and :wizard: to you all. I have been extremely busy with the band the last couple of days...they have advanced to state Semi-finals (by the skin of their teeth) and actually improved point wise today at DCMI. Cassidy loved our campus visit to the University of Northern Colorado. Cassidy was the host for the UNC band on Monday evening and contacted the director Tuesday and was able to arrange to sit in on one of his classes...Conducting. We then had a lunch break...being broke I had packed a lovely picnic lunch which Jim left here:headache: so we ended up at McDonald's:sick: and I now know where a LOT of the bathrooms are on campus. :rotfl2: I am so not ready for Cassidy to be hit on by college guys. :lmao:

I have been home about 2 hours a day all week....I am so ready for tomorrow...a do nothing day....except laundry. :rotfl:

I hope you get terrific news about the job!

Look at this cool cake!!

bendysparty1.jpg

Another DIS friend is at WDW right now and having her 40th birthday party in the solarium at BC.

That is darling! I had thought about calling to order a cake for our anniversary, but I haven't made time to try to decide what to order. I also really need to figure out what to wash so that I can think about packing... :rolleyes1

Thanks for sharing the wedding photos, Becky. Nice how all the dresses were tied together.

Ditto! And the pics of you were terrrific!

I never did get into the basement tonight, but I did manage to clean out the computer cabinet. I'm sure the computer is much happier without all the dust and clutter :lmao:

I also applied for a job at the Medical Center. I am always reluctant to search out a new job as I never feel worthy. In this case I've already done most of what is required, but it was years ago. I haven't been happy at the Aquatic Center as they don't value the employees or the patrons so I'm having a very hard time having a positive attitude. I do love the morning swimmers and they've told me that they don't want me to leave, but it is time. Hopefully it will work out, but if not I'll keep looking. I am ready to go back into an office setting and my family fully support me. I'm not looking for full time, but if that came up, I would consider it.

I hope the medical center job works out, or one similar. You are definitely worthy! With all the extra work you do at your jobs, I'm sure you have enough office/managerial experience. Good luck!

I've been out of town at a conference, then had 6 people staying at my house for three days for the Texas/OU game. I'm exhausted, but we did have a great time this weekend.

Have a good week DDA!

Good afternoon, DDA! :sunny:

Sounds like the winter sickies are already arriving here for our families. I hope yoiu all take very good care of yourselves. :grouphug:

Bob has two co-workers who have Swine Flu. He called me this morning to ask what he should do about it. Since they were in a class together last week, I told him was too late to close that barn door! :rotfl:

Thanks for the replies, I was just curious ;)
